Beautiful Floral Laptop Bag

Evening Beauties

Thought I would write this quick post for you before I get ready to go to my cousins house for our New Years Eve celebrations.  I've been dying to show you all this fantastic buy...

Last Christmas, I got a fantastic laptop off my dad and I have literally been looking for a laptop bag for it ever since.  I use my laptop all the time at home and occasionally take it down to my cousins when I visit her or into uni when I have deadlines to meet, etc.  For that reason, I wanted a cute and stylish laptop bag that would keep my laptop safe but wouldn't cost the earth because I don't see the point in spending hundreds on something I wont use that often.  The price I had in mind was about £50-£100 and I found loads on the Internet for this price but none of the designs that I liked would fit my laptop.  I looked at Radley, Juicy Couture and alike but they were all slightly too small.  My laptop is 15.5 inches and most of the laptop cases stopped at 14-15 inches.

I was shopping in town a couple of days ago and came across this absolutely gorgeous laptop bag. Its a floral oil cloth little number which is quite reminiscent of some Cath Kidston bags I have seen.  Plus it is 18 inches so fits my laptop in perfectly, plus my charger.  It also has a lovely big pocket on the front too so I can carry my USB, papers and anything else I like.  The obvious factor when choosing a laptop bag is the padding that is in the bag as it must be secure enough to protect the laptop if it gets bashed or knocked.  This laptop bag has sufficient padding to protect my laptop.  It isn't the most secure of laptop bags but it is most certainly padded enough.

Where did I get this gorgeous laptop bag from you may ask? PRIMARK. Yes Primark, and for how much you may ask? £4. FOUR of your Queens English POUNDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  It was originally £8 (still a bargain) but now it is on sale for £4.  I've said enough really- Sold!

Have a great New Year readers.

New Years Make Up Resolutions

Hello Gorgeous Girlies
We got our puppy in April
I really don't know where this year has gone, its absolutely flown over.  Looking back, it has been a mixture of ups and downs just the same as most years but I would say the majority of my year has been great.  Some of the highlights of my year have included getting our gorgeous Bichon Frise puppy Daisy May, going to my graduation ball, graduating with a 2:1 honours degree from Northumbria University, being accepted onto the GDL programme and visiting Turkey and Tenerife.  My goals for 2010 were to join the gym/swimming pool and to lose some weight, not to get skinny, just to feel healthy in myself.  I started doing this and really enjoyed going to the gym and to Slimming World and managed to lose 2 stone in 2 months which I was over the moon about.  Unfortunately I stopped when I went into hospital in August because I was poorly for a while.  I haven't lost any weight since but I haven't put it back on either so I'm hoping to start where I left off on 2nd January 2011!

My New Years Beauty Resolutions
1. Shape up and get healthy
2. Try more drugstore make up brands
3. Stay organised and use up the make up, lotions and potions I already have
4. Purchase make up and beauty products as and when I need them

Ive been thinking about my beauty related goals for 2011 and I really think I need to be a bit more savvy with my money and try new things.  My experience with make up has kind of been a bit back to front.  The majority of girls start out with Collection 2000 and Miss Sporty, etc make up  you'll find in Superdrug and then as they get older they may move onto mid range make up and then the higher end offerings.  I've done things the other way round though.  My first cleanser, toner, moisturiser, etc was from Dior, my first foundation was by Calvin Klein and then I moved onto Clinique and YSL.  Over the years this love of higher end make up has cost me a fortune.  In recent months however, Ive changed as before I would go to a makeup counter and believe all the hype about a product and would often buy something just because of the pressure from sales assistants but now I make up my own mind on pieces of make up.  I have also started to use more highstreet/drug store brands of make up and I'm absolutely loving discovering lots of new pieces, mainly inspired by the blogging world.  Its saving me a fortune.  So in 2011, I would like to continue this and buy more drug store make up WHEN I NEED IT.

