"Its the most wonderful time of the yearrrrrrrr" *sings*
As you can probably tell, I am getting into the Christmas spirit this morning with a good ol' sing along to some of my favourite festive tunes. I've just set my latest video live which is a guide to giving back at Christmas time and I've got to say, it took me an age to film and edit as my memory card has been playing up. Posts over the last week have been a little slow on my blog, I apologise but life sometimes gets in the way of blogging about the pretty things in life.
I really love blogging about my favourite products and style items but sometimes it can get a little too materialistic in the blogging world and when your mind is occupied by the latest beauty must have that you are coveting, it is easy to forget about those that do not have much in life. At the end of November I posted my Mens Christmas Gift Guide and Giveaway and for the first time in years, that is going to be the only gift guide that I'll post this year. Throughout the year, I have talked about so many lovely beauty products that would be great to receive for Christmas, so I wanted to focus on something a little different this December and that's giving back.
I'm a firm believer that if you enjoy material success in life, then you should pay it forward by giving back, not just keeping it to yourself. Many of us are comfortable in life, whether this is with our time or with goods or money and I believe that Christmas especially is a time of year where appreciating what you already have around you is very important. There are so many people out there who don't have someone to help them with life during the freezing cold months, who don't have loved ones around them to keep them company or do not have a roof over their heads, even in the UK. There are people further afield who don't have the luxury of clean running water, food to eat or a safe bed to sleep in. These people probably wont receive a gift this Christmas and while that may not be a priority to them as there are much more important things in life, I wanted to try to give back in my own way this year.
In my new video, I talk about 10 different ways that you can give back this Christmas, whether thats by taking part in Operation Christmas Child, helping the homeless or by giving your spare Boots 3 for 2 Christmas Gift to a local refuge for women. While doing this wont change the world in that it wont solve world hunger, find a cure for Ebola, cease wars or give everyone clean running water, it may bring a smile to someones face and that is what I am focusing on.
I was really inspired to actively give back after visiting Kenya recently so while I share the ways I specifically have given back this year and other suggestions, I have also included some photographs from my trip that you may want to look at as the video plays.
You can watch my new video on Youtube as it has all of the links that I talk about in the video listed in the description box.
Let me know in the comments how you have given back this year or tell me if you have been inspired to. Remember it isn't about how much or how little you can afford, it is about the time and effort you have given that really matters. When it comes down to it, people will not remember how much money you have spent or what you have given to them but they will remember how you made them feel and at this time of the year especially, feeling loved is so important.
Thank you xxx
