HD Brows: Before and After

HD Brows is a seven step treatment to the most perfectly defined eyebrows.  Depending on how unruly your eyebrows are to begin with and what you desire them to look like, the treatment can involve techniques such as threading, tweezing, waxing and tinting.  This look cannot be achieved through individual treatments alone like waxing, its the combination of all these techniques that gives you truly well designed and highly defined eyebrows.  Having well defined eyebrows really frames your face, it makes your eyes the focal point of your face and can make you look slimmer, younger and can soften your features.  The treatment can be completed on both men and women with great results.  I love how HD Brows looks on men.  Its not about making them look feminine, its about taking away excess hair that can make their eyes look hooded, dark and too heavy to ultimately make them look younger and give them the perfect shape that works with their features.  So girls, get your men along to a salon!

Ive lusted after HD Brows for a long time but could never leave my brows alone for long enough to make the treatment worthwhile.  I often used to pencil in my eyebrows, particularly when going on a night out when I was wearing a lot of makeup and I loved how they really did frame my face.  There is only so much that an eyebrow pencil can achieve and since I wanted a groomed look more often, I decided to take the plunge, grow my eyebrows out for a month and get HD Brows done!

Before and After HD Brows
The technique that made the most difference to my eyebrows and ultimately my face, was the tinting.  (Incidentally, its best to get a colour test done first, just in case you're allergic to the products used!)  As a blonde, I had fairly light eyebrow hair, with it only looking darker in dense areas of my brows.  My eyebrows were quite dense towards the centre and pretty sparse from the mid way point of my brow.  They didn't have much shape, particularly towards the outer half of my eye and they looked pretty messy.  The tint that the HD technicians use is designed to darken and/or even out your eyebrows. and for me, the tint served both of these functions.  I love how they are now much more even throughout my brow and therefore frame my face.  They look pencilled in without looking too heavy.  Overall, the HD Brows technician made my eyebrows look defined whilst still looking natural- this is a look that I love.

When you first have the treatment done, its best to wait 24 hours before washing your eyebrows so that you do not wash the majority of the tint out.  I actually waited a couple of days to ensure their longevity.  When I first had the treatment done my eyebrows were really dark and it took a while to get used to but after I had washed them for the first time, they did lighten up.  By the time Friday night came and I applied my fake tan, I was loving my brows!  They really do make a massive difference to my face and I will definitely be having the treatment done again.  On another note, id recommend trying to not touch your eyebrows or apply make up to the area (sounds easy but its not after having an eyebrow treatment) for a day or so afterwards.  When you've just had them waxed, the follicles will be sensitive, so you don't want any dirt getting in there and giving you little spots like I've had in the past.

Whilst HD Brows don't last forever (usually about 4 weeks due to fading and regrowth), it isn't a treatment that can easily be reversed so I would recommend going to your appointment with some idea of what you would like to achieve from your eyebrows in terms of shape, shade and intensity.  Once they are tinted and waxed you're going to be with them for at least a few weeks so its best to get them exactly how you want them!
Before and After HD Brows, they are not pencilled in at all
So is it for everyone? I'd say yes.  HD Brows is all about creating the right shape of eyebrows for you as an individual.  No two people will leave the treatment looking the same.  Regardless of age, skin tone or hair colour, I think everyone could benefit from an HD Brows treatment.  Particularly those with really dark hair who perhaps have unruly eyebrows or what I would call baby hairs on their forehead, would really benefit from the threading and sharp, defined brows look great on brunettes and those with black hair.   For those with lighter hair, HD Brows are fab for giving you the definition you've always dreamed of but haven't been able to achieve through a lack of density.  The lighter your hair is, be prepared for the initial shock of having darker eyebrows.  Its the colour that you'll notice first, usually because if you're having the treatment done, you'll not have much make up on so they'll appear to look darker against your skin and hair and will be completely different to what you're used to seeing!

With regards to the upkeep of your eyebrows following an HD Brows treatment, there is an HD Brows palette that you can buy.  I didn't get this as I've got my eye on the Anastasia Beverly Hills Beauty Express kit, once I've used up my Bare Minerals eyebrow powder.  Some salons, like the one I went to,  have a deal on with the HD palette where you can save money if you buy the kit at the same time as you have your treatment.  Now that I've had HD Brows done, my eyebrows do not require much maintenance.  I tend to leave my eyebrows alone as they are with the HD Brow treatment during the day, like in the pictures, and then on an evening, I fill them in further with an eyebrow pencil or powder.  At the moment I'm using the Bare Minerals powder in Light Ash Blonde and the No7 eyebrow pencil in Blonde.

