FOTD: Cinema Night

Hello Everyone, its been a while!

If you're a regular reader or Twitter follower, you'll know I've been away in Tenerife for the past week and I've genuinely missed writing for you all!  I had an absolutely fantastic time and with all the snow we've had up in the North East, it was lovely to get some sun on my back.  As I was on my to the airport, I got an email through on my BlackBerry saying that someone had commented on my Winter Warmers: Outfits For The Season post which was about an outfit I had put together for an evening at the pictures and they were asking if I could do a FOTD on the products I used, if I could remember them.  I was in a bit of a rush to get out of the house so my make up wasn't perfect for the night but at the end of the day, I was going to be in a dark cinema all night so I wasn't too bothered!
I wanted a glam but quite toned down look for the evening.  Below is a photo of the products that I used to create this look, I have also linked my other posts to the products (click on the text) if I have reviewed them so you can have a more in depth look at them.  Although the list of products that I used looks like a lot, it didn't take me much time to create this makeup look because it is a style I wear quite often and I am used to doing now.  In all, it probably took me 10-15 minutes.

Products Used
No7 Dual Protection Tinted Moisturiser in Medium
Bare Minerals matte foundation in Fairly Light by Bare Escentuals

Too Faced Naked Eye Palette- shades In the Buff, Pillow Talk and Lap Dance

Loreal Glam Shine Reflection lipgloss in #172 Sheer Watermelon

Starting with my face, I first applied No7's Dual Protection Tinted Moisturiser in medium.  At the time, my skin was quite dry as I had a cold so I didn't want to apply a liquid foundation as it tends to stick to my dry areas when I do.  Instead, I was looking for a medium to light coverage that would give that 'my skin but better' look.  I used this tinted moisturiser as it is known for its long lasting hydration, gorgeous colour and sheer finish.  I then used the Under Eye Concealer by George at Asda underneath my eyes before applying a light covering of the Bare Minerals Matte Foundation by Bare Escentuals, with their Kabuki brush, to get rid of any shine without drying out my skin.  If used alone, the tinted moisturiser I used gives a gorgeous dewy look but this wasn't what I was going for on this occasion.  To contour, I used the infamous Hoola bronzer by Benefit.  If you have light skin then this bronzer is brilliant to use as a contour because it doesn't have any glitter or shimmer in and if you have darker skin then it is great to use as an all over face colour as well.  For a sweep of colour on my cheeks, I used Warm Glow powder bronzer by Models Own and then highlighted my cheek bones using High Beam by Benefit.

To prepare my eyelids for applying eyeshadow, I used Second Base by Too Faced which is a gorgeous, creamy matte eye shadow base.  I know a lot of people love to use Urban Decay's Primer Potion but in all honesty, I find this base far superior.  I have been using it for years now and really wouldn't want to change to another product as I can rest assured that when I use this base, my eyeshadow remains crease free all day.  Also, it is light yellow in colour which is great for hiding any discolouration and toning down any redness on the eye.  Once dry, I then got to work with my Too Faced Naked Eye palette.  This is one of the most beautiful eyeshadow palettes I have used, along with the Natural Eye palette which is another of my favourites.  The eye shadows are soft, smooth and really well pigmented.

From the Naked Eye palette, I used In The Buff, which is a matte ivory shade, as a highlight and in the inner corner of my eyes to make them look wide and awake. I then used Pillow Talk, a light taupe shade with a satin finish, across my lower lid and up the brow bone, before finishing off with Lap Dance, a gorgeous shimmer eyeshadow, blended from the outer third of the eyelid, into the crease and blended out.

To line my tight line and water line, I used the Liquid Lava Gloss eye liner pencil, also by Too Faced, which is super black and has incredible staying power.  I then used Barry M Liquid Liner to line my top lash line and created a slight wing at the outer corner of my eye.  This is such a great liquid liner to use, especially if you're just starting out using liquid liner as the nib is really thick.  I used to use a MAC one that had a thin brush but it was useless so I opted for this one instead and it is so much easier to apply the liner, not to mention much cheaper but without compromising on the quality of the eyeliner.  To finish off, I coated my upper and lower lashes with two coats of Maybelline's Colossal mascara in 100% black before brushing through and then used the No7 Beautiful Brows Pencil in #15 Blonde to brush through and then define my brows.

I would love to say that I carefully chose my lip colour and type carefully before leaving the house but to be quite honest, I was in that much of a rush, I just picked up the first one I came across which was the Loreal Glam Shine Reflection lip gloss in #172 Sheer Watermelon.  I love this lip gloss and its lip plumping effect.  The colour is gorgeous too and is quite long lasting and not too sticky- perfect.  I have a couple from the range which I bought, admittedly, only because I saw Cheryl Cole advertising them.

I hope you all like this FOTD, thanks also to Rach who commented on my post to ask for it.

Would you like to see more Face Of The Day posts or any more make up looks rather than review posts in the future?
What do you think of the products Ive used? Any Faves?
