A beautiful dress is a powerful piece to have in your wardrobe.
Powerful because it needs no introduction, accessories or bells and whistles. It speaks for itself and is effortless in doing so. It is often a pop on and instantly feel pretty wardrobe pleaser.
One such dress that does all of the talking is the Little Mistress Print Maxi Dress.
The incredible print is what initially drew me to this on the Simply Be website. The mixture of pinks within the floral print against the white backdrop is captivating. It gives the dress so much dimension and movement, especially on the flared skirt and it really draws your eye to it.
I wore this dress to the 'An Audience with Faye Tozer' event at Bonbar in Newcastle last night and felt that it was the perfect outfit for such a special, classy occasion. A couple of ladies stopped me to ask where my dress was from and they said that they'd noticed how beautiful it was when I'd walked in.
This is definitely one of those dresses that attracts compliments for all of the right reasons and now that I've tried a dress from this brand, I would definitely look to order dresses from the Little Mistress Plus size line again. They make such gorgeous dresses that are perfect for occasion wear whether you're going to a ball, a wedding, special event or christening.
This dress feels incredibly well made from the chiffon outer layer to the full off-white lining inside which stops the dress from being able to be seen through. The bust is lightly padded and pleated with the most gorgeous intricate beading detail on it. I love little details like this as it subtly enhances the look of the dress.
The bodice of the dress is fairly fitted in that it does have a structure to it but the back as an elasticated panel with a shirring detail making it so easy to put on, for an accurate and comfortable fit. The dress falls beautifully from under the bust and is very flattering.
I feel that in creating this dress, no stone was left unturned and the attention to detail really has to be seen to be appreciated. I love that the price really reflects the quality of the dress without charging through the roof. Occasion wear can be expensive but this dress is £75 currently down to £67.50 in the sale and I really think that it is worth every penny. While it isn't the cheapest dress out there, in buying it you're not getting the cheapest quality dress either. It is stunning on and the quality of it can be seen and felt yet this dress and the others from Little Mistress are no where near as expensive as those from similar brands that create plus size occasion wear like Forever Unique, whose dresses I lust after just as much as Little Mistress!
I originally got this dress to wear on holiday in Morocco. Whenever I go on holiday, I always like to save my favourite, or most glamorous dress, for the last night or for a gala night if there is one at the hotel. I kept this dress for then as I thought that it was such a statement piece. As you can see between the way I have styled it while at home and holiday, there isn't much difference- small clutch, some metallic accessories (gold for away, silver at home) and flat sandals. There really isn't any need to go to town when accessorising this dress as it really is the centre of attention in itself and any other fussy accessories would just be an unwelcome distraction when you're wearing a dress like this!
Something important to note is that this dress is very long which is great for those who struggle to find maxi dresses that are long enough for them. I'm wearing this dress with flat shoes in both looks and on my 5ft 5" body, it is most definitely floor length. With heeled shoes, the length of the dress isn't an issue at all but I don't like to wear high shoes when I'm wearing a maxi dress. While I could do with a couple of inches taken off the bottom of the dress, I didn't have any trouble walking in it in flats and I just held it to the side slightly when walking up stairs!
This Little Mistress dress is available from Simply Be in sizes 12 to 26. I tend to find that their dresses run small to size. I sized up a couple of times from my usual size but could easily have just sized up the once so that is definitely something for me to keep in mind when I order from them the next time.
