Hooker & Young Hair Update & 5th Birthday Event

Hooker and Young Hair Salon

Towards the end of last summer, I decided that I wanted to grow my hair.  I played around with darkening my hair a little and then at the start of this year, I headed to Hooker and Young in Wynyard to have my hair cut and brightened.  You can read all about my first visit here.

I had a little bit cut off to get rid of the dead ends and some highlights put through it to lighten it back up and then I left it to do its thing until I visited in May, just before my holiday.

Aside from needing my highlights topping up to keep my hair looking ash toned rather than golden and warm, my hair was in really good condition and had grown quite a lot.

I didn't go for much of a change.  I had my highlights done and a trim but I did switch my parting.  The last time I had my hair cut at Hooker and Young, I had my hair cut and styled into a centre partying but quite soon after having it done, I realised that it just wasn't working for me.  I kept putting my hair into a side parting and felt much more comfortable with it that way day to day.

This time, I had my hair cut into the side parting that I used to have with a long sweeping fringe that meant that I could easily switch it to a centre parting for nights out where I want to have my hair in big sweeping curls.

I'm so happy with my hair at the moment and feel as though it is getting stronger and healthier by the day.  I'm going to be booking my next appointment very soon but I think towards the end of the year I'll do a round up post so that you can see how far my hair has come along in the last year.  I'm hoping it will have grown a lot!

Hooker and Young Hair Salon

The Hooker and Young salon that I visited is in Wynyard but they have a 5 award winning salons in the North East including one in Darlington.  I recently attended a party at that salon to celebrate their 5th Birthday.

Gary Hooker and Michael Young have an absolute gem here with this salon, spread over two amazing floors and what a fabulous night they put together.  With Raspberry Collins and Virgin Mojito cocktails and canapés of beetroot and goats cheese tart and ham hock, served by Houndgate Townhouse, we were well catered for as an evening of hair and beauty ensued.

Some of the top stylists at Hooker & Young were on hand for style advice, demonstrations and product recommendations where discounts were also available for those looking to try something new or repurchase their favourites.

Hanging out with the lovely Katie from KatieJaneOnline
HD Brows were there talking about their fabulous products as well as Arbonne cosmetics but if you read my review, you'll know I'm not the biggest fan of their makeup so I headed straight over to check out the Stella and Dot range of jewellery and accessories.  Wow, beautiful pieces galore.  I've seen many of their jewellery items online but to be able to feel the quality was great as I'm always wary about buying online until I know whether something is worth the price tag or not.  Now I know that it definitely is.
