When I heard that Jessie J was going to be performing at the Scarborough Open Air Theatre, I knew that it would be worth the drive down to see her. Scarborough isn't too far away and I'm a huge fan of Jessie J. I honestly think that she doesn't get the credit she deserves for the amazing voice that she has. One of the true talents of our generation in my opinion.
I wore a new casual outfit for the occasion from plus size fashion brand Polly Grace who stock lots of gorgeous clothes at really affordable prices. If you love kimonos, especially in the summer months and for your holidays then I'd suggesting checking them out in particular as they have a beautiful selection of prints that are quite different to others that I have seen around at the moment.
Polly Grace asked me if I'd like to pick out a top and skirt/trousers combination and I spent a while looking around on their website for pieces that were just right for me.
I saw the Lauren Trousers and lovely how effortlessly laid back and cool they were. I love printed trousers but the ones that are in my current wardrobe are quite dressy and I've been looking for some casual ones for a while now. These seemed perfect and when they arrived, I was so happy to discover that they were exactly what I had been looking for.
The Lauren Trousers have a gorgeous ethnic print on them that looks even better in real life than it did on the photos on the Polly Grace website. I love the cute elephants!
The material is very soft and draped which gives them a laid back look. The legs are designed to be a wide and relaxed fit and they have deep pockets on either side of the legs. Theres a deep shirred elasticated waist for comfort and at the cuffs as well so that the trousers come back in towards your ankles rather than them being fully wide leg.
For the size, I'm probably not the best person to ask as I always struggle with trousers as my legs are so much slimmer than my stomach. I always find that I need to try on two or three sizes before I find the ones that are right for me, which is why I very rarely choose trousers as review items on my blog.
What I did with these trousers is I ordered the largest size that they had available, thinking that the legs would be wide anyway. They feel really comfortable to wear and although now that I've tried them on, I know that the next size down or two sizes down would have been a good fit, I don't think that they look too big. The elasticated waistband is great because it ensures that they stay up but the bottoms of the trouser legs don't even come close to touching my ankles. I don't think that this looks bad at all and I'm quite used to it as I have this problem often with slim fit trouser legs and skinny jeans!
Polly Grace also stock the Lauren Trousers in a different colour and pattern which I'm actually thinking about buying as this style of trouser is perfect to wear to my belly dancing class as you need very free moving, hareem style trousers.
For the top, I picked the Lara T Shirt and I absolutely love it. It is dual sized so I opted for the 22/24 as I usually take a 22 and I found that the fit is very true to size.
The Lara T Shirt is so comfortable to wear and I love that it can be dressed up with a statement necklace or down with trousers like these for a more casual look. I picked the black as I thought that it would match the trousers the best but it is available in lots of different blacks. I love how it is a true black colour, not wishy washy in the slightest and it washes really well. I've worn this top so many times since I got it and have found that it really holds its shape very well.
My favourite part of it has to be the little turned back cuff detail on the short sleeves. This is a feature that I'm really loving on tops right now and this t shirt has already become a summer staple for me.
I paired my Polly Grace outfit with my tan fringe bag that I got earlier this year as I thought that it would be easy to carry all of my things in while still being comfortable to wear with the across the body strap.
For jewellery, I wore my special silver bracelet that Mr WLL got me and some Primark bangles.
I also took my gorgeous matte gold aviators along with me as the sun was ducking (I typed the wrong word there... pleased I proof read this post before pressing publish!!) in and out of the clouds all of the time!
The concert was brilliant- Jessie J was seriously amazing as always. The Scarborough Open Air Theatre is a bit of a strange venue. It is quite small which was great for anxious lil ol' me but it also means that you get a great view of the stage and no one is really at the back. However there's also a big lake and walkway in between the stage and the seating which is just so strange. It kind of spoils the atmosphere, especially as Jessie J is an artist who really likes to interact and talk with the crowd. The massive space in between us meant that she was talking to the crowd rather than with but her witty banter still came across incredibly well and of course her singing was superb.
If you have the opportunity to go to see Jessie J then I'd highly recommend seeing her in concert. This was my third time and she just keeps getting better and better!
