I was taking a bath a couple of nights ago and looked around the room to realise that I've actually used up lots more products since my last empties post and video. So here I am sat at my computer today to tell you all about the next load of empties that I'm throwing away. If you'd like a condensed version of this post then check out my empties video.
Undoubtedly, I've used up the most hair care products over the last few months starting with a couple of shampoos, one from Herbal Essences and one from Philip Kingsley. The Herbal Essences Dazzling Shine Shampoo does exactly what it says on the bottle in that it is a shine reflecting shampoo and my hair glistened after use. I thought this would be too heavy for my oily hair but not at all, it is really good and while I probably wouldn't repurchase it, I'm happy that I used it. I've also used the conditioner to go with this shampoo and have about one use left out of it. Bottles of this size are ideal if you're going on holiday for a week or two, they're perfect.
In contrast, I also used up the Philip Kingsley Pure Silver Shampoo which was absolutely useless and didn't do anything to brighten my hair and get rid of brassy tones. I'm so unimpressed with Philip Kingsley as a brand. I used up their Elasticizer as well and it is actually my second time trying it as this was a little mini I got in a gift set and that was so rubbish on my hair too. I definitely wouldn't recommend their products. Another high end hair product that I wasn't impressed with is the Shu Uemura Art of Hair Silk Bloom Restorative Treatment. You can read my full review in this post however in short, I think that there's far better products out there for much less than a product that gives you very little change out of £40!
One hair care brand that I would recommend is O'Right. I finally finished up my huge bottle of their Goji Berry Volumizing Conditioner and loved it. You can read my full review here. From here, it gets pretty positive on their hair front with my most favourite product, dry shampoo. The Batiste Dry Shampoo in Floral Essences was released towards the end of last year and it is a fabulous addition to their line. It has a bright and lively fragrance that smells sweet and fruity. I absolutely loved using this to refresh my hair on mornings where I wasn't washing my hair and as always with Batiste, it did a truly fabulous job at banishing my greasy roots and adding some bounce and volume to my hair. I would absolutely repurchase this!
A dry shampoo that I liked as much as the Batiste is the Charles Worthington Style Setter Dry Shampoo from their Salon At Home Range. I have a full review of this dry shampoo here and I would definitely buy it again IF for some reason Batiste wasn't available. Oh and it smells LUSH! The last hair product that I have used up recently is the TIGI Bed Head After Party smoothing cream and I must admit, I've had this for YEARS... at least 8 and although that's probably minging to some of you, it was still working perfectly well right until the very last drop! I pump a small amount out, smooth it between my hands and run it through the mid lengths and ends of my hair to smooth everything down to give me a really sleek style. Its also good for if you've been on a night out and used a lot of hairspray and your hair is looking a little dry the next day as it really pulls it back around!
Now onto hair removal and it'll not surprise you that the two products I've used up are from Nair as that's my favourite hair removal brand and the only one that I use because it doesn't irritate my skin whatsoever while being super effective. The first one that I've used up is the Nair Sensitive Cream (review here) and the second is the Nair Brazilian Spa Clay Shower Power Cream (review here), well actually two of those. Both of which I would recommend and regularly repurchase.
Keeping my body fuzz free is a routine I like to maintain all year round along with exfoliating. I've got two empty products that I've had stashed away for a while now and they're both from Soap and Glory. First there's the Smoothie Star Breakfast Scrub (review here) which has been a firm favourite of mine for years and secondly theres a travel sized version of the Soap and Glory Sugar Crush Body Scrub (review here) which i'll forever remember as being the scrub that I used on my body the night before and morning of my wedding.
I've used up a couple of noteworthy shower gels recently, these being Grass from Lush and the L'Occitane Verbena Shower Cream, the latter of which I would repurchase because it left my skin soft and creamy but I wouldn't buy the former again as I didn't care for the scent. I rarely include shower gels in these posts as they're a bit mundane I suppose!
Moving onto skincare and there's one product here that's a little bit of a cheat, the Ultrabland Facial Cleanser from Lush. I'm throwing this out before it is anywhere near finished because I hate it. So difficult to work with, ridiculously thick and hard to remove, even with a face cloth, it doesn't take all of my make up off and leaves my skin feeling dirtier than before I started. On a more positive note, I have used up loads of Lush bubble bars which I LOVE.
