Balance Me Cleanse and Smooth Face Balm Review

This autumn winter, there is one product which has been an absolute saviour on my skin and thats the Balance Me Cleanse and Smooth Face Balm, which comes highly recommended from many skincare junkies online (Caroline Hirons, I'm looking at you).  I'd heard so much about this product that by the time it came to using it, I had very high expectations and let me tell you- they have been surpassed!

Balance Me Cleanse and Smooth Face Balm*
The Cleanse and Smooth Face Balm is from the daily essentials range at Balance Me and is of 100% natural origin.  It is an oily balm cleanser with radiance-enhancing oatmeal, plus you get a muslin cloth in the box.  I really like the muslin cloth, it feels much thicker than the others that I have from No7, perhaps it is double layered, but either way, I really like it.

Speaking of its natural origin, Balance Me have packed this cleanser full of skin boosting ingredients from anti-oxidant rich Arctic cloudberry to the super gentle Roman chamomile and red mandarin to brighten the skin.  The face balm is rich in essential fatty acids, vitamins and lipids thanks to its virgin coconut and kukui nut oils, shea and cocoa butter and softening rosehip and camellia.  If you'd like to know everything that is in this balm right down to the fine details then head on over to the Balance Me website where those clever skincare lovers have listed all of the ingredients in their entirety.

The face balm can be used as a cleanser to remove your make up or to just clean your face.  Personally, I like to remove the majority of my make up first using a micellar water, such as Bioderma, on a cotton pad.  Then I massage a small squeeze of the Cleanse and Smooth Face Balm between my finger tips to warm it up before massaging it into my skin using circular motions, which feels incredible, so relaxing.  This can be used all over the face and neck and even on the eyes without making them sting or feel irritated.  I sweep it over my eye lids and then massage it into my lashes and I'm always amazed at how easily this removes the last remnants of my eye makeup, even waterproof mascara and Duo lash adhesive which is always difficult to get off.

The Cleanse and Smooth Face Balm is targeted to normal to dry/ sensitive skin but I have super oily skin and find that it works great for me.  After using the face balm my skin looks and feels clean without feeling tight.  I'm not left with an oily residue on my face but my skin does feel very soft and moisturised.  This is a step in my skincare routine that only takes a couple of minutes but I feel hours of benefit from and it has a lasting impact on my skin.  I use this at night before spritzing my face with another product that I'll be reviewing later this week and applying my other skincare hydrating products.  The scent instantly relaxes me and makes me feel ready for bed.

One thing that I really like about this face balm over other ones that are available is that is gently exfoliates the skin as well as cleaning it.  The oily balm contains little oatmeal grains that are designed to encourage cell renewal and slough away dead skin cells.  Whilst I can't comment on the former, the latter I can definitely agree with as using this has left my skin looking brighter and more radiant as well as having a touchable, smooth surface.

This could easily be used throughout the year but I'd particularly recommend using it during the colder months as it is so nourishing.  I'm 25 and it works great for my skin and I think it would be good for others whether they're younger or older than me too.  In short, I love it!

The Cleanse and Smooth Face Balm is available from the Balance Me website, Look Fantastic, Debenhams, John Lewis and Naturismo.  There is a 15ml tube for £4, a 40ml for £10 and a 125ml for £20.