I recently bought a storage box (the drawers from WH Smiths that EVERYONE has) and sorted all of my make up out.  I found some gorgeous things that I have never used or used once and forgotten about.  My big goal for 2011 beauty wise, is to use up this make up.  If I have a black eyeliner that works perfectly well, do I really need to go out and buy another one just because I'm passing the Too Faced counter? No, certainly not.  I want to place a lot of emphasis on buying products only when I need them, like when I have ran out of something or when something comes out that I do not already have something similar too- how many pink lipsticks does one girl really need?  In doing this, my make up will stay fresh and ill save myself some money too.  When I sorted out my make up, I also sorted out all of my hair, face and body products and lined them up in order.  Those with the least in I have put at the front of my shelf and those that are full I have put at the back and over the past few weeks I have made a start on using them up.  Again this will keep my products fresh, hygienic and again, save me some money.  Theres so many times I've been shopping in town and bought another body scrub because it smelled nice or because I couldn't find my other one, usually due to poor organisation.  When I was tidying up my products, I found some gorgeous products that I had hardly used so 2011 is going to be a year of rediscovering those products for me!
I really hope that 2011 is an empowering year for me and a healthy and prosperous year for my friends and family and what a better way to kick off the new year than with a party with my family.  My auntie is visiting my cousin from London so I'm going down there for a bit of a New Years Eve party with all of my family and I cant wait!  In a nutshell, 2010 has been fantastic and I hope 2011 is even better.
How has 2010 been for you?

WhatLauraWore: Cosy in Cream

Hello Lovelies

I went to the sales the other day and this is what I wore.  We were shopping in the Metro Centre which is all indoors so I didn't need to worry about wrapping up too warm.  I hate being overly hot when I'm shopping and trying on clothes.  It makes me really  frustrated and lose my patience!

Outfit Breakdown
Crew Cotton Cable V Neck Jumper by Crew Clothing
Knitted Leggings by Newlook
Bailey Button Ugg boots by Ugg
Pink knitted beanie hat by Primark
White gold and diamond rings

Crew Clothing are having a great sale at the moment, so check out their website here.  They do loads of lovely preppy jumpers, shirts, rugbys and polos, a bit like Jack Wills and Ralph Lauren.

Tag: The Interview

Hello pretty people

Ellie over at Coffee and Roses has tagged all of her followers to do The Interview tag so I decided to do it.  Ive had a pretty productive day today as I picked out my wood flooring for my bedroom with my Dad and now its all paid for and due to arrive tomorrow.  It actually feels like we're making progress with this decorating malarky... we've only been in the house nearly four years and its untouched!! Urgh, I hate decorating.  I love designing what I'm going to put in the room and picking things out interior wise but the physical decorating I hate. Its just so messy.  I'd rather leave it to the men in my house, if I'm honest.

Tag: The Interview

1. Why did you create this blog?

I created this blog because I love beauty and all things girlie and because my friends often ask me where I got things from and for my hints and tips on make up etc so I thought I would start writing about it instead and sharing my views and ideas with the world!  For a few years I was a sort of silent member of the whole You Tube and beauty blogging community.  I watched all these videos and read the posts and thought, 'I could do that' but I just didn't have the confidence to put my thoughts out there.  I think because I'm plus sized and most of the girls doing OOTD posts, etc are slim, I thought no one would want to read what I have to say, but apparently they do which is great.

2. What kind of blogs do you follow?

I follow blogs that are written by good, interesting writers who have a passion for what they're writing about.  I like good sound reviews, anything with a preppy or vintage feel and good tips that actually work.  I like to be able to trust the persons opinion as I often buy items based upon good reviews of products that seem like they would be right for me.  I don't like bloggers who only blog about free products they have been sent or who contact companies asking for free products as I don't think their opinions are always completely honest and their reviews are often not very thorough.  Plus, that's not what blogging is about!

3. What is your favourite makeup brand?

YSL, Bare Escuentals and Too Faced

4. Favorite clothing brands?

Ralph Lauren, Crew Clothing, Yours Clothing, New Look, Matalan

5. Your indispensable makeup product?

Mascara, black in colour of course.  At the moment I'm really enjoying using Volume Million Lashes by Loreal in Extra Black but my all time favourites are Too Faced Lash Injection Mascara and YSL Faux Cils, both in black.

6. Your favorite color?

I don't have just one favourite colour... I really like pink, white and gold.
7. What perfume are you wearing?

Alex by Alex Curran.  Its gorgeous :)

8. Your favorite film?

The Holiday.

9. What country would you like to visit and why?

Jamaica as its gorgeous and colourful, with white sand, a beautiful sea and lovely people.

