The leaves changing colour and falling from the trees, being able to layer up my clothing and get out my favourite coat and joining my friends at our local firework and bonfire celebrations are just a few of the things that I love about this season.
Another is the way that I change up my home so that it feels more cosy and homely. The darker nights encourage me to stay indoors more and I tend to be in the house, snuggled up in my PJs a lot earlier in the evening than when the sun is still shining after supper.
In todays post, I'm going to share with you three ways that I like to update my home for the autumn season.

The great thing about candles is that they're not only good for subtle, cosy lighting but they smell lovely too which is why I like to have them all over my home, although not all lit at the same time... I'm actually really scared of fire and take the warning 'never leave a candle unattended' a little bit too literally at times. Scent triggers memories for a lot of people so updating your home with autumn fragranced candles is a quick way to make it feel (and smell) more autumnal. The scent of Yankee Candle Fireside Treats is definitely one of my favourites at this time of the year and going into the winter, I'm really starting to love the cinnamon scents that are around.

We use them all year round as I love the comfort of having something wrapped around me but to update yours for the autumn, simply opt for rich colours like oranges and reds in homely patterns like tartan and plaid.
3. Seasonal Decorations

Anything goes that takes your fancy really but I'd keep autumnal colours and textures in mind. Personally, I like to see a dining table display as I think that it adds that homely touch that really welcomes people when they enter the room. If you opt for something simple then it could be something that you have on your table all of the time as it will be easy to clean and move around.
So those are my three ways to update your home for autumn, I'd love to hear yours!