I paid £25 for my HD Brows at Refine Spa in Whitburn which I believe is an average price to pay for the treatment.  Its pretty steep for eyebrows but worth every penny.  Id recommend going to a well recognised salon like I did.  If you're in the North East, try Refine Spa, it certainly lived up to the reviews id read on Facebook.  I was really impressed with the salon from the moment I stepped through the door and Holly who did my HD Brows treatment was fantastic.  Usually when I have my eyebrows waxed they hurt like hell and my eyes water LOADS but they hardly hurt at all when Holly did them, the whole treatment was painless and quite relaxing considering the plucking, waxing and threading that's involved!  She was quick and efficient and the treatment didn't last very long at all, only about half an hour/forty minutes.  I also asked Holly to tint my eyelashes as well because I was going to do my own individual eye lash extensions.  The ones I've used in my before and after HD Brows video below are by Salon System at Sallys.

I love my HD Brows, they're defined, low maintenance and perfectly compliment my hair colour and skin tone.  I've already booked my next appointment!

You can purchase all of the HD Brows products direct from the HD Brows websiteBeauty Bay and the Beauty Room Shop.

Have you had HD Brows done?  What did you think of the treatment?  How do you like to wear your brows?

Anastasia Beverly Hills

I recently had an HD Brows treatment at a salon near me, which I’ll talk about in a separate post and video and I really like the results.  I’ve now become obsessed with my eyebrows!  When my eyebrows are a great shape, colour and filled in, they really make a huge difference to my face and they really influence the way the rest of my make up looks.  Your eyebrows frame your face so it’s important that you pay attention to them- a little grooming goes a long way.  Once you have a great shape, it’s all about maintaining that shape and filling them when you do your make up every day.

Whilst I really enjoyed the HD Brows treatment, I found that they were a little dark for me at times, like when I first had them done before they settled and if I wasn’t wearing any makeup.  What I really loved about them was the shape and how polished they made me look.  With this in mind, I think I am going to keep having my eyebrows waxed but use an eyebrow kit to fill in my eyebrows and chose my desired strength of colour for them.

I have been looking for a quick and effective eyebrow kit to use every day for a while now and I may have just found the perfect one. There are many different eyebrow palettes on the market and this one by Anastasia Beverly Hills is the best I’ve seen. The Anastasia Beauty Express kit has a wax cream to set your eyebrows, a light and dark duo powder for filling them in, either to mix your own colour or blend the two and a duo highlight- one shimmery, one matte for highlighting the brow bone. This kit looks perfect. What makes it so great is that you get the tools with it to make your eyebrows look fabulous so not only are you getting a great product but you’re getting great tools too. You get an angled brush to apply the product and five eye brow stencils, along with the palette all for $39.50 from Sephora and online.

This video from Anastasia shows the eyebrow kit in a little more detail and it also shows you how to shape your eyebrows, that is to say, where you eyebrows should start and end and where the arch should be- something which I have often struggled with myself.

"Beauty Express" brow-kitinstructional video from Anastasia Beverly Hills onVimeo.

Looks great doesn’t it? I’ve been checking out the rest of the makeup range by Anastasia and it looks fantastic; lots of light, soft and subtle colours, the collection looks beautiful. Anastasia Soare has a salon in Beverly Hills where she has shaped the eyebrows of many celebrities from Madonna to Jennifer Lopez and Oprah to Selena Gomez. She has recently branched out into a cosmetics and skincare line which looks really promising. The makeup collection has the importance of great skin care at the core of their clinically tested formula.

I cannot wait for my Beauty Express palette to arrive, I’ll keep you posted on the results.

Have you tried any make up from Anastasia? What are your favourite make up products to buy from Sephora?

Fabulous Fashion Finds From Marisota

Hey everyone, I hope you’re all well. It’s coming towards the end of the month so I hope you’re all looking forward to pay day and the bank holiday! I literally cannot wait as this month I am going to be treating myself to some new clothes as I haven’t been clothes shopping properly for a little while. I’ve got a couple of holidays coming up so I’m looking for some last minute pieces for them, plus its almost autumn (dare I say it!) so I am looking for some warmer pieces too.