10. Write the last question and answer it yourself.

What is your favourite quote?
I live by "Life Is Not A Rehearsal"

I Tag: I would like to tag all of my followers to do this tag as I would love to get to know you all more. Please leave me the link in the comments box if you do do it :)

Primark Presents Haul

Evening All

I thought I would show you a few things that I got from Primark for Christmas off those close to me.  They always get me a little few things from there for Christmas as stocking fillers, rather than chocolate and sweets, etc which I'm not too much of a fan of.  I adore Primark jewellery as its really cheap and they have great designs and i love their shoes as they are always bang on trend.  I have noticed though that the prices are creeping up more and more which puts me off a little bit.  I don't really know how much the majority of these things were though as they were bought as gifts.

If you read my Matalan haul post, you'll see that I bought some gorgeous little boots with gold stud and chain detailing and I LOVE them.  Ive worn them loads since I bought them and I've been wanting to get more boots like them as I've really enjoyed wearing something a little different to my Ugg boots.  I think my family picked up on this as they bought me some more little boots for Christmas.  They're gorgeous!  They are a dark grey with gold stud detailing around the top with a tassel at the back.  I love how they are slouchy without looking sloppy or too casual, so they could be worn equally as well for a night out as shopping through the day.

While we're onto footwear, they also picked out these gorgeous gold slippers with a fury lining, cream bow and big diamante detail on the front.  I love how they are like little dolly shoes but in the form of slippers which is a style that's completely different to any other slippers I own.  I usually go for the boot variety but sometimes they can get too warm so these will be great for when my feet are too warm in slipper boots but its too cold to go bare foot.

Now onto the jewellery.  My family are really good at choosing jewellery for me, mostly because they know exactly what I like, what I would try out and what I wouldn't.  These are the jewels they got me for Christmas.

Gold 'Love' necklace with diamantes, silver necklace with a cream dove and a gold swallow necklace with diamantes. All very sweet and very me.
Silver swirl and diamante earrings, black bangle with 'Love' written with pearls which will look gorgeous with my Love jumper dress, double flower ring in gold with cream, pearl and diamantes, gorgeous vintage style earrings and a white sporty watch from the men's section.  I actually bought a pink one of these watches on holiday in Turkey and wanted to get a white one too but I couldn't find them anywhere.  They had them on the aeroplane though and were by a make called Breo which apparently all the celebrities, including Jessica Alba, are wearing.  I tried to buy one but they didn't have any left on the plane so unfortunately I couldn't get one.  This has turned out to be a blessing in disguise though as this one from Primark looks exactly the same but only costs £1 compared to the Breo one for £10. Result!

They also got me this gorgeous vintage style bag which I adore and this little messenger bag that they actually gave me earlier and I took it on holiday with me as it made the perfect holiday bag to put all my essentials in for nights out in Tenerife!  I'm not usually a fan of Primark bags as they do have a tendency to look very cheap but these two aren't like that at all.  They are lovely.

What did you get in your stocking this year?
Any Primark goodies?

Beating the VAT Increase!

Hello Lovelies

I have been to the sales today at the Metro Centre and my feet are KILLING me. I received quite a few gift vouchers as presents earlier this year and they've been burning a hole in my pocket.  But I have kept them until now so that I can use them in the sales and get more for our money, particularly in Debenhams as they have the huge Blue Cross sale on!  So off I went to the metro centre to look for household things to spend my vouchers on and for some little luxuries to spend with my Christmas money.

I have to say though, there wasn't that much in the sales that I liked, the majority of things that I loved weren't in the sale.  Next had absolutely nothing in by the time we got there, at least in their home department, and their store was a mess.  Apparently people were in the Newcastle store from 5am.... its all a bit full on for my liking.  Turns out, the mirrored jewellery box that Ive had my eye on didn't even go in the sale, so I'm going to keep my voucher and just buy it online with it rather than order it into the store.  I bought a James Martin roasting tin and rack in Debenhams which was great value for money (£25 instead of £50) and some gorgeous rose fairy lights for over my bed, but apart from that, there wasn't much in.  I was hoping to get some baking trays, etc but they weren't on offer like they have been in previous years.  Think ill just go to Dunelm Mill.  Evans was rubbish sale wise too as everything was either too old, too big or too small.  I did, however, manage to pick up a black with gold hearts cropped cardie from the Beth Ditto collection which is super cute.

