Bootea 28 Day Teatox Review

Bootea 28 Day Teatox Review

Seen as though I've just placed my own order for some more Bootea, I thought that it was about time that I reviewed the detox tea that I've been trying out over the last month.

Detox teas have become very popular in recent months and Bootea first came on my radar back in the summer when my friend gave me some of hers to try.  The teatox is designed to encourage the natural process of elimination that occurs in our bodies to remove unwanted toxins and built up waste from our body via the lungs, kidneys, bowels and skin.

There are many different teatox teas available and this is the second type that I've tried. The first was the Slimming Solutions tea which tasted absolutely vile; a cross between celery and the lime pickle that you get at an Indian restaurant, which is certainly not something that I want to be drinking before bed.

What attracted me to Bootea was the incredible response it has had on social media, particularly on Instagram, with so many people posting their incredible before and after shots after using it and raving about how great it has made them feel.  I really liked the whole ethos behind the company, the fact that they're UK based and were promoting a healthy, active, balanced lifestyle which is something that I am aspiring towards, rather than promising inflated claims of quick weightloss.  On their website they state that 'We will never promote or encourage our customers to go on a 'diet' as we believe that healthy eating is a lifestyle and not a short term fix.'  Its great to see a company that has become so popular in such a short space of time sending out a really positive and sensible message to its consumers and potential customers.

Fast forward to the end of last year when they launched in Holland and Barrett, I got the opportunity to try out a full teatox for myself and what better way to kick off the New Year than by helping to detox my body.

When you purchase Bootea, you have the option of a 14 Day Teatox (21 tea bags) or a 28 Day Teatox (42 tea bags).  I was given two boxes of the 14 day teatox and have been using it consistently for 28 days since it arrived.

I cannot wait to tell you the results.

Bootea 28 Day Teatox Review

The detox consists of two types of tea, one tea that you drink every morning, known as the Daytime Detox and a tea that you drink every other evening known as the Bedtime Cleanse that has a light laxative effect to remove excess toxins and waste from the body.

On your first day on Bootea you have a cup of the Daytime Detox as you would everyday and then you take the Bedtime Cleanse tea at night and then miss a day, have one, miss a day, have one, etc.

Both of the teas combine an intense blend of natural ingredients housed in pyramid shaped bags that really let the ingredients and nutrients infuse well in the water.  All of the ingredients are pure, natural and completely free of preservatives and have been used for centuries for their health and wellbeing benefits.

The Daytime Detox contains a blend of Chinese Oolong tea, Maté leaves, Ginger root, Fennel seeds, Lemongrass, Dandelion leaf, Ginseng root, Gotu Kola leaves and Nettle leaves.  If you're used to drinking green tea then I'm sure you'll find this tea to be pretty easy drinking as it has a similar herbal taste with a hint of lemon to it.  Unlike the Bedtime Cleanse, the Daytime Detox doesn't have a laxative effect so you can drink it at any time of the day, although I find it more preferable to drink it first thing on a morning because it contains a small amount of caffeine to give you that stimulating boost each morning to help you to feel motivated and ready for the day.

The Bedtime Cleanse contains a blend of Senna leaves, Peppermint leaves, Fenugreek seeds, Liquorice roots, Burdock root, Hawthorn leaves, Valerian root and Psyllium seeds.  This is the tea that I prefer the taste of out of the two as I can really taste the peppermint in it which I like.

The Bedtime Cleanse is designed to help to induce a laxative effect in the body to naturally cleanse and detox your body.  This effect occurs roughly eight hours after consumption of the tea, depending on your digestive system.  For that reason, I would recommend starting your Bootea Teatox on a day where you're off work the next day so that you can judge how long the tea will take to take effect in your own body.

Bootea 28 Day Teatox Review

I drink my teas as they are but if you haven't had green tea or similar herbal teas in the past then you may find the taste a little strange to begin with and by all means you can add natural sweeteners, honey, lemon, maple syrup or soy milk to the boiling water.  I love the taste of the teas, the evening one more so than the morning.

The packaging of the teas is great because they come in a box and inside the box is two separately sealed bags with each type of tea in.  There's full instructions as to how to use the teas on the box as its best to leave the daytime one to infuse for less time than the evening one and it is really simple and easy to follow.  This is very fuss free and really, you're just making a cup of tea and drinking it as it lets your body do the work for you.

Now personally, I don't find the Daytime Detox tea to be particularly effective on me, at least no more so than the other stimulating teas that I drink like  my favourite Green Tea with Lemon from M&S.  I have used all of the Daytime Detox teas up and I've thoroughly enjoyed using them but I wouldn't say that I've found a massive benefit to using them over the other teas that I would usually drink each morning.

Where I did notice a difference is with the Bedtime Cleanse tea and for me, this is the absolute stand out product from Bootea.  If you're someone who feels bloated often or who struggles to go to the toilet regularly then I think that you'll love the results that this tea gives the body.

With my lifestyle I'm constantly on the go and one of the things that I really struggle with is eating at a sensible time and sometimes I don't end up having my evening meal until late which isn't good for my body and is something that I am working on to change.  Sometimes I'll feel really bloated and I'll wake up feeling sluggish and more tired than I was when I went to bed!  When I drink the Bedtime Tea, it has a very calming effect on my system and helps me to feel relaxed, chilled out and comfortably ready for bed.  The next day I wake up and naturally go to the toilet and feel as though I've been well and truly flushed out.   It isn't unpleasant, uncomfortable or uncontrollable.

I feel lighter, less bloated and more comfortable in my skin.  I often attend aquafit and aquazumba sessions early in the morning and I find that I feel better in my swimming costume after I've been using the Bedtime Cleanse tea.  It just fits better and I feel as though I can comfortably move around more.