As always, I’ve been online window shopping and looking at the latest clothes and trends. I was actually really impressed with the womens plus size clothing from Marisota. In the past, I have watched adverts from Marisota but didn’t pay much attention to the brand as I always assumed their clothes would be aimed at an older age range- oh how wrong can one blogger be!? I literally cannot believe how great some of their clothes are. They’re very versatile they are as a brand, a lot of their pieces can be worn on any woman, regardless of age and they’re available in sizes 10 to 34. I wanted to share with you some of my favourite clothes so that you don’t miss out on some really good pieces like I could have done!

1, Reefer Jacket- available in camel, antique rose and black
I’ve been looking for a camel coloured, smart-casual winter coat for years with no success. This Reefer Jacket is gorgeous. I love the double breasted style, the pockets at the front with flaps and the camel colour- it’s EXACTLY what I’ve been looking for. This coat is also available in black and the beautiful antique rose. I was really impressed with the selection of coats from Marisota, they literally have a coat to suit every shape and they are available in loads of different colours so I’m sure everyone would find a coat that suits them. I know I did, I’m in coat heaven!

2, Anna Scholz Jumpsuit- available in black and purple
Jumpsuits are everywhere at the moment especially in the straight size stores. It’s great to see that the plus size brands are taking notice and designing them too- us curvy girls want to look just as good don’t we? Marisota in particular have some really fashionable jumpsuits available which are sensitive to the curvier figure. This one from Anna Scholz ticks all the right boxes for me. The cut is fantastic, it appears high waisted and pulls you in at your slimmest part, which for most plus size women is just underneath their bust. It features detachable straps and a tie belt which is perfect for separating the top from the bottom half, giving it more shape which is perfect for the fuller figure. Its stretchy too with a shirred panel at the back so it will hide a multitude of sins. The elasticated hems are great at drawing the item in at your ankles, so regardless of the size of your legs, this will streamline them and make them appear slimmer. My favourite is the black as it looks sophisticated and would look fantastic with gold jewellery, sandals and a clutch bag.

3, Anna Scholz Print Dress
Another fantastic offering from Anna Scholz at Marisota, this dress is young, colourful and the print is bang up to date. I love how versatile this dress is- I will be able to dress this up or down simply by adding accessories. It will look gorgeous on my holiday with tan wedge sandals and a tan bag. It is in the sale too so ill be saving myself a pretty penny which is always a good thing! The selection of dresses at Marisota really is something to be seen, there are so many different styles and colours to suit any age, shape or budget.

4, Leather Jeans Belt- available in tan or black
You wouldn’t believe how long ive been searching for a plain tan belt for and this one from Marisota is exactly what I’ve been looking for. Theres so many looks I can pull together with this belt. I really like that preppy casual look of jeans and a Tshirt or cream jumper, with a tan leather belt and I love adding a tan belt to a floral or white casual dress or playsuit. It allows you to create a preppy designer look at a fraction of the price.

I’m sure you’ll agree that some of these are real finds, particularly from a plus sized clothing website. Usually I feel a bit limited with the clothes I have to choose from but there is such an extensive range at Marisota that I found it really easy to find pieces I liked. I literally cannot wait to order these and I’m sure I’ll be featuring them in a WhatLauraWore post very soon!

Have you shopped at Marisota before? What are your favourite pieces from their website?

Nailing Leopard Print

I LOVE leopard print but sometimes it can be a little overpowering if its used too much in an outfit.  A leopard print nail design is a perfect way to incorporate a touch of animal print without going overboard; its subtle and pretty.

To create this nail design, I first applied two coats of Nude Beige by Models Own and left it to fully dry.  I then dabbed on a glittery gold colour #289 from Barry M in little oval and circle shapes.  After this nail polish had dried I then used the Andrea Fullerton Nail Boutique Stripe and Sparkle nail polish in black to roughly outline the gold shapes and to add random little black lines to add to the leopard print design.  When this was almost completely dry, I applied Top Coat from Nailene.  Applying the top coat just as the other polish is drying makes the design slide a little which is good for this design as it makes it look a little more realistic.

This was surprisingly easy to do and I love the results.  I wore it out with a black dress, leopard print heels and clutch with a brown and black smokey eye- pretty and glamorous.  I'd really like to give it a go with some other colours too.

What are your favourite nail art designs?

