Baby, I Love You!

Hello Everyone

I hope you’re all well and enjoying your Wednesday. It was my day off today so I went to the Metro Centre for a couple of hours and managed to pick up some lovely pieces which I’ll be doing a haul video on soon. For now though, I thought I’d share with you a brilliant shampoo and conditioner I’ve been trying out from a brand I’ve recently discovered called Tara Smith.

The Tara Smith hair care range is animal friendly and carries the slogan ‘tested on film stars not on animals’ and which film stars you may ask? Well, Tara Smith is a celebrity hair stylist to many big stars and even did the hair on the Sex and the City movie, so if it’s good enough for the likes of Sarah Jessica Parker then it’s certainly good enough for me.

Across the range, Tara Smith offers natural and organic products made with earth friendly ingredients making for a very gentle, nourishing way to clean and condition your hair. All Tara Smith hair care products are free from the harsh chemicals and nasties that are typically found in shampoos like parabens, Sodium Laureth Sulphate, Glycols, Phthalates, PEGs, artificial colouring and animal derivatives.

I received the Big Baby shampoo and conditioner from the range to try and share my thoughts with you all and I’m pleased to say that on the whole, I’m pretty sold on these two hair care babies. I’ve been using them for almost 3 weeks now and have loved the results.

Big Baby shampoo and conditioner contains aloe vera which is ultra moisturising, camomile which soothes and calms sensitive scalps and amino acids which help to repair damaged hair. The ultra gentle Big Baby shampoo and conditioner was designed with children and adults with sensitive scalps in mind but their gentle formulation makes them ideal for the whole family to use. This makes them an easy option for family holidays as everyone can use them. Hassel free travelling!

The packaging of this shampoo and conditioner is gorgeous. I absolutely love all of the detail that has gone into the design of the bottle, even down to the embossed Tara Smith signature on the bottle. The bottles are quite small at 250ml but a little goes a long way and they are designed really well so its very easy to get just the right amount of the product out of the bottle.

The first thing I noticed when using the Big Baby shampoo was that it was quite a thick consistency that didn’t lather up very well into lots of bubbles. This made me feel as though my hair wouldn’t be very clean afterwards however I was so wrong. After using the Big Baby shampoo and conditioner, my hair felt squeaky clean, thoroughly cleansed and incredibly soft. After some research, I discovered that the reason why the shampoo doesn’t lather up is because it doesn’t contain any Sodium Laureth Sulphates so you don’t get lots of bubbles, just very clean hair. I used the Big Baby conditioner on the mid-lengths to the ends of my hair, as I usually do with conditioner as my roots do get greasy easily, and found that it instantly softened my hair, even in the shower. It acted as a great detangler as well as I managed to get a brush straight through my hair after my shower- result!

The shampoo and conditioner smell nice but don’t have a strong signature scent like a lot of hair care products but that is probably because a lot of other companies use synthetic fragrances in the formulation of their products whereas Tara Smith shampoos and conditioners are free from synthetic fragrances. I’m useless at describing scents but to me, the Big Baby shampoo smells a little of citrus and the Big Baby conditioner smells a bit of lavender.

I really think that the results speak for themselves in the above photograph.  My hair feels gorgeous, clean and healthy. Thumbs up from me!

I must admit, Tara Smith isn’t a range of hair products that I was familiar with until I was sent them a few weeks ago but now that I have tried them, I would definitely consider repurchasing them when I next run out of shampoo. I am particularly looking forward to trying the Feed The Root shampoo and conditioner as well as the Top Coat Glosser from the Tara Smith styling range. You can find out more information about Tara Smith and her hair care range at her official website and all of her hair care and styling products are available from both and in the UK. Also, if you’re a reader living in America, you can also purchase Tara Smith online at

EXCLUSIVE PREVIEW: Little Black Dress From Evans!

Happy Monday Everyone!

Back to work for most i know, but I hope a sneak peek at this gorgeous dress will wipe away those Monday blues!
£59.50 Evans

Evans have designed this gorgeous new twist on the classic little black dress for women who like to stay on trend and glamorous.  It is sleeveless and available in black with pleated chiffon detailing.  The dress also comes with an optional white tie belt which is great to synch you in at the waist to give your body some more shape.  This dress will really hide a multitude of sins and will flatter many body shapes and sizes, catering for girls from a size 14 to 32.

I would wear this with black tights and black platform stilettos but it could easily be worn with footless tights or leggings and sandals like in the catalogue photograph.  If you're not a lover of your arms, you got cover up with a little bolero too.

This dress will be available later on this week and will feature in the new catalogue that will also be released this week which means that not only will this gorgeous dress be available just in time for Spring but most importantly you will be able to get your hands on it in time for those Easter bank holiday weekend nights out!  Although this dress is coming out for spring time, its one of those pieces that could be worn year round.

I love it!

January and February Empties and Favourites

Happy Saturday Everyone!

The weekend is here- thank God!!  I've had a lovely chilled day today.  I went out with a friend to a lovely little pub called the Travelling Man and then to the pictures to see Gnomeo and Juliet.  We thoroughly enjoyed the film, it was so nice to watch a carefree and funny film and it was a welcome change from our usual choice of thrillers and horrors.

Tonight, I thought I'd share with you a video that I've recently uploaded to YouTube.  At the beginning of the year I set myself some new years resolutions that were designed to help me save money and space by using up the products that I already have rather than buying new products.

Here's how I got on in the months of January and February:

WhatLauraLoves has joined YouTube!

Evening all

Got some rather exciting, or slightly embarrassing, news to tell you!  I have finally bitten the bullet and joined You Tube.  Well when I say joined, I mean Ive uploaded my first video.  I've been watching You Tube videos for a while now and I've had my account since about August when I started commenting on peoples videos and 'liking' them.