All was not totally lost though as I found some great buys in Argos, Laura Ashley and Lush.  I got a gorgeous ivory curtain pole (very shabby chic) with mock glass detailing (£14.99 from £29.99), cream wire heart memo holder (£9) and a vintage country patchwork style double duvet set (£9.odd) in Argos.  In Laura Ashley I got some beautiful pieces which I will show you probably in another post, or when my room is finished and I do a room tour video and in Lush, I just went MAD with their 50% off sale!  Boogg, Snow Fairy lip tint and shower gel times a million (slight exaggeration), BIG shampoo, Candy Cane bubble bar to name but a few purchases.  Oh and I got a cute floral box out of WH Smith to put my nail polish in.

I've still got plenty of money left on my gift vouchers to buy more homely things and I managed to save a little bit of my Christmas money too after my little Lush spree.  I really treasure the vouchers people got me so I'm really trying to spend them on things I'll use, that wont go out of fashion (classic style rather than a something that's just the 'in' thing to have in a kitchen at the moment) and that will keep nice until I get a house and can use it!

Did you find any good bargains in the sales?

NOTD: Misty Grey by Models Own

Last night, after my Christmas Eve bath, I painted my nails with Misty Grey by Models Own.  This is one of my most worn nail polishes of 2010 and I'm sure it will continue to be worn often in 2011.  The colour is simply a creamy light grey that is described perfectly by the name 'Misty Grey'.  Grey is the perfect autumn/winter colour and if you're worried about wearing grey, like I was to begin with, then this is a great colour to go for to start you off.  Its quite a girlie way to wear grey too.  The photos above are two coats of Misty Grey, pre clean up and top coat and show the true to life shade of this polish.  It looks exactly the same on the nails in real life as it does in the photos and in the bottle.

The polish is thick but smooth in consistency and very opaque and is one of Models Own's shades that really could be left at two coats.  I find that two is best though, just to make sure that the application is completely even... nobody likes leaving the house, getting half way to the place you're going and realising you've missed some edges of your nail polish!  Like the majority of Models Own polishes, Misty Grey is fast drying and, if used with a top coat, remains chip free for days!

As always, you can buy Models Own polishes online here for £5 a piece, or if you want to shop on the high street then I would recommend Boots as they have Models Own stands and therefore the best selection of their polishes and makeup.
Have you tried Misty Grey?
Can you recommend any other grey polishes? I would really like to try some other shades.

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas everyone!

Daisy May's first Christmas!
I hope you are all having a lovely Christmas Day and stuffing your faces as you read this!  With a bit of luck, Santa was really good to you all, but that's not what Christmas is about really, well for me anyway.  Christmas to me, is about spending time with my loved ones.  This year we're having our Christmas dinner at about 7.30pm rather than our usual late afternoon dinner so while my Dad is hard at work in the kitchen, I thought I would take some time out to wish you a Merry Christmas and to do the Christmas Tag.  How ever you are spending Christmas, I hope you are enjoying it with the ones you love.  If you do this tag, please leave the link in the comments box below as I would love to read them all.

The Christmas Tag

1. Whats Your Favorite Holiday Movie?

I absolutely adore the film Jack Frost.  I watch it every year, several times in the run up to Christmas.  It makes me cry every time but I absolutely love it.  The soundtrack is awesome too; it features the song Landslide by Fleetwood Mac (written by Stevie Nicks) which reminds me of a troubled man I used to know who had faced many difficulties and sadness in his life.  He first introduced me to the song when I was 17 and I have loved it ever since.

2. Whats Your Favorite Christmas Color?

White and metallics like gold and silver.  I love white at Christmas time, from snow to decorations, we've even got snow on our Christmas tree!  Other than that, I love gold and silver, my tree decorations are gold and it just looks so classy and special.  The gifts that I wrapped up for friends and family were done with gold and black or silver and black foil wrapping paper again, because I think it looks classy and expensive. I love metallics at this time of year.  Ive never really been a lover of the typical Christmas red or green if I'm honest.

3. Do You Like To Stay in Your PJ's Or Dress Up For Christmas?

I stay in my PJs... usually ALL day.  I get new PJs on Christmas Day and I just like to put them on and snuggle up.  We don't have anyone come to our house on Christmas Day, its just me and my immediate family who I live with plus my puppy Daisy May, so I don't have anyone that I have to dress up for.  We stay in our comfy clothes, pig out and watch festive films!  I'm a PJ lover all year round but especially on Christmas Day!