Stay Beautiful.

WhatLauraWore: A Splash of Colour

Morning Beauties

Thought I'd share a recent outfit with you all today. Its mostly from Yours Clothing which seem to be my favourite plus sized shop at the moment. Their clothes are young and fashionable and a fantastic fit... oh and have you seen their sale? Wow, such bargains to be had!

Lace detail ankle length leggings from Yours Clothing

I've had such a good week, full of pampering.  Earlier this week, I had an HD Brows treatment and my eyelashes tinted at a beauty salon near to where I live. I then applied semi permanent false eyelash extensions myself and so far so good- they've lasted 5 days and still look full and fabulous!  Ive had my hair highlighted today too so feelings great at the moment!

What have you been up to this weekend? Do you do any beauty treatments yourself instead of going to the salon?

Camping & Festival Make Up Essentials

Morning All

Wish I was waking up here this morning!

Today I thought Id show you some products that I took away with me on a recent camping trip with Michael and Daisy May.  We actually stayed in a camping pod at Otterington Park rather than in a tent which was such a good idea.  Camping pods are den like and wooden and are a great alternative to a tent as they allow you to do everything you would when you're camping without the hassle of putting up a tent!

When I was away I wanted to be able to create a hassle free, flawless make up look that was quick and easy to do in the mornings with as few products as possible (packing selectively is a must!). While we were away we spent our time walking in the countryside, going out for lunch and to a museum, so I wanted a makeup look that was natural and shine free, rather than like a done up Barbie doll!

Here's what I took with me:
Whats in my Camping make up bag?

Origins Make Up Bag
Gorgeous, hard wearing little make up bag that I got with the Origins Look Alive Value Skincare Set. Its tiny and so deceiving as I could fit all of this in, with the exception of the Estee Lauder Double Wear Powder which I stored in my toiletries bag.
Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse in 040 Fawn
Dream Matte Mousse foundation is fantastic for oily skin, it gives a flawless, air brushed finish with medium coverage that is so easy to apply.  I wouldn't recommend this for those with dry skin as the foundation itself is very drying.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Powder in 2W1 Sand 16
I usually wouldn't take something so expensive away with me but this is sadly running out.  I will definitely be repurchasing this, its absolutely brilliant at keeping away shine from oily skin.  I love a matte face.  The mirror in the compact is HUGE so I used it to look into while applying my make up.  Read my review on Estee Lauder's Double Wear, here.
Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer in 02 Light
This is the best concealer I've used.  Its perfect at hiding dark circles and covering blemishes and was literally a godsend while I was away camping.  When at a festival or roughing it in the great outdoors, a flawless base is key to a gorgeous low maintenance look and this concealer is the secret to getting a great base.

Estee Lauder Sumptuous Mascara in black
This is a sample size so its compact and lightweight enough to carry around and to fit in my Origins make up bag.  Its super black and provides length and volume to even the shortest of lashes.  This mascara is FANTASTIC.
MAC Dame Blush
This is a beautiful neutral pink that is cool toned with a satin finish.  It gives a lovely flush of colour to the cheeks, without making the wearer look too overdone which is definitely not a look you want to go for when you're camping!
Bare Escentuals Flawless Face BrushMarks and Spencer Lip Care
Dense, soft bristle brush thats great for applying my MAC Dame blusher and small enough to fit inside this little Origins bag. Score!

Lip balm in a stick format.  Perfect for the men in your life who want to keep their lips moisturised without having an girlie side effects- no shine, glitter, shimmer, tint, just moisture!  Michael used this while we were away, he gets dry, chapped lips easily, particularly when he spends a lot of time outside so this was perfect for him.  I used it while we were away too before going to sleep at night and I kept it in my bag during the day for some quick moisture touch ups- SO much easier and less messy than carrying the Vaseline Rosy Lips around with me.
Vaseline Rosy Lips
Perfect for a touch of colour that's super moisturising.  I applied this each morning to give my lips a light pink rosy hint of colour.  This made me feel gorgeous and girlie in a very un-girlie environment!

What are your make up must haves for camping and festival wear?

