intu Metrocentre #NewLeaf & Transformed House of Fraser

Last night I had the pleasure of attending the most fabulous event at the  intu Metrocentre which is my favourite place to shop in not only the North East but the whole of the UK.

The event was part of their A/W Fashion Live campaign which included a fashion show featuring this season's key fashion looks, all of which are available to buy right now from some of the best stores in the intu Metrocentre, as well as a sneak peek at the amazing transformation of the House of Fraser store and the new brands that are headed there in the coming month.

I'm always recommending the intu Metrocentre as a place to shop as its bang on the A1 with ample parking, its all indoors so you're not having to mess on with an umbrella ducking in and out of stores when it rains and as well as having an abundance of different highstreet stores all under one roof, it has lots of entertainment facilities and restaurants too that make it a day out for all of the family.

I particularly recommend this shopping centre to plus size women and men who are looking to go shopping for clothes.  It has a relatively large selection of plus size shops that really rival the choice offered by other shopping centres.  There's Simply Be, Yours Clothing, New Look with an Inspire section, Evans and Jacamo and since the other stores in the Metrocentre are very sizeable, they usually have a good stock of the larger sizes that they sell too so they're definitely worth a look in as well.

We started the evening outside of House of Fraser before being led inside for bubbles and canapés prepared by the department store's brand new restaurant Café Botanico.  The Mediterranean inspired restaurant is due to open in the coming days and customers will be able to enjoy prosecco and cocktails alongside a selection of classic Italian dishes, pastries, tapas, board and pizza.  If the canapés were anything to go by, they'll certainly be in for a tasty treat.  I know where I'll be heading on my next shopping trip!

After catching up with my lovely friend and fellow blogger, Pixie, we enjoyed a short talk from store manager, Steve Clarke, who couldn't wait to tell us all about the multi-million pound refurbishment that the store has undergone.

The extensive works began in July this year and I can certainly say that as a regular shopper in the store, there was very minimal disruption to the customer experience while the work has been carried out, at least from what I experienced.  The completely new look store is due to be completed by Thursday 12th November, just in time for Christmas and if our sneak peek was anything to go by it is going to look amazing.  I'll be heading back there for the official launch to capture photos of the store in all its glory!

For a start, they've extended the store out further into the mall, making it far larger and more spacious.  This can not only be seen but felt, especially when walking around the shop as there's a lot more room in between the different concessions, everything is laid out impeccably well so you can really see the gorgeous pieces that you're looking at.

Speaking of concessions, House of Fraser will have 20 new brands on offer in the store and the beauty hall in particular will house an expansive range of high end, luxury counters for their new and existing brands that will really make this House of Fraser store world class.

If you love beauty as much as I do then you'll be dying to see the Giorgio Armani, Jo Malone, Tom Ford, NarsKiehls, Creed and Aqua di Parma luxury counters that have been added to House of Fraser which are not only a first for this store but a first for the Metrocentre as a whole.  These are brands which up until now, have only been available online from the House of Fraser website and I for one, cannot wait for them to come into store.

I love Jo Malone and regularly order from the House of Fraser website to have them delivered into store using their free Buy and Collect Next Day Service which has always worked impeccably well for me.  However being able to go into the store and physically smell and touch a product will open up a new shopping experience for me as I'll be able to try scents that I would otherwise have not ordered because I hadn't been able to smell them beforehand.

Urban Decay are also joining the beauty arm of the store and you should see the new Crème de la Mer counter; it is to die for!

Something that I am really excited about is the fact that House of Fraser is set to become a somewhat pampering destination for beauty services within the Metrocentre.  They've added several new beauty treatment rooms that all of the brands will be able to utilise and there will be a dedicated Decleor spa where customers can book treatments as well as a SHOW blow dry bar, a revamped Nails Inc nail bar and an Estee Lauder 10 minute beauty bar.  There's even an Aveda counter with pop up mirrors where you can be preened to complete your look.

However it isn't just the beauty department thats had a dramatic face lift.  The womenswear and fashion accessories departments have been completely transformed with the addition of premium brands such as Michael Kors, Lauren by Ralph Lauren and Whistles.  On the ground floor, there's a 'World of Shoes' department thats going to have shoe lovers hotfooting it to the shelves!

They've even made the Mulberry section far larger than it was before to make way for extra pieces and as someone who has purchased all of her Mulberry pieces from there, this makes me exceptionally happy!

What I love the most about the upgrades to the womenswear department at House of Fraser though is the addition of stylists in the fitting rooms.  Having a dedicated stylist on hand to help with your outfit and fashion choices whether it be for yourself or someone else is a first for House of Fraser as a company and a service that I think will prove invaluable in a store with SO much choice and variety!

After finding out all about the improvements to the store, we were taken out into the mall to Town Square where we were seated ready for the A/W Fashion Live show hosted by Kelly from Heart Radio's Breakfast Show.

We got to see the gorgeous bag before the fashion show and were given one to take away with us afterwards too.

The fashion show was great to see with some surprising choreography from the male models in particular that definitely put a smile on all of our faces.  It was great to see the autumn fashion thats available in stores right now from the likes of Blue Inc, Miss Selfridge, Simply Be, Top Shop and Dorothy Perkins.  The Canada Goose jackets that are available exclusively from Tessuti in the Metrocentre were absolutely stunning, as were the pieces that House of Fraser had on the catwalk.
