This autumn winter, I've really been dabbling into different trends, using colour palettes, fabrics and styles that I haven't sported much of previously which you've probably all noticed from my WhatLauraWore outfit posts. One such style is the much loved Baroque trend.
Baroque is one of the hottest trends this winter, perfect to get you noticed under the mistletoe this Christmas! It is a fairly gothic trend that can be fully adopted or used to inspire your outfit, taking a couple of key pieces and adding them to your outfit to create texture and style.
The photo above shows some of my favourite baroque inspired pieces from Boohoo. I particularly love the Alouissa Black Studded Skull Suedette Slipper Shoes. These would look great with a tunic and black leggings, or some black skinny jeans. At only £18 they're an absolute steal!
This particular trend has gained its inspiration from the baroque era of the 17th Century with rich, opulent fabrics and textures. It is all about opulence and luxury and so, choosing fabrics to reflect this like silk, velvet or lace work really well. The detailing is also important when embracing this trend, look for bold jacquard print, jewelled embellishments and beading. To make this look as effective as possible, focus the colour palate around black, add in rich jewel tones such as emerald or ruby and highlight with gold or silver detailing. Another top tip is accessorise, use embellished bags, chandelier earrings and eye catching necklaces to make your look more lavish, opulent and luxurious. Looking like you are about to walk on stage in a costume is a danger with the baroque look, as it can easily look over the top. To avoid this wear baroque inspired statement dresses or pieces and team them with simple modern details. To give an up to date and edgy look use black jeans, sheer detailing and stud embellishment.
What are your thoughts on the Baroque trend? How would you wear it?