I've used up another cleanser that has a balm texture and this one is from Balance Me. Their Cleanse and Smooth Face Balm is effective at cleaning the skin and I enjoyed using it (review here) much more than Ultrabland however I wont be repurchasing it as I've discovered that I much prefer cream cleansers to balm ones. I've also used up the Sothy's Purity Lotion that I reviewed here and the Dirty Works 2 in 1 Blemish Buster Scrub and Mask that I reviewed here.
A skincare product that I would definitely repurchase is the Manuka Doctor ApiClear Purifying Face Mask (review here) which is a clay based mask that cleanses the pores without drying out the skin. I found that it was ideally suited to my oily skin. One product that wasn't suited to my skin type was the Gatineau Age Benefit cream (review here) which is aimed at drier, more mature skins than my own however despite this, I did really, really enjoy using it. I wouldn't repurchase it at the moment as I'm trying out so many other creams but I would recommend it.
Smelling good is really important to me, I like to make sure I'm wearing a good deodorant and fragrance at all times. The last one that I used up was the Soft and Gentle Orange Blossom and Grapefruit Anti-Perspirant Deodorant which note only smells amazing but it keeps me smelling fresh and clean all day. I love the way that it is really gentle on my skin yet so high performing, regardless of whether I'm working out at the gym or just hanging out at home. It doesn't leave any white marks on my clothes either which is so important as I do tend to wear a lot of black tops! I'd definitely recommend this and I would absolute buy it again.
Another body product that I'd absolutely recommend is the Victoria's Secret Fragrance Mist in the Pear Glacé scent which has the smell of sugared pear and casaba melon. It smells so fruity but really fresh making it a great option for using on your body after you've been to the gym or had a hot bath. I love this scent but I have so many VS Fragrance Mists to use up, it'll be a long time before I repurchase it!
I've finally managed to use up some makeup products, would you believe it?! First of all theres the Estee Lauder Double Wear Light Foundation (review here) that I don't think I'll ever not repurchase and then there's the Clinique Gentle Light Powder that I would love to repurchase but I can't as I think it is now discontinued! I have also used up the Urban Decay De-Slick Mattifying Powder which is absolutely AMAZING at controlling oil, much better than the spray and I would definitely buy this again!
Another product that I used on my wedding day was the Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Foundation Powder in 07. I loved using this powder as it gives a really airbrushed finish on the skin and keeps my oily skin at bay. Annoyingly, I've also ran out of my favourite ever mascara, Too Faced's Better Than Sex Mascara (review here) which is sold out everywhere. As soon as I can get my hands on this I will be purchasing it!
Another makeup favourite that I've used up is the Duo lash adhesive which I have been using for years and years. I've just repurchased it and the tube seems much smaller than my previous one, has anyone else found that? Anyway, it is the best lash glue around and I'd absolutely recommend it!
I'm someone who ALWAYS smudges their nail polish... well that was until I started using Mavadry from Mavala. This is a brilliant top coat that dries polish in literally SECONDS. I will definitely buy this again at some point but for now I'm trying out a slightly cheaper one.
I also have a few empty products that I used up a while ago that I haven't included in this video because I was sick of the sight of the packaging and threw them out ages ago!
The first being the Neal and Wolf Smoothing Blow-dry Balm. This stuff is absolutely incredible and I have about 4 back ups of this in my collection! It is suitable for any length of hair but I find it the most effective when my hair is long or when I have hair extensions in.
Simply dispense a small amount out of the bottle and smooth through towel dried hair and then blow dry with a round brush. It leaves the hair looking as soft and smooth as silk without any static at all, it really is a fabulous product and I cannot recommend it enough. It smells absolutely incredible too!
Buy it on offer here.
This is the Volume Million Lashes Mascara in Extra- Black by L'Oreal and it has to be my favourite drugstore mascara ever. It gives fabulous volume, lots of length and makes my lashes look fabulous. I have so many mascaras to get through at the moment but when I have finished them, I would have no issues at all with repurchasing this one, its great.
You can buy it here.
In complete contrast, the Avon Super Curlacious Mascara is the biggest load of rubbish I've ever used. It literally did NOTHING for my lashes and I'll certainly never be purchasing it again!
That's all of my empties, I cannot wait to throw them out now and get some extra space back!
I'd love it if you would give my new video a thumbs up!
