My Favourite Hair Removal Products

As I type this, I am on board a train travelling down to London to attend an event this evening with AX Paris and an important meeting tomorrow morning.  The carriage is more or less silent aside from the tapping of my fingertips on my laptop's keyboard and I'm enjoying the peace and quiet... as well as the complimentary Vladivar and coke I'm sipping.  I'm excited for what tonight has to offer and nervously anticipating the outcome of tomorrows meeting.  I've spent the past couple of nights preparing for this, with the usual hair masks, face masks, body scrubbing and tanning, all of which I have talked about to great length on WhatLauraLoves in the past but there is one area that is often overlooked when it comes to my beauty reviews and that's hair removal.

I want to put this out there; I'm a shaver.  I know, I know, going for a wax would sound much more pampered and glamorous compared to cocking my leg over the side of the bath, razor in hand but I've tried leg, bikini and underarm waxing in the past, much to my disdain and discomfort, so now I save waxing for the eyebrow department only.  I simply find shaving much more economical, pain free and I suppose, it's less time consuming than making the monthly pilgrimage to the beauty salon.  So yes, I'm a shaver... well, I was until I discovered Nair.

Nair are a brand that have created a range of hair removal products that are perfect for those with sensitive skin as they are dermatologically tested and contain lots of natural ingredients like Camellia Oil and Ylang-Ylang.  Their products are designed to remove hair gently but effectively, removing it from below the surface of the skin to leave the area feeling silky smooth for a longer period than can be achieved from shaving.  They have a range of products that are intended to remove hair from the legs, arms, bikini line and even the face and they're available in wax or cream formats.  I have been trying out a couple of the cream hair removal products.

This isn't the first time I've dabbled in hair removal creams- I've tried some other varieties from different brands in past years which have all burnt like hell as soon as they touched my skin and left me with a rash upon removal.  I loved the concept of the products but they played havoc with my skin, which isn't usually sensitive in the slightest.  Fast forward to recent months and I was seeing several adverts on TV about another hair removal brand, Nair, and the launch of their new product, Brazilian Spa Clay Shower Power Cream.  I finally felt that it was time to try out hair removal creams again, this time with a new brand and a new product and from the outset, I have to say I'm so happy I tried these!

Nair Brazilian Spa Clay Shower Power Cream

Shower Power Cream, £6.69
The Shower Power Cream from Nair is designed to give you a spa experience in your own home.  It's an in-shower treatment, containing mineral rich mango butter and palm, that works while you shower to remove hair from your legs, bikini and underarms.

The cream is so easy to use- to apply, I simply use the spatula provided in the box to spread a fairly thick, even layer onto my skin and if I'm going in the shower, then I leave the cream for a couple of minutes before getting into the shower and then I remove using the spatula after a further 5 minutes, by which time I will have finished washing and conditioning my hair.  If I'm using this is the bath, I apply and leave it for 5 minutes before getting in the water and remove after a further 5.  Both methods work equally as effectively, it even works on very short hairs too which makes it very precise and gives a great smooth finish.

I find that I need to use this every 5 days in order to keep my legs hair free so it definitely lasts longer than shaving.  One thing that I have noticed is that I haven't had the stubbly regrowth that I usually get after shaving.  After using the Shower Power Cream for over a month now, I find that when the hair regrows, it appears to be finer and softer than usual which is great.

My skin isn't irritated when using this cream, it doesn't burn, turn into a rash or hurt.  I'm SO pleased I tried this as it saves me so much time and means that I can be ready to put a dress on and get my legs out at any given moment!  I have already repurchased this which shows how much I enjoyed using it... this now empty bottle will feature in an empties post very soon!

Nair Bikini and Underarm Roll On

Nair Bikini and Underarm Roll On, £5.10
The Bikini and Underarm Roll On is an absolute gem of a product and one which I've already repurchased.  It twists up like a cream deodorant and just slides onto the skin, I then get in the shower, wash my hair, use a body scrub, etc as normal and then after about 5 minutes I just rinse the unwanted hair away from my underarms.  I couldn't believe how great this hair removal cream was at removing hairs, it doesn't miss any.  I use this for my underarms only as I use the Shower Power Cream for my bikini line and it really is the best thing I've used.  It leaves my underarms SO smooth which I have never quite achieved with shaving.  It contains Camellia Oil to moisturise the skin and Ylang-Ylang to soothe the skin and they really do work to leave my under arms smooth and soft.

I cannot recommend these Nair products enough.  I can't believe how I've totally changed my mind about hair removal creams because of these two.  I'm even tempted to try their waxing products....

You can buy both of these Nair products from Boots online and in store.  Happy Shopping!

  4. Hey flower - firstly, I'm loving your blog! I think I'm addicted... In other news, I'm also a fellow sensitive skin sufferer and I would be scared stiff to go near any Veet products as I just heard horrible things about their products, especially the hair removal creams. However, being a sucker of packaging, I was instantly drawn to the 'Spa Clay' products and loved them! I don't use anything else, I just can't complain about them! It's so nice to find a product that actually works for your skin type!

  6. I've tried hair removal creams before and I find they just don't do anything. I have a Nair gel and I have before, actually left it on my legs for well over the recommended time and still I have hairy legs :( I had to bring out my Venus again. and I've never used it since. I'm too much of a whimp to wax.

    1. Perhaps they have a new formula as I know the Spay Clay products are new, they've worked for me and so many others so worth giving a go. I hate waxing larger areas like the legs as its SOOO painful!! xxx