4. If You Could Only Buy One Person a Present This Year Who Would It Be?

Daisy May.  Well, shes not a person, she's our puppy and its her first Christmas this year so how could I not buy her a gift?  We got her some lovely things; a Posh Paws Residence mat for her water and food bowl to go on, a few stockings with treats and toys in, some more treats and a cuddly Rudolph that smells of chocolate!  She's been spoiled rotten today, lots of people got her gifts, the little cutie!

5. Do You Open Your Presents Christmas Eve Or Christmas Morning?

I keep them all for Christmas morning and open them with my family.  I may be 22 but I still do the whole going to bed early so that Santa comes and sneaking downstairs on the morning saying 'has HE been?'

6. Have You Ever Built a Ginger Bread House?

Nope, Ive never even bought one let alone built one.  Id like to, although knowing my luck the sides would probably collapse in on it.

7. What Do You Like To Do On Your Christmas Break?

Over Christmas I love to meet up with my friends, go for drinks and dinner, and meet up with family.

8. Any Christmas Wishes?

9. Favorite Christmas Smell?

Turkey!  My dad always puts our turkey in the oven on Christmas eve and it just smells delicious.

10. Favorite Christmas Meal Or Treat?

I adore my dads Christmas dinner, mainly because he makes this gravy that only my Nana used to make.  Its lovely and thick and totally different to the usual Bisto that I knock up on a Sunday afternoon.  Its exactly the same gravy my late Nana used to make on all of her dinners and its just beautiful.  We only have it once a year and it makes me feel like shes still with us.

Daisy May is so tired waiting for me to finish this!
I tag: anyone else who would like to do this.

I never really wish for any gifts, I always just wish for a happy Christmas

TRAVEL | Tenerife in Photos

Its after 4am in the UK and I am still wide awake.  Earlier I took a 6 hour nap which in hindsight probably wasn't one of my better ideas but alas, I am awake and filled with inspiration to blog.  I though I would should you some snaps of my recent holiday to Tenerife.  I went for a week on 7th December.

We had a morning flight and because we were classed as 'last minute' we had to pick our tickets up from the Thomson desk at Newcastle Airport.  We got a taxi really early... 6.30am :( and arrived in plenty of time to grab a Starbucks (we had a Toffee Nut Latte each- yum. A MUST try in our book!) and get our tickets.  The airport was uncharacteristically quite.  We got checked in straight away and security took a matter of minutes.  This is me at the airport beside the gorgeous Christmas tree.
Me at Newcastle Airport
The flight took 5 hours, usually its about 4 and a half hours outbound from Newcastle to Tenerife but this didn't bother us.  We were just pleased to actually get there more or less on time.  A couple we were talking to while we were away flew from Doncaster and had an 8 hour delay which was diverted to Manchester.  What a nightmare!!

As soon as we got to the hotel we dumped our bags and headed out for something to eat and then we went on a wander.  We found a lovely little Irish pub called The Chieftain.  We aren't big drinkers or fans of clubbing so a quite pub with nightly live music is much more our scene.  I'm a big fan of Irish music and Terry played lots of classics, Irish tunes, country and folk music.  We were hooked and went back every night for at least one drink!  I adore the Pogues and Terry always made sure he played at least one Pogues song while I was there which was lovely.
Terry in The Cheiftain
Besides going to The Cheiftain every night, we also went to see Showtime which is a west end style show put on by British actors and singers.  They sang all the classics from Les Miserable, Dirty Dancing, Joseph, Chicago and alike as well as some rat pack songs.  The show follows the story of two people who fall in love as they travel the world performing.  Its a really good show, if a little cheesy at times.

Chicago by the Showtime cast
Dirty Dancing by the Showtime cast
We spent our days as most people do on holiday, relaxing by the pool.  The weather was absolutely glorious and a welcome change from the 15 inches of snow we left behind in England.  The last time I went to Tenerife, I went on a different excursion everyday.  This time I really wanted to just relax so this time I spent my days lying up on the roof terrace or by the pool and occasionally took a stroll down to the beach and out for lunch or a look around the shops.  The hotel we stayed in was lovely and we were given a room with a sea view, even though we didn't pay extra for this.  We had a huge balcony so we would often pop to the Hyper Dino (local supermarket) late afternoon to pick up some nibbles and drinks and sat out on our balcony playing cards while the sun set around us.  Bliss.