I'm not going to talk about Bootea in terms of weightloss because although thats something that I'm working on, I didn't complete the Bootea Teatox with the aim of losing weight and as I've been getting back into exercising after my accident and eating healthily, I wouldn't be able to tell which pounds lost were due to the Bootea and which were to do with the food and exercise.  What I will say however, is that they go hand in hand and I very much feel as though Bootea does what it is supposed to in that it compliments an active, healthy lifestyle.

I like to drink the Daytime Detox hot as I'm getting ready for the day but I actually prefer to leave the Bedtime Cleanse until it has cooled a little.  This means that I'm leaving the bag to infuse for longer than the stated time on the packaging.

I've noticed that the longer you leave the bag to infuse for, the stronger the effects the next day which I do actually prefer.  The first time I'd done this I'd actually forgotten about the tea and came back to it when it was clay cold and the next day I did have a few cramps in my tummy and had to run to the toilet.  They weren't mega painful, just the feeling that you get when you've got an upset stomach.  Now I don't have any of those feelings whatsoever as I do leave the tea bag to infuse for longer but I don't let the tea go completely stone cold.  I probably leave the bag in for about 15 minutes rather than the 5 minutes it recommends on the packaging.

Results are still seen if you leave it to infuse for 5 minutes of course but if I'm feeling particularly bloated then I'll leave the bag in for longer.  I have the constitution of an ox so sometimes I need a little extra encouragement than the 5 minutes will give my body.

It is really important to keep up your water intake throughout the day, especially when cleansing your body in such a way as it can make you feel a little dehydrated.  I don't have that problem as I'm constantly chugging water but for those who don't drink enough, now will be the time to start.  I'd recommend getting a 2 litre bottle of water and keeping it with you throughout the day.  Knowing that you need to drink all of that water and having it with you as a visual reminder really spurs you on to drink it, I find at least.

Bootea 28 Day Teatox Review

I would highly recommend the Bootea 28 Day Teatox and after trying the full teatox for myself, I have actually ordered three bags of the Bedtime Cleanse to continue using every other night at home.  It truly works and while I was a little nervous about using the Bedtime Cleanse in the beginning, my mind was very quickly put at ease.  The effects aren't horrible in the slightest, it just helps you to go to the toilet and get rid of the toxins in your body.

If you're wanting to use Bootea to help you on your way to losing weight and to live a healthier lifestyle then they also provide a free eating plan that doesn't deprive you in the slightest and consists of breakfast, lunch, dinner and a mid morning and mid afternoon snack with plenty to choose from.  For a very small additional fee, there's also an exercise plan available too which I think is great for those who are looking for a little extra guidance.

Bootea is available to order either directly from their website, where you get more options, such as to buy the Bedtime Cleanse only and they ship worldwide, and from Holland and Barrett where you get some fantastic deals on the 14 or 28 day teatox, for example at the moment there's buy one get one half price across the Bootea range.

Have you tried Bootea before or another teatox brand?  How did it work for you?

  1. I've been on bootea now on and off for well over a year! It's great! Although the taste of the nighttime cleanse is awful for me! I've tried alternatives such as tiny tea and had no results. Bootea is perfect to reduce bloating which I love!!

  2. This is a very interesting post. I have never heard of these teas befor but I do like to drink herbal teas for the health benefits. Seems like there are lots of excellent, healthy ingredients in these teas and I'm glad of say you can add a sweetener as I like honey in my herbal teas. I'm going to look into this a bit more. Thanks!

  17. Hi Laura, I've been having a good read of your blog after discovering it for the first time today. I'm always interested in detox products as I work for Lemon Detox so it's great to see what other options are out there. I'm hearing lots of good things about BooTea. Lemon Detox is quite different in that you can do a full fast for 7 days (replacing food with the nutritional drink formula), do a relaxed version (where you swap one or two meals a day for a detox drink) and even as part of the 5:2 where you use the detox drink on your 2 fasting days each week. It offers the same body cleanse inside and out and helps shed a few pounds, but it can also be great if you're looking to lose more than a few pounds. It worked a treat for me when I needed to fit into a bridesmaid dress just after having my son! If you are interested in reviewing the Lemon Detox I would love to send you samples? Thanks Jen x jen@kategoodfellowpr.co.uk / www.lemondetox.com

  19. I found bootea terrible! It gave my horrendous cramps and made me feel awful. The day time tea is a complete waste of time as none of the ingredients do anything.

I've recently tried Eat Clean Tea and they are much better - it's not a teatox, just really good matcha green tea that speeds up your metabolism so there's no side effects. I've lost half a stone!

  21. Hi! This will be my first time ever drinking tea, let alone a detox. I'm really worried it won't work for the amount of money I'm paying. Does it really take more than a week to get here? I live in the US.

    1. Hi Ashley, if you're wanting to drink Tea as in English Breakfast Tea then Bootea is completely different. Bootea is a cleanse to flush out your system; it contains senna which is a laxative. So I think you'd need to weigh up whether you want the benefit of the cleanse or the taste of actual tea because this will be different. I don;t know about delivery time to the US either sorry as I'm UK based xxx

  22. Hi am happy with the bootea. I tried it with a colleague and we both lost weight just different percentages... the night tea is good at relieving bloating and a laxative.
But we both find that the day tea suppresses hunger. Whenever I take it on the morning I find that it curbs my appetite. I don't feel like eating and even when I see food I am not interested.
I usually feel very hungry if I have not had breakfast by 10am but now until 3pm I don't even remember food. And I don't feel weak.
