Yesterday I popped into Primark to find some pink wedges to go with the outfit that I was wearing that evening to go out for my friends birthday. I'll be posting a WhatLauraWore outfit post this week but basically the theme was bright colours. I really wanted to wear my new dress from AX Paris which is black (not very bright!!) and I wanted to accessorise with bright pink accessories so off I trotted to Primark in search of pink wedges and jewellery. They didn't have exactly what I wanted but I picked up some gorgeous pieces all the same.
Aztec Owl Printed T Shirt, £3
I've never bought a t shirt out of Primark, ever. That may come as a shocking statement to many but for a big girl like me, I've unfortunately never been able to fit into them. When I was shopping yesterday I saw some of these tshirts for only £3 and thought I would buy one to try on to see how far away I am from being able to fit into it and to give me a bit of inspiration. I wasn't confident enough to go into the changing rooms to try it on and if it was miles too small, I didn't want it to ruin my positive mood so I parted with my £3 and headed home hopeful that I would at least be able to get it over my head. The style of the t shirt isn't something I'd usually go for but it was the only one in a size 20 and I actually really like it... I'm looking forward to being able to shop in the usual high street stores and trying out new fashions, prints and styles. I tried this top on this morning and I'm please to say that it fits!! It is quite short in the body but when you have a big tummy like I do it tends to pull everything upwards, but that will be rectified in the coming months as I continue on my healthy mindset and lifestyle. I'm almost at a 5 stone weight loss now and feeling so healthy!
Black and cork wide fit wedges, £12
I absolutely ADORE these wedges, they're really easy to wear and perfect for summer. I couldn't find any in pink so opted for the black which in the long run is the best idea as they'll go with so many dresses. I knew they would be comfortable as I have them in coral too, you may have seen them in my WhatLauraWore outfit post with my coral dress that Gemma from TOWIE has.
Bright teal and orange skull scarf, £3
When I saw this scarf I knew I had to have it as the colours are just amazing together. Teal and orange are perfect for summer and the design is so eye catching. I've never been a fan of the Alexander McQueen inspired skull scarves after parting with my hard earned cash for an original black and white skull scarf before EVERYONE had them but I didn't mind getting this one from Primark as if McQueen ever did such a vibrant scarf like this I wouldn't invest in it as there's only so much I'll be able to wear it with. My friend bought one of the purple and green McQueen scarves and she struggles to wear it regularly and its not even that bright!
Flower bag, £3
Primark bring out these bags every year and I've always looked at them and thought they were very pretty but never bought one. This year, I decided to break the mould, as I was queueing for the till they had these bags reduced from £8 to £3, fate? It's so pretty; I love the green with the big pink flower and rope handles. It is lined and has a pocket inside too so it is more durable than it looks. I'm going on three abroad holidays this year so I will be needing a bag to take with me. This one is a perfect size to carry around on holiday with a towel, suncream and other essentials in.
Coral pink zigzag cuff necklace and matching bangle £4 and £2 respectively, pink aztec stretch bracelet £3, coral flower ring £2, HUGE flower earrings £2.50
Now onto the jewellery. I bought all of these pieces to wear on my night out with my AX Paris Curve dress which I'll be showing you all in a WhatLauraWore post this coming week. If you follow me on Instagram (my username is whatlauraloves, funny that isn't it!?) then you may have already seen me wearing some of these pieces. They're all pretty, pinky coral and summery. One thing that I would say about the ring is that the size did seem to come up big so I would recommend trying them on before buying. I know that I had lost weight recently but I'm sure I couldn't have lost that much off my fingers! I used to take a large in Primark rings but bought this one in a medium and even that was a loose fit so definitely try before you buy girls! The bracelets, as I always find with Primark jewellery run big which is encouraging for curvier girls or those with large wrists/fingers etc who are often sized out of high street stores however this is not so good for those with very small wrists as I think that they may find the aztec pink bracelet a struggle to keep on.
Have you picked up any nice pieces from Primark recently? What are your top summer buys?