Boho Babe

Batiste Boho dry shampoo, £2.99 for 200ml in Superdrug & Boots
This month I've been using another can of my FAVOURITE dry shampoo by the brand Batiste.  This time Ive been using the Boho scented dry shampoo which smells very sweet and quite spicy.  Its not my favourite scent as for me, nothing could top Brit, but I definitely like it.  I love the way the scent lingers on my hair and people often ask me what perfume I'm wearing... and they're always really surprised when I tell them its my dry shampoo!  Its quite a heavy fragrance too so its great for when you need some extra freshening up, especially for refreshing your hair at festivals and on camping trips!  Its easy to use too and you dont need a mirror to get your hair looking refreshed and styled.  You just simply wake up, spray it in your roots and vigarously rub your roots to create an oil free boho style.  When I sleep on my hair it gets a slight wave and this really makes it look gorgeously textured and beachy.  If you're looking for a product that will leave your hair feeling non-sticky, oil free and volumised, then Batiste dry shampoo is for you!

I also have a video coming up showing you how to get the most from Batiste dry shampoo- gorgeous volumised hair, without any grease so stay tuned for that!

Whats your favourite Batiste dry shampoo scent?

Ditzy Fizz

Morning All

I'm exhausted at the moment, life seems to be going by SO quickly and I just don't have the time to truly enjoy it.  Last night, I went out with some friends I hadn't seen for a while but I really needed perking up before I got ready to go out, so when I got in from work, I ran a hot bath and popped in a Ditzy Doll bath bomb.  My bath bomb of choice last night was Ditzy Fizz, a bath time treat infused with champagne, orange and mimosa.  Anything remotely associated with champagne is an instant hit with me.
Ditzy Fizz

Ditzy Doll bath bombs have improved recently with a few notable differences.  Firstly, they're much bigger than they used to be and some are now heart shaped rather than the usual round bath bomb shape which I much prefer.  I love anything heart shaped so these really are a design that I love.

Ditzy Fizz, like the other Ditzy Doll bath bombs, still come in a little organza bag which is really handy.  If I'm not using the bath bomb in the bag, then I use the bag to store some of my jewellery.  The organza bags are great to reuse to keep little earrings in or a necklace that you don't want to get tangled up with other necklaces.  The organza bags are also handy to put gifts in for friends birthdays, or indeed to give the gift of a Ditzy Doll bath bomb inside one of the little bags.
Have you tried any Ditzy Doll bath bombs?  What are you enjoying in the bath lately?

Wear a Maxi Dress with Confidence

Evening all

Yesterday I shared some pictures with you of me wearing my much loved leopard print sequin detail dress from Yours Clothing and it got an unbelievable response, particularly on the Yours Clothing Facebook group page, so THANK YOU very much to everyone who gave such lovely feedback.  Along with the post, I also got quite a few emails and messages with regards to how to wear a maxi dress comfortably, particularly if you're a curvy girl and how to style it.  Tonight, I thought Id share with you some of my top tips.  These are by no means exhaustive and I'm certainly not an expert but these are style tips that I adopt myself or have recommended to others and they have found that they worked well for them too.
Two of my favourite Maxi Dresses, both from Yours Clothing
Wearing a dress should make you feel glamorous, comfortable and feminine, not self conscious and out of place.  For years, I avoided wearing dresses in favour of a trusted trouser and top combination but in recent years I have become more and more fond of dresses because I've learnt how to wear them to make me feel comfortable and confident.  Regardless of your weight or height, you can look great in a maxi dress, its all about finding the right one for you and there really is a maxi dress out there for everyone.

Fit, Style and Material
Finding a style and fit that's right for you is really important.  When buying any item of clothing, I find that its best to shop and dress for your shape, rather than for your size.  No matter what your size, whether you're an 8, 18 or 28, the same dress wont look the same on two of the same sized people.  This is because whilst people can generally be the same size, the shape of them within that size, can vary greatly.  Its all about dressing to accentuate your best features and to detract the eye from those areas that you do not appreciate as much.  When shopping, think of your best features and how to show them off in the best possible way and always keep in mind the areas that you would like to hide and try to choose a style that draws as little attention to them as possible.  This couldn't be more significant when it comes to wearing dresses.  Maxi dresses are great as they can hide a multitude of sins but ensuring you get the right fit, style and material is very important.  Take my body for example, I am much smaller at the top than I am around my middle.  I don't hate my arms or shoulders and I like my chest, my stomach is the area i tend to avoid drawing attention to the most.  I avoid clingy fabrics in dresses as these tend to cling to the bottom of my stomach and really accentuate how big my stomach is in comparison to my legs and upper body.  Maxi dresses are uber flattering as they often pull you in underneath your bust which is the smallest part of most plus size women.  Depending on the shape of your upper body, carefully consider the neckline of the dress and the straps as this can really make a maxi dress a hit or a miss; a v neck will flatter most shapes whilst a strapless dress can appear to cut some in half and accentuate a larger bust.  Moving on from maxi dresses to shorter dresses presents further dilemmas as many do not like their legs.  If this is the case, consider whether the dress your wearing would look good with leggings, thick black or natural tights or whether you need a bit of tan on your legs.  I'm a big fan of the St Moriz spray on tan, particularly for use on legs and for nights when I have not had time to apply fake tan but where I want my legs to look free from imperfections, then the Sally Hansen air brushed legs is my choice.

