Since I had an accident a couple of years ago, I've been unable to do as much exercise as I used to and for a very, very long time, I couldn't do anything at all. However this year I have been trying my very best to get back into moving more not only for my health but just for my general well being.
While I wouldn't say that I am at the point where I could call myself an active person, as I do deal with a lot of pain that can hinder the amount of activity that I can do, I am starting to move more now than I have over the last couple of years.
One of the things that I have been trying to do is to go on short walks or walk on a treadmill for a short amount of time. Before my accident, I used to be able to walk at a fast pace on a high incline however I can't achieve that at the moment so I walk at a steady pace on the flat level but even doing a small amount there is better than nothing.
I wanted to show you the shoes that I have been wearing for my walks because they have proven to be very comfortable. In fact, they are definitely the most comfortable shoes that I have ever worn to walk around in.
These are the Sketchers Go Walk shoes. They have three different models and I believe these are the Sketchers Go Walk 2 although I can't be certain. I have them in the bright coral colour but they are available in a whole array of different colours, patterns and styles. They're available for women, men and children.
I bought mine from Brantano for just under £50 and its the best money I've ever spent. Before I had these, I would always find that I would get a lot of pain in my feet and legs when walking or running (pre accident) and my shoes would often rub my feet causing blisters. This has never happened with these shoes and they're so easy to put on as they literally slip on. You can wear them with or without socks and the great thing about them is that you can pop them in the washing machine and they don't change shape, colour or lose their support.
Speaking of support, these trainers feel so secure on my feet. They hold them really well, are very true to size and my feet don't flop around in them. They have an anti-microbial sockliner to help to prevent odour and slippage. They are INCREDIBLY light weight and are made to actually mimic a natural walking experience, as though you're not wearing shoes at all. They are extremely flexible and are made to flex and twist to allow your foot to move around naturally.
Regardless of what surface I am walking on, they absorb impact extremely well, better than any other shoe I have worn which enables me to continue walking further should I feel that I am able to. Since they are so comfortable to wear, I really feel as though they have helped to encourage me to keep going to try to build up my activity because they don't hinder me in any way. If you're someone who is struggling to find shoes that are comfortable to walk in or perhaps you're wanting to start to become more active yourself then I would HIGHLY recommend the Sketchers Go Walk shoes.
Obviously because of my injuries, I cannot do anything that is particularly high impact or fast paced so I can't say whether these would be any good for running or doing a body combat style class but if you're wanting to get into walking then these are FABULOUS.
I would also suggest that a plain black pair like these would be ideal for if you have a job where you need to stand on your feet for a lot of the day. Often ballet flats have such thin soles where if you're standing on a hard floor for a long time, they can really start to hurt your feet but I'm sure that these wouldn't be nearly as bad so definitely check those out if that applies to you.
The Sketchers Go Walk trainers are available from so many different retailers, such as Schuh, Marisota, the Sketchers website and Debenhams. There are plenty more websites that stock them so have a little google if you can but these are just the places that I have ordered from before so can recommend their service.
