OOh that Space NK sale is so naughty and tempting isn't it.
This year I got in there sneakily early on Christmas Eve before I'd even seen the sale advertised and I managed to pick up two phenomenal sales bargains, a discounted Laura Mercier lipstick and a Nars concealer that I'd had my eye on for ages.
The Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer is one product that I have been coveting for the longest time. I had a £10 Space NK reward waiting in my account and I knew that I was going to spend it on this concealer as I'd heard so much about it. I'm going to be doing a full review of this very soon but let me tell you my initial thoughts; it is fabulous, covers everything I need it to and doesn't crease under my eyes. I am SO impressed with it. It was £22 and is absolutely worth it. I already know that I'll repurchase it.
Oh and I took a totally gamble on the colour but I went for Vanilla and it is PERFECT for me :)
Now onto my sale purchases, the first being from Laura Mercier. I bought the Gel Lip Colour in Temptation for £8.50 on a bit of a whim to test out the formula of this lipstick. It is gel based, so quite unlike anything I've tried before, and in quite a sheer yet dark colour. I've really been trying to get into darker colours this winter and I think that this is a good transitional lipstick for those wanting to try dark colours because the formula is easier to work with, it isn't bold and matte for example.
Both of the huge bargains I picked up were Christmas gift sets but I wanted to share them with you in case you're still able to pick them up in store. Plus, all of the products in the sets are available to buy separately, throughout the year, albeit for more money.
My biggest sale bargain was undoubtedly the By Terry Give Me 5 Smoky Eyes set which contains 5 full size products that are essential to creating a smoky eye make up look in 5 steps, in 5 minutes flat. The products come in a gorgeous red, metallic purple and silver graphic pouch that could easily be used as a small clutch, an envelope for travel documents or to store make up brushes in. I hate naff make up bags that come with gift sets but this one is really nice and it isn't branded on the outside either. There is also a handy booklet with different make up looks to try out included as well.
As soon as I saw this gift set, I knew I had to have it. While I wasn't in desperate need for each of the products in it straight away, I knew that there would come a time this year when I would run out of similar products and would need to repurchase them. At such a low price for five full size products, all of which I would use, I couldn't pass this up... £141 worth of products, on sale for £48 (reduced from the set price of £96)!!
First in the set is the By Terry Hyaluronic Eye Primer which plumps fine lines and wrinkles, reduces puffiness and infuses the skin around the eyes with an iridescent lustre. I'll be interested to see how this product in particular works as I have heard nothing but rave reviews about it. I'm currently using the Nars Smudge Proof Eye Shadow Base which is great for smoothing out my upper lid, providing a great base for applying my eye shadow on top of and I want to see how the By Terry compares. I've heard it is good for using under the eye too to stop concealer from creasing which is something I suffer with so I'm really interested to see how it works. It usually retails for £32 but if it works then it would definitely be worth it for me.
The second product in the set is the Ombre Blackstar in Bronze Moon. I actually have three of these eye shadow sticks already (Blonde Opal, Frozen Quartz and Misty Rock) that I bought after seeing many rave reviews about them early last year and while they didn't quite live up to the amazing things I had heard about them, I do think they're very good. Bronze Moon is a shade I have longed for so I'm really pleased to have it in my collection. At £29 these aren't cheap but if you're looking for a good quality swipe and go eye look, then they are a great addition to your make up bag.
The next product in the set is the Crayon Khol Terrybly which is a waterproof eye pencil in black. I have a few eye pencils to use up before I move onto using this one properly but from swatching it, I can see that it is super black in colour and very soft. I think this one will be great for blending out for a smoky look. This is the first that I've tried of the By Terry eye pencils but I'm hoping for good things! These usually retail for £23.50.
The fourth product is the black Terrybly Mascara (£33.50) which I have heard a lot about as it is a mascara that also boosts lash growth. I am SO excited to try this and I don't have too long to wait as my beloved Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara is almost finished.
The last product in the set has to be the one that I was the most excited about, the Eyebrow Liner. I couldn't believe when the set arrived and the eyebrow shade was blonde! I totally expected it to be brown as I think that it is quite rare to get a blonde product in a kit. The eyebrow liner is like a fine felt tip pen, very precise in application. I'm really looking forward to using this and at £23, if it is good, I would absolutely repurchase it.
The other huge bargain I bagged was the Aromatherapy Associates Ultimate Bath Jewels set of bath oils which was £27.50 down from £55.
This is another product that I have heard a lot about and I wanted the opportunity to try them out without committing to the full price, full size products. The Ultimate Bath Jewels set has ten 7.5ml bath and shower oils in it for £27.50, reduced from £55. I think I'm going to like the Support with lavender and peppermint the most but I'll wait until I've used them all before I make my mind up. I think I'll get two baths out of each bottle as we have a huge two person jacuzzi bath and just thinking about relaxing in the tub is making want to hop in right now!
I'll have reviews up of the products I bought all in due course but until then, I'd love to know what were your stand out sales buys this year? Let me know in the comments!