One trip we couldn't resist, and one of the reasons we wanted to go back to Tenerife if I'm honest, was the excursion to the Loro Parque.  The Loro Parque is a huge jungle like zoo filled with almost any animal you can think of.  They have fantastic dolphin and sea lion shows but what really attracted us was the Orca Ocean which is an Orca Whale sanctuary and show that they have created in partnership with Sea World in Florida.  We were literally SO excited to see the whale show and when we actually did get to see it, it was quite emotional.  I know that sounds a bit sad but it was actually really moving.  You've just got to see it to believe it, I guess.

We stayed at our hotel on a half board basis and the food was surprisingly delicious.  We still ate out most nights though, opting to go to the Safari Centre where they have some very stylish restaurants.  We also went to the Magic cocktail bar while we were there which was fab, if a little over priced.  They had a fantastic singer on doing Motown and RnB classics.
Delicious Paella (and a bit of a fajita!)

We went for a special meal at the exclusive El Molino Blanco restaurant which is famous in Tenerife because people like Mariah Carey and Rod Stewart have eaten there.  We went there the last time we were in Tenerife and fell in love with it.  The restaurant itself is absolutely stunning, with the majority of it being outside and the whole restaurant is covered in twinkling lights and plants.  Driving up to the restaurant is amazing because you can see a huge windmill, all covered in fairy lights.  There was a singing chef who sang opera and love songs along with a grand piano.

All in all, we had a fantastic holiday and such a welcome break away from the freezing cold British weather.  Tenerife is a great holiday destination whether you are going away as a couple, a family, a group of 18-30's or as retired jet setters.  Tenerife has something for everyone, all year round!

Have you been away for some winter sun this year?
Where are your favourite holiday destinations?

Mirrors for my Jewels

I have so much jewellery, probably a little too much if I'm honest but I find it really difficult to part with at times.  My room is going to be decorated after Christmas but it is going to take a while as there is LOADS that needs going to it.  In anticipation for it finally being finished (we moved in back in January 2007 and my room is still untouched!), I have been picking up bits and bobs to accessorise my room as and when I see them.  Ideally, I would like a HUGE mirrored jewellery box, i think that they are just stunning but all of the ones I've seen are around £50 which I don't mind paying, but I would rather see if I can get one a little cheaper first... so I'm waiting until the January sales to get one.  I was shopping in B&M Bargains this week for some Christmas wrapping paper, their sets are fantastic, especially their metallic range.  I chose gold and black and silver and black and my gifts look so classy all wrapped up.  Anyway, I digress, so I came across this mirrored jewellery box and bought two.  I already have a 3 drawer very similar to this but I've had it for years and one of the drawer fronts has come off (gutted).  For only £4.99 each these are a bargain and don't look cheap at all.  The beauty about mirrored jewellery boxes is that, although a bugger to clean, they look classy and glamorous.

When I get my BIG mirrored jewellery box I intend to have it on my dressing table, in the middle, with necklaces in and have these either side with my earrings in.  Ive started using these already.  When I first got them, I went through all of my earrings and threw out those that were broken and tarnished and those that had one missing I have put in a little organza bag until I find their match and if I don't by the time my room is finished, they are going in the bin!  I intend to be ruthless when moving into my new room and do not have space for things which are, essentially, unworn and useless.

WhatLauraLoves Top Tip!
If you have any earrings that leave a grubby green colour on your ear after you have used them then apply a little clear nail varnish to the back of them and allow it to dry.
Obviously I wouldn't recommend this for more expensive pieces as this shouldn't happen with those anyway but I've had it happen to larger stud earrings bought from Evans and Dorothy Perkins and after following this method, it didn't happen any more.