My first video is basically just saying hello to everyone!  If you have any requests for videos, please write them in the comments box.  I know one of my followers requested my nail polish collection which I haven't got around to doing yet on my blog and that's because I'm going to film it instead, so expect that coming up in the near future!

Here's my first video... please don't laugh.  I am aware of how bad I look! Haha in future, I must remember to record videos when I'm fresh on a morning, not after work!  Also I haven't got a clue how to edit videos... so if anyone knows any good sites, please let me know the links to them.  I have Windows Movie Maker and do not know how to use it lol.

Hope you're all well and are looking forward to the weekend- I know I am.  Absolutely knackered after this week at work and I cannot wait until I get a lie in in the morning.

Do you have a You Tube channel?  What are your plans for the weekend?

Time I got A New Watch!

DKNY white plastic chronograph watch
£130 Ernest Jones
Just before last summer, I purchased this gorgeous chronograph watch by DKNY.  The watch case and bracelet is made of plastic and is bright white with gold detailing on the face and a stone set bezel.  I love this style of watch, particularly its large size, which makes me think of it as a feminine men's watch, if that makes sense!  I always get compliments on it when Im wearing it and it looks amazing with a suntan.  Ive worn it all last summer and right through the winter and I'm still not bored of it.

This DKNY watch is very reminiscent of the Versace DV One range of watches.  I've lusted after the Versace DV One for a few of years now.  They're ceramic and full of crystals, so so sparkly, but since Versace brought out the DV One, many other designer and high street brands have followed suit and created ones very similar- large faced watches with crystals.  Although this DKNY watch isn't as high quality as the Versace watch, with it being plastic rather than ceramic, at £130 compared to the Versace watches retailing at around £3000, it is a much cheaper alternative to achieve the same style but at a lower price.  If I came into lots of money, I would definitely buy a Versace DV One but at the moment, my budget wont stretch to that.  After all, it is a lot of money to pay for something that essentially just tells the time!  As long as a watch looks pretty and is hard wearing, then that is what matters to me.

Speaking of hard wearing, I quickly found that this watch wasn't as hard wearing as I first thought.  When I buy watches with diamante detailing, I ALWAYS take out the insurance to go with them as the crystals have a habit of falling out.  For this watch, the insurance was £10 odd for 2 years which wasn't too bad.  If only I knew then, just how valuable that insurance would be.  Having bought the watch around March last year, by September I needed to take it back to Ernest Jones in the Metro Centre where I bought it from as two of the stones had fallen out.  The watch was sent away and it took around 8 weeks before I was able to go back to collect it.  Upon collecting the watch, I realised that the repair person had replaced the missing gold stones with two white/silver ones which stood out like a sore thumb (you can also get this watch in white with a silver face where the gold is one mine).  How ridiculous- who would repair a gold watch with completely the wrong stones?! I explained this to the sales assistant in Ernest Jones who was incredibly rude and said that I should wait until after Christmas to put it in for repair because the repair person takes a few weeks holiday over Christmas!  Even when I showed her his mistake she said that there was nothing she could do.  I took the watch back in January by which point it was cracked on main case of the watch right down past the large gold pin.  This time, I spoke to a much nicer sales assistant who replaced the watch completely rather than sending it off for repair.  I was really pleased that he had replaced the watch... until less than a month later the watch cracked in exactly the same place, so I had to return it and go through the whole swapping the watch process again.  I don't wear the watch when I'm doing anything particularly heavy duty and I'm always so careful with my things so I really think that it is a fault with this watch as it is a bit strange that it keeps happening in exactly the same place.

I'll still wear this watch, I love it but its really time that I got a new one as this one is just too fragile for a lot of wear.  The gold against the white looks gorgeous though and I always wear gold, white and black together in the summer so I will definitely be bringing it back out over the summer months.  But be warned, if you buy this watch, or one similar, make sure you take out the insurance- its been a godsend to me!

How much is too much for a watch?  Have you had a similar problem with this watch?

A Night of Twilight

If you're looking for a bath experience that twinkles like the night sky, then I'd highly recommend the Twilight bath ballistic by Lush.

Twilight by Lush

I used Twilight for the first time in my bath last weekend and absolutely loved it!  It's now one of my favourite bath ballistics from Lush because it is so relaxing.  This is definitely what I would call a bath experience.  As soon as Twilight hits the water it starts spinning over and over and takes AGES to fully dissolve.  I don't actually have any photos of Twilight when it had finished fizzing as I got sick of waiting for it to dissolve and got in the bath- yes, it really does take THAT long!

Twilight is purple pink in colour with a turquoise blue core; i love the design of it, especially the moon and stars on the top.  Twilight is without a doubt the biggest bath ballistic I have used, it is absolutely HUGE!  Bath ballistics don't usually have much effect in our huge bath but this one was fab and filled the whole bath with pink and blue frothy bubbles.  Twilight has lots of glitter in it too which made my bath (and me!) sparkle, much to my delight!  Twilight smells gorgeous and although such a quality product like this is great to use at any time of day, I think it would be best to use it at night time before going to bed because it is scented with lavender, ylang ylang and malty Ovaltine (like the bedtime drink), making it the ultimate wind down to bedtime bath experience!

Since I didn't take any photos of Twilight when it had finished fizzing, I found this great Lush video of Twilight in action.

Since I've just been paid, I'm definitely going to be stocking up on Twilight.  I've never used a bath ballistic like it and I absolutely love it.  My skin felt soft and smelt lovely after my bath and I'm looking forward to using it again.  Ooh i feel all sleepy now...

Have you tried Twilight before?  Which bath ballistic is your favourite?
