Over the last week or so, I have been shopping using some of the money that I have been saving up for my holiday clothes. I wanted to find some pieces that were a little bit out of my comfort zone and some affordable trend led pieces.
Believe it or not, I don't actually buy that many clothes but when I do, I usually like to save up and buy a small amount of pieces that are built to last. I don't have the cash to be buying lots and lots of new clothes every season so I like to buy things that I can use for years to come. However on this occasion, I was looking for both high quality, built to last pieces and for some fast fashion pieces that might not last longer than a summer or two whether that be because they're a trend item or the way that they're made or incase I change size or taste.
I've got to say that I'm so happy with all of the pieces that I got and I couldn't wait to show you them all in my latest video. I decided to put together this blog post for those of you who don't watch my videos but also to show those that do, some of the pieces up close with an accurate portrayal of their colour as my ring light had broken literally the minute before I sat down to film the video. So annoying but focusing on getting the video filmed helped to stop me from crying out of frustration haha.
The first shop that I went to was Next and I bought two pairs of earrings while also picking out some gifts for one of my best friends birthday.
The first pair are these gorgeous silver dangly earrings (£6) that have two different sized rings on them. They're half silver glitter and half shiny silver. These aren't necessarily for me to take on holiday with me but I don't have many dressy silver earrings that aren't studs and I thought these would be perfect!
The second pair that I bought were these fine heart shaped dangly earrings (£5) that are on a chain with a long fine stem at the back. Again, these aren't pieces that I bought with the intention of taking away with me to Morocco but I think they'll look lovely and understated, perfect for date nights.
Annoyingly, although these are the latest designs at Next, I cannot find them on their website at all so if you like the look of these, you'll perhaps have to try in store. I've found that with a lot of pieces from Next and it really irritates me!
The next shop that I headed to was Garage Shoes. I say I headed there, I was actually just passing and I spotted these through the window. They're so similar to a pair of cream flip flops that I had last year except they had a cream enamel heart whereas these have a gold and diamante heart and they're in a bright coral. They're sooooo beautiful and will make fabulous shoes for around the pool. I love to wear glitzy girly shoes and accessories even during the day and these will be ideal. I like that I'll easily be able to wear them at night as well and I think they'll look gorgeous with a maxi dress.
These are only £9.99 and they are so comfortable and don't rub at all. I'd really recommend them. You can buy them here in coral and here in nude.
The next pieces that I bought are all from Primark and it was so lovely to walk around there shopping with my friend because it was relatively quiet and lots of new stock had just been added to the rails.
The first piece that I bought was this white crochet waistcoat (£12) with long fringing at the bottom, which makes it a piece that is bang on trend. Although this was intended for my holiday, I have worn it already with my denim leggings/jeans and a plain vest top and I loved the effortlessly cool effect that it created. I can't wait to put this over maxi dresses and shorts and tops while I'm away. Its going to look lush with light wash denim and big brown sunnies.
The next item that I bought is this coral crochet and fringe top (£12) which I think will look fabulous worn over the top of a black maxi dress while I'm away or on top of my tankini top with some denim shorts.
I love wearing my hair up in a bun all year round but I think its great when the spring and summer months come because I can get all of my floral bun rings out to pop around them. I like to accessories and wear matching pieces, even around the pool, so when I saw this mint flower bun ring (£2), I thought that it would be perfect to wear with my mint tankini from Simply Be that I bought last year.
As soon as I saw this kimono (£8), I knew that I had to grab it. It has this gorgeous print all over it with so many pastel and muted neon colours on it. I think that this will be perfect for wearing over my swimwear around the pool but also with dresses and so many other items!
I thought that this bracelet (£3) would be perfect to wear with my pastel clothing items this spring. I love the layered bracelet look and this one is really easy to wear as it is actually all one bracelet, made to look like individual layered pieces.
I am loving lime right now so when I saw this waterfall cardigan (£7), I knew that I had to have it to wear all through the summer. It has white flecks through it which give it more of a muted neon look which I think makes it look a little more wearable. This is a large fit so you may need to size down when buying, I'd recommend trying it on in the store first.
Another bright top is this coral jumper (£5) that also has white flecks running through it. The sleeves are 3/4 length and the back has a split which I think helps to make this jumper an ideal layering piece. I quite fancy taking this on to the plane with me as it would be a good top to pop over something comfortable to keep me warm during the flight but I could easily pop it into my bag without it taking up too much room at all.
The last Primark item that I bought is this beautiful kaftan (£10). I first saw this on Instagram and from the moment that I saw it, I knew that it had to be mine! It has a beautiful light peachy orange colour at the top that fades into a pinky coral shade at the bottom. I love the deep V at the neckline with the silver bead detailing.
Next up is more of an investment purchase by me at thats the Michael Kors Meg Flat Thong Toe Post Sandals from House of Fraser. I really needed a pair of super comfortable sandals for walking longer distances in and these fit the bit perfectly. The sole is so flexible and it isn't paper thin which makes them really comfortable to walk in and the rope detailing helps my foot to grip onto them while I'm walking.
The gold leather is so soft and doesn't rub my feet at all and the elasticated buckle fastening ensures that they fasten securely to my feet. I adore the bow detailing and although they were pricey, they are worth every single penny.
I also ordered a couple of pieces from one of my favourite online websites, Boohoo. The Leah Racer Back Maxi Dress is available in black and cobalt blue and I opted for the latter as I had a sneaky suspicion that it would be the same as a maxi dress that I got from FD Avenue last year and it is! I love this maxi because it is so effortless and feels really comfortable to wear.
The second piece that I bought from BoohooPLUS is the Ruby Open Shoulder Shift Dress which is in a stunning bright lime colour. This dress is a waffle jersey material making it the perfect dress to wear at night, rather than during the day as I had first intended when I ordered it. This dress was in the clearance section and I don't think that it is available any more, despite only ordering it last week.
The next two pieces are from Yours Clothing and I bought them to wear together, perhaps to the airport when I go away. The trousers are the Black and White Floral Rose Print Textured Slim Leg Trousers and aside from loving the bold print on them, I thought that they would look amazing with the lime green top below.
This lime oversized top looks fabulous against the black and white of the printed trousers. It has half length batwing sleeves and a very extreme dip back which give it a really laid back look and turn the trousers from a smarter attire to something that looks great when worn during the day with some flat sandals.
I feel as though the pieces that I bought are really on trend and fashionable, especially the lime with the black and white, and those aren't necessarily terms that I'd usually associate with myself. I wouldn't consider myself to be fashion focused or someone who wears the latest trends. I like what I like and I wear what I like and I wont just buy something because it has been seen on a catwalk or on a celebrity.
I'm so excited to wear these pieces this spring and summer! I'd love it if you could give my video a thumbs up.