I will probably play around with the organisation of my jewellery boxes until it is just the way that I want it.  Ultimately, I am looking for the separation of studs from large earrings and the separation of colourful earrings, golds and silvers.  This will make it much easier for when I'm getting ready to go out as apart from my engagement ring, I am usually not wearing any jewellery to begin with and its usually the last thing I put on before rushing out of the door!  The way that I have separated my jewellery seems to be working so far and I'm finding it much easier to accessorise before going out and to wear pieces that I haven't had on in a while.  This is a key thing for me because I have so much jewellery that I never wear simply because its tucked away at the bottom on a jewellery box or I can only find one out of a pair of earrings.  This way, I can find everything I want and start giving some pieces much more air time!  I have organised the drawers as follows:

Jewellery Box 1
Top Drawer: Stud earrings and small dangley earrings (very little studs I have put in a little organza bag in this drawer to keep them together and so that a pair can be easily found).
Bottom Drawer: Colourful earrings- anything except studs and little dangley earrings.
Jewellery Box 2
Top Drawer: Silver, pewter or black with silver earrings
Bottom Drawer: Gold, bronze or black with gold earrings.  I like to keep my gold and silver earrings separate then when I am getting ready its really easy to find pair to wear to match my outfit or other jewellery.

At the moment, I am just using these jewellery boxes to keep my costume jewellery in.  Real gold or silver jewellery or earrings like my Chanel crystal studs and Vivienne Westwood earrings, I prefer to keep in their own boxes that I bought them in.

It's Christmas Eve Eve today, so excited!  I'm getting quite a bit of costume jewellery for Christmas I think and a lot will be from Primark.  Primark are fantastic for jewellery, especially for nights out and holidays as if it gets damaged, I don't mind so much.  They also copy a lot of the pieces you can find in more expensive high street shops like Top Shop and River Island.  I adore the jewellery in River Island but it is quite pricey.  Usually this doesn't bother me but the majority of pieces that I have bought from River Island have tarnished or broken after 1 or 2 wears which does bother me.  For that reason, I prefer to pick up most of my jewellery from cheaper shops like Primark, New Look and Matalan.  There hasn't really been any cult jewellery pieces that I have wanted for Christmas.  I've had my Pandora for about a year and half now and its almost filled with charms but I'm not really wanting to move onto anything else.  I know a lot of people have the Links of London bracelet and although they are gorgeous, I just cant justify the money on because I don't wear bracelets that often.  I think it is because I am on the computer a lot and hate the way bracelets get in the way of the keyboard on my laptop.  For that reason, I tend to stick to the gorgeous costume jewellery offerings on the high street and rarely buy fine jewellery.

I'm thinking of doing a jewellery collection and storage post once I have my big jewellery box.  Just the usual really, showing you some of my favourite pieces, how I store them, etc.  Please let me know in the comments box below if this is something you would be interested in.

Do you know of any shops that sell gorgeous BIG mirrored jewellery boxes?

Check Her Out!

I am a HUGE fan of Cheryl Cole, not just because she's from the North East like I am, although that does make me like her even more.  I just think shes great- shes warm, friendly, honest, entertaining, funny and gorgeous.  Before I went away I saw her in Will.I.Am's video for the track Check It Out and I couldn't believe how amazing she looked.  In it, shes wearing a tight fitting creamy coloured corset with black leather leggings, a golden tan and long hair extensions.  The cheesy, ditzy, air head character that Cheryl plays is a far cry from her usual intense and sultry music video characters.  Its a fun video to watch.

Apparently Cheryl only features in the UK version of the song which is silly because I really think she makes the video!  I really hope we don't lose her completely to America.  Although I don't think anyone could blame her if she wanted to move over seas after everything that reportedly happened with Ashley Cole.  I'm mean what was he thinking?!  What hope do the rest of the women in the world have when a man like him cheats on a woman like her?! Fool.

What are your thoughts on Cheryl featuring in Will.I.Am's video?
Love her or hate her, you must think shes gorgeous? Surely?

And the Award for Versatile Blogger goes to... WhatLauraLoves! Cue Applause.

Ray over at Who Is She has awarded me with the "Versatile Blogger Award".  This is the first award I've received for my blog and I'm chuffed to bits!  Ive been a little late in posting this as I've been on holiday and what not but here it is :)

First up, the RULES of this award are to:
Say thank you and link back to the blogger who gave you the award.
Share seven things about yourself with your followers.
Pass this award along to seven blogs you've recently discovered and enjoy.

7 Things About Me
(I must say that although they may seem a little negative at times, they're supposed to empowering as well!)

1. I have changed a lot over the past year or so.  Ive become a lot more opinionated and I wont stand for being treated like rubbish like I used to.  I think a lot of this is down to getting engaged to my fiance because I feel like I'm not alone, he'll always have my back and support me not matter what.  I would do the same for him too, he's my world.