Covering Up
For many curvy girls, their arms are a problem area.  Whether you're styling a maxi dress for a casual daytime look or an evening out, there are many gorgeous shrugs, boleros and jackets in the shops to make you feel comfortable and a little more confident in your dress.  If you're a stranger to dresses, choose one that can be dressed up or down.  A floral maxi dress can be worn in the daytime with a cropped denim jacket, flip flops, big sunglasses and a big bag and can be dressed up in the evening with jewelled sandals, a pretty clutch and complimenting accessories.

Colour
Maxi dresses are available in all colours and are often heavily patterned.  If you're too shy to wear something bold to begin with, try a dress in one solid colour or with a mix of just a couple of colours, then accessorise.  I love wearing a simple black maxi dress with gold accessories.  It looks stylish, glamorous and takes minimal effort to put together.  With such a plain dress, you can get away with wearing jewellery that's a bit on the chunky or bling side.  If you're wanting to experiment with colour but are not ready for a heavy print or bold colour, then I would recommend trying a maxi dress that has one colour, usually black, from under the bust downwards and a different colour on the bust.  This is a particularly good style for those who have a medium to small chest but a larger stomach, like myself.

Jewellery and Accessories
These should always compliment your dress in both colour and style- a chunky necklace does not look right with a halter neck dress.

Footwear
Maxi Dresses are a great opportunity to leave your high heels at home in favour of more comfortable flat shoes. Flip flops or sandals are best and for the most glamorous looks, opt for metallic shades or those adorned with crystals and jewels. If you feel as though you need some additional height, try wedge sandals but be careful of the length of your maxi dress- it needs to be long enough to reach your ankles but short enough to not become a trip hazard. Its all about finding the right balance and the same goes for wearing trousers with heels- you need to make sure your outfit is long enough so that it doesn't look like its divorced your ankles and married your knees, but it still needs to be a couple of inches off the ground so that you don't fall bottom over breast so to speak.

Underwear
Wearing the correct underwear is imperative. Opt for nude shades, that way your underwear will not show through the fabric of the dress you're wearing. Structured, strapless, underwired bras are best and as for covering your bottom, id recommend underwear with as invisible a seam as possible. Since a maxi dress is long, you can wear smaller underwear like a thong or g string without worrying about revealing too much, particularly when walking upstairs! The key is not being able to see your underwear through the dress, particularly as the fabric used in maxi dresses can be quite thin, especially those designed for summer sun.

Comfort
I often get emails from curvy girls who would love to wear dresses but find that their thighs rub together causing them pain and discomfort and they often ask me what I would suggest to avoid this. Comfort shorts are available from shops like Evans however I haven't had very good experiences with these. If you're looking for something to prevent your legs from rubbing together, then I'd suggest wearing some thin leggings, cut down into shorts. They'll often be too thin to be seen underneath a floaty dress and they'll be comfortably tight to your legs and therefore prevent them from rubbing.  This is not something that I exercise often myself however it does work and stops many a painful night of embarrassing thigh rubbing leaving you feeling red raw and walking like you're John Wayne.

Retailers
My favourite plus size clothing retailer for maxi dresses is Yours Clothing.  Although many of the dresses that Yours sell are the clingy kind that don't suit me, the chiffon, lighter fabric dresses that they get in stock are true gems.  I have bought maxi dresses from the So Fabulous range at Very.co.uk which are very generous in size and like Yours Clothing, they are great value for money.  I am not so keen on Evans or Simply Be maxi dresses as I do not find them as good a fit on me, however they have some lovely styles and are fantastic quality, if a little pricey, and will look great on many people.

