So this year I'm getting in there early with my Christmas Gift Guide posts and I've got lots and lots of ideas coming up for you over the next few weeks so please subscribe to get all of my updates.
I thought that I would start with my gift guide for men. Lets get them out of the way first as they're usually much easier to shop for than the women in your life, I know my man is!
Starting with fragrance and I would really suggest looking out for a gift set in the scent that your man loves or a new scent similar to one he already has. If you're unsure on which scent to go for, take along a list of fragrances that he already has then those working on the perfume counter should be able to match a fragrance with similar notes to the ones he already likes. Generally gift sets are a great way to save money on buying a fragrance and matching toiletries together, plus most shops will gift wrap it for you too which is going to save you valuable mulled wine drinking time!
Might I suggest that if you're travelling, you pick up one of these great gift sets in duty free, saving you pounds and time choosing a gift. If you're not travelling before Santa comes, then Boots (Click here to head to Boots where you can save £5 when you spend £45 using the code FRPPC45), Superdrug, House of Fraser, Debenhams and the Perfume Shop do some awesome gift sets.
I have the 212 VIP for Men gift set by Carolina Herrera and the D&G The One gift set that I picked up in duty free that have both been wrapped up for my Mr for Xmas. These smell gorgeous and are scents that the majority of men like. Others that I would recommend are YSL L'Homme, Dior Fahrenheit (an oldie buy goodie) and Issey Miyake For Men.
For those perhaps on a budget or looking for a fragrance as a stocking filler then might I suggest the For Him eau de toilette from Zara for £17.99. It smells absolutely GORGEOUS and is one of Mr WLL favourites. My dad loves this fragrance too so it'll suit men of varied ages and the bottle looks great on a bathroom counter.
Skincare, Body Products and Gift Sets
When it comes to male skin and body products you have two options- buy individually or buy as a gift set. For giving a gift to a friend or a boyfriend who you have just started dating then I'd suggest a gift set. Again, Boots and Superdrug are the bees knees for these.
The Urban Duo by FCUK is a hair and body wash and body spray gift set which is part of the Boots 3 for 2 offer and costs £8.00, making it a great option for someone who you're not as close to or as a stocking filler. FCUK fragrances always smell great and they look stylish too so they're a good option for the younger men in your family.
A similar gift set is the Teds Winning Combination by Ted Baker which is, again, on the Boots 3 for 2 and contains a body spray and hair and body wash. This is another great stocking filler or gift for a friend.
Another couple of FCUK giftsets are The Stylish. (£20) and The Genius Glove. (£18) which are part of the Boots 3 for 2 also.
Both of these gift sets contain an accessory, a hair and body wash and a body spray, so really it depends on which one you think the prospective present receiver would prefer- are they a hat wearer or do they prefer gloves? What I like the most about the glove gift set is that they can be worn whilst using a touch screen phone- genius!
However if you've been with your partner for a while then personally I'd suggest saving the money on all of the packaging of a gift set and just buy the items individually. Mr WLL travels a lot so what I've done this year is bought a few skincare bits for him to try and then lots of the deodorants and shower gels that he likes, this saves lots of money and allows me to put together a customised hamper for him full of products that he likes.
After Christmas, we have New Year and with a new year comes a new start. Lots of people come up with new years resolutions each year so let January 1st be a great time for your man to start his own skincare routine. Products like the Nip + Man Scrubbing Facial Wash, L'Oreal Men Expert Eye Roll On and the L'Oreal Pure and Matte Deep Exfoliating Wash are great options for any mans man that's wanting (or being forced) to start taking care of his skin.
As for deodorant, you can't go wrong with Lynx body spray and Original Source is a hit with everyone I know. Bundle a selection together with a some cellophane and a ribbon and you're good to go. Practical but money saving and everything will definitely get used!
For the man in your life who likes something a little more high end, then Mulberry is certainly the way to go. Quintessentially English and super high quality leather, the Oak Natural Leather Coin Wallet is perfect for any man. I'll be reviewing this separately at a later date but in short, this is great for those who like to carry cash, cards and change and there's plenty of room to carry all.
Another Mulberry item that would make a great gift for any man or woman who likes to travel, would be the Oak Natural Leather Passport Cover. Simple and sophisticated this is an understated gift that's super high quality.
DVDs make great Christmas presents and also provide lots of entertainment for while you're in the house during the dark, cold nights. These are a selection that I've picked up from Play.com for Mr WLL and I have lots more coming from Amazon!
I hope this gives you some good ideas on what to get the man in your life for Xmas!