2. I'm not a very jealous person at all.  That's not because I don't care, far from it. Its because I am always genuinely happy for people who deserve it.  I hate it when people cant be happy for their friends and instead come out with sly comments or ask them questions to find out how much something cost so that they can bitch behind your back later, etc.

3. Speaking of which, I'm a REALLY big believer in Karma and doing to those as you would want done to you. The past comes back to haunt you and I've seen some horrific examples of this, examples which would be too awful to talk about on here. Funnily enough though, the said friend in point 2, has had an exceptionally bad run of luck in love over the past few years, being dumped several times and having her fiance finish with her after just a couple of weeks.  Its an absolutely awful thing to have happened to her, no one should have to go through all that heartache, but I cant help but think that if she was nicer to other people then it might not have happened.  Thinking something is one thing, saying it aloud is another.  What goes around comes around and a "pretty" girl can be dumped just as quickly as a not so pretty one.  People should be thankful for what they have and pleased for others who have things they dont.
4. I absolutely LOVE the soaps- ive watched Neighbours, Home and Away, Emmerdale, Coronation Street and Eastenders since I can remember.  I'm one of these people who almost believes that they're real, quite sad I know!  Growing up, I was never really into cartoons, I preferred things with real people in and the closest thing I got to cartoons or kids television was Tots TV and Wizadora, which aren't cartoons at all really, they are have real people dressed up as characters.

5. I was bullied at school and I must admit that all of the name calling has left me a little bitter... it makes me feel good when I see people who used to call me names at school doing so badly and although that's an awful thing to say, I just cant help it.  I think its because despite everything people called me, I still wanted them to be my friend whereas now, I know what real friends are.  That said, I would always wish those people well and would never want anyone to treat them the way they treated me, or to be called the names I was called in school.

6. I absolutely adore my family.  I have quite a big family but I'm only really close to a few people in it.  Those people are the absolute world to me and I don't know what I would do without them.  Particularly my cousin Lyanne who I love to the moon and back.  She's more like a big sister than a cousin and no one makes me laugh like she does.  I love our little chats and our moments of madness!
 7. I really hate it when people put their lives on Facebook- couples arguing on each others walls, suicidal status', racist and homophobic comments (these make me sick!).  I just don't understand why people do it when EVERYONE can read what they're writing.  Some thoughts just need to be kept private.  Once you put something out there you cant take it back and sometimes this needs to be remembered!

The Versatile Blogger Award

This is supposed to be the 7 blogs I have recently discovered and enjoy but to be honest, I don't really find new blogs often, I tend to stick to the same trusted ones unless a new one comes along that fits my tastes perfectly.  With that in mind, the 7 Blogs that I award 'The Versatile Blogger' Award to are (in no particular order):

Amy at Flaws and All - Amy's blog is full of great reviews and I love the way she writes.  We both started out blogging around the same time as each other and became friends through Twitter. Shes fab and has a great eye for products.
Tali at The Gloss Goss - I absolutely ADORE reading her blog, I could literally read it for hours and not get bored.  I was a big fan of her YouTube videos which sadly aren't around anymore but her blog is just fantastic.
Christina Marie at Christina Marie Says... - Christina's blog is certainly versatile and I love her style.  Her posts are mainly a mix of make up, fashion and reviews of both expensive brands like MAC and lower end priced brands like Elf.  My favourite posts of hers though are the ones about Lush products.  I'm a huge fan of Lush and she is too.  I really trust her opinion on their products and enjoy reading her reviews.  She's even been featured in The Lush Times Online Newsletter!
Ellie at Coffee and Roses - Ellie writes really well, she has me hooked onto every word in her posts.  She uses gorgeous images and her reviews are really thorough.  I love a blog that has a good mix of general chat and product review and this is one of those.
Daisy at Daisy Loves Lipgloss - Again, another blog with the right mix of general chat and product reviews.  Daisy also holds fantastic giveaways, I was even lucky enough to win one of them.  She chooses and recommends lovely items and I have tried many new make up items as a result of reading her reviews.
Hannah at Away With The Fairies - Hannah's blog is one which I have certainly discovered only recently, tonight in fact, as her Twitter came up on the 'People You Should Follow' bit and her blog was linked to it. I really like it already.
Victoria at VIP XO - Her eye for fashion is amazing. I LOVE this blog.  So stylish, original and cool.

Are you a reader of any of these blogs?
Can you recommend any more to me?