I really hope this has helped some of you who emailed me.  I do not have all the answers when it comes to style and fashion but I hope that some of what I have written can help you as I know how difficult it can be to buy fashionable, age appropriate plus size clothes.  If you have any top tips, please leave them below so that we can all share :)

Stay Beautiful.

WhatLauraWore: Animal Instinct

Happy Sunday!

I had intended to go out for the day with some friends to a big open air museum called Beamish but given that the weather is awful, I've decided that a day in my turquoise velour lounge wear tracksuit is a much better option *once a fashionista, always a fashionista*.  Michael and I are going to watch The Blindside this afternoon, apparently its really good and I love watching Sandra Bullock films, shes awesome.  Before I saunter off to enjoy my duvet day, I thought I would show you a recent outfit that I wore on a night out with friends, featuring my new leopard print maxi dress from Yours Clothing.

A couple of years ago, I would shy away from a print like this but I am so pleased I tried it as the leopard print is quite subtle and the whole dress is really flattering.  I sized up as my middle is larger than my top half but with most maxi dresses this means that they are too big around my chest.  Not with this one though, its really well elasticated around the bust and I find it to be a really great fit.  The only thing that I don't like about the dress is that there are some sequins dotted around on it, but they don't appear to be sewed on as well as I would have liked and some have come off in places.  This doesn't take away from how beautiful the dress is and the sequins that have come off haven't left any noticeable gaps.

WhatLauraWore:
Animal print sequin detail maxi dress from Yours Clothing
Gold flower sandals from Primark
Gold leopard print clutch bag from Primark
Rose gold watch by DKNY
Wooden and gold earrings from Primark
Leopard print bangle from New Look
Gold bracelets from Primark

I hope you all enjoy the rest of the weekend, chat to you all soon... stay beautiful :)

WhatLauraBought: Ready For The Weekend

Today I thought I would show you a few accessories I've bought recently from Matalan and New Look, two shops with I am becoming increasingly impressed with after doubting them for a few years.
Matalan
New Look
I wanted something to wear for the evening too and picked up a gorgeous orange chiffon top in Matalan and some accessories to wear with it.  I'm not the kind of girl who buys something new every time I go out, i think id be bankrupt by now if I did but it did feel good having a new outfit on.  I teamed the top with some black leggings and my trusted Primark gold flower sandals.

Here are a couple of snaps from the night:

Me before going out

Me and my best friend Vicky
Hope you're all having a good week.  Its the final Friday push and then the weekend is here!
What are you all up to this weekend?  I hope the weather is great whatever you're doing!

WhatLauraWore: Feeling Gorgeous in Vintage Floral

Evening All
Having a relaxing night in tonight.  Been swimming after work and now just enjoying a bacon and Phili bagel with a Brothers Strawberry Cider... yum.  Its the first night in AGES that I've had to myself, I'm so busy lately, so I intend to enjoy it!  After writing this, I'm off for a candle lit jacuzzi with another class of cider... classy bird!

This is an outfit that I wore on Sunday.  I had a really lovely weekend- I went to Doncaster with eleven other girlies to see Westlife in concert.  They were awesome and a good weekend was had by all.  These photos were taken when I got back home... slightly hung over with a mouth like Ghandi's flip flop, hence the bug eye sunglasses.
WhatLauraWore:
Longline Rose Top from Inspire at NewLook
Crotchet shrug from Evans
Odeon MM bag by Louis Vuitton
Gold flower sandals from Primark
HUGE sunglasses from Claires Accessories
Bangles from New Look
Vintage style stud earrings from Primark
Rose gold watch by DKNY

This dress made me feel gorgeous, really very feminine and quite vintage.  They also do a black one with a different pattern which I may purchase for my holidays.  The cut really is gorgeous.  I actually wore it again today to work but I put some leggings on underneath so it was a little more appropriate for the office.  I picked it up in New Look last week when I went shopping with my friend Vicky.  I also found a gorgeous aztec print vest in the sale for only £5.  Their sale was fantastic, i usually don't find anything in the sales as I find them so unorganised and jumble sale esque but there was quite a lot that i liked.  I'm really impressed with New Look lately, their clothes seem to be coming up a little bigger than usual which is ALWAYS a good thing and there seems to be such a wide range and choice.

Have you picked up any bargains in the sale lately?  Which shops have the best selection?
