Hey everyone, I’m Jess from The Crown Wings blog and the lovely Laura has kindly asked me to do a guest post for her. I thought I’d talk about some trends I’ve seen that really don’t work for my lifestyle, and probably the majority of you too!

Firstly, focusing on fashion, I’m really not sure of the practicality of transparent bags. On catwalks and photo shoots, these look amazing, channelling a minimalist, edgy look. In real-life however, I don’t know a single girl who doesn’t carry a million and one things in their bags, just in case. A week old bus ticket and my 4 different lip options on display to the entire public seems like my worst nightmare, especially when you factor in the risk of having your valuables on display. I know you can get mini bags to go inside the main see-through bag to put your items in, but that just seems a bit pointless to me. Why not just opt for a bag in that colour instead?!

Secondly, I’ve noticed a lot more FOTD posts with pretty expressive makeup looks. I absolutely love these posts and think if you are incredibly skilled with makeup application then it is your duty to let mere mortals like myself oohh and ahh, taking inspiration from your creativity. However, trying to wear these make up looks in real-life situations, where there are other people around who aren’t into the beauty industry as much as you, can be a little bit more challenging. While I may have experimented with neon eye pigments in my tweens, if I dared to do that on a night out, it look more like a drag queen. I think this is one trend that is meant to stay in the blogosphere.

Lately I’ve been trying to get storage inspiration for my room so have been watching a lot of youtube and reading about make up storage. Whilst I’ve seen some rooms that look homely and stylish, some leave me asking, where do you put your stuff?! They have plenty of delicate and dainty room decorations, yet no actual clutter. No piles of magazines, no mounds of clothes or discarded shoes, nada. Even when I clean and tidy my room, it will never look as pristine as some of the rooms I’ve seen. I’ve come to accept that my organised chaos, or just pure chaos in the morning, is here to stay.
So those are some of the trends I’ve noticed that would just not work for me in the real world. Have I missed any out?
