milk_shake Haircare and Bodycare Review

Since I got back from Turkey in September, I've been trying out some products from a haircare brand that are new to me called milk_shake.

I'd heard a little bit about them online from girls who had bought their products and didn't have a bad word to say about them so I was very excited to try them out and to see how they would perform with my super oily hair.

milk_shake are an award winning, salon professional Italian brand  that predominantly focus on haircare of which they have a wide range of shampoos and conditioners, treatments and styling products however they also have a bodycare line as well.  All of their products are created with a blend of milk and yoghurt proteins together with active ingredients like lychee, hibiscus and mint.  As well as full size items, they have plenty of travel sizes and gift sets available too which I love from brands as I like to gift the products that I love to my friends and be able to take my favourite products away on holiday with me when I travel.

milk_shake have recently released their new Sweet Camomile line which is formulated with organic camomile, wildflower honey, soothing Aloe Vera gel, papaya and apricot extract to bring out the brilliance of blonde hair without the use of parabens or SLES.  I've been trying out the shampoo and conditioner from the range and I have to say that I am seriously impressed.  I don't think I've ever used a shampoo and conditioner that I've instantly loved for their softening properties as much as these.

The Sweet Camomile Shampoo and Conditioner are very much a duo and through trial and error, I have found that they work their absolute best when used together.  The first thing that I noticed about these products, aside from the shampoos bright yellow colour, was the scent.  They have a strong floral camomile fragrance but theres a sweetness in there too that is very apparent, just like honey.  It was only when I read up about these products after I was so blown away with how they worked that I discovered that they smelt like honey and flowers because thats exactly whats in them!

This shampoo and conditioner is perfect for daily use and all hair types.  The shampoo lathered up really nicely and I really felt as though it was cleaning my hair well without stripping it or making it feel dry.  From the moment that I popped the conditioner on my hair, I felt as though it was being nourished but not over loaded.  However I have used lots of shampoos and conditioners that have felt as good as this when I have used them in the shower so this didn't exactly wow me.

It was once I got out of the shower and started to dry my hair that I could really see how amazing this shampoo and conditioner are.  My hair felt incredibly soft and silky.  It looked so smooth and had this incredible shine to it that I haven't seen in my hair before from shampooing and conditioning alone.  I find that with having blonde hair, it is actually quite difficult for me to achieve a natural looking shine in my hair and it can often look quite dull.  Whereas using these products really added a beautiful shine to my hair and actually brought out the different tones of blonde in my hair.  I believe it is the camomile in the formula that helps to revive highlights in fair hair and it is the honey in the formula that nourishes it, giving it a bright look and silky feel.  Whether I leave it to dry naturally or blow dry it, I get the same brilliant results every time.

My hair is very oily at the roots and dry and frizzy through the ends.  This is the best shampoo and conditioner that I have found for effectively cleansing my scalp and bringing out the highlights in my hair without drying out the ends while intensely nourishing my hair at the same time without making it become oilier at the roots.

The other haircare product that I have been trying out from milk_shake is the Whipped Cream Leave-in Foam which is deep conditioning treatment that is suitable for all hair types.

It is clear to see why this is a best seller.  You dispense the product as you would do a hair mousse but you do need to be careful as I find that a lot of product comes out with only a small squirt!  Even in my hand, the foam feels nourishing.

It is easy to use, simply disperse between your hands and run it through your hair.  I like to focus on the mid lengths and ends but if your hair is particularly dry all over then you could apply it closer to the roots too.  It is formulated with milk proteins that deeply nourish and protect the hair by conditioning it, restructuring it and adding softness without making it feel weighed down and heavy.  I love that it makes my hair incredibly easy to manage as it has a detangling effect which ensures that I can comb through it with ease when its wet and run my hands though my touchably soft locks when it is dry.

Like with the shampoo and conditioner, although this foam is very nourishing, it doesn't make my hair greasy or more oily than usual.  I like that it also contains Integrity 41 which is a patented ingredient, exclusive to milk_shake, that consists of boosted antioxidant and Vitamin E rich sunflower extract.  This ingredient helps to maintain hair colour by protecting it and ensuring that it stays vibrant and shiny for longer.

The Whipped Cream Leave-in Foam works well regardless of whether you use it alongside the milk_shake shampoo and conditioner but together, they work fabulously well.  Plus it smells strongly of toffee which is so delicious!

The other two products that I have been trying out are from the milk_shake bodycare line which has a delicious range of fragrances including tropical, coconut, lemon, honey, chamomile and floral scents.  There is a shower gel and a body cream available in each fragrance which is great for me as I love to layer up my fragrance so that it lasts longer.  The scent is brought about through organic fruit extracts so they provide a really authentic, natural scent rather than something artificial and plastic smelling like the scent that some shower gels and body creams can have!

All of the products in the bodycare line are formulated with milk and yoghurt proteins alongside active ingredients, like honey.  They're all paraben and silicone free making them gentle for your skin.

I have the Tropical Dream fragrance which smells deliciously fruity, just like passionfruit but not in an artificial way.  The shower gel is great at cleansing the body without stripping it and leaving the skin feeling dry and tight which I love because I hate products that make my skin feel dry.  I have quite dry skin on my body, plus I have a touch of psoriasis so I try to avoid drying products at all costs.

The body cream has a stronger scent than the shower gel and it lingers on the skin after use whereas I don't find that the fragrance of the shower gel does.  It is easy to rub into the skin, dries pretty quickly and leaves the skin not only smelling great but feeling great too; super soft and silky.

I have to say that although the bodycare products are really lovely, the haircare products that I have tried are by far the stand out products from milk_shake and I would HIGHLY recommend them.  I will most definitely be purchasing some more from the range in the future!

milk_shake products are only available from their online store here and from selected salons nationwide.
