If there's one thing I hate its wind. Trapped wind, gail force wind, aside from a mild breeze on holiday when I'm boiling on a beach, I hate the lot. So I'm sure you can imagine my annoyance when the only day that I had available to take photos of my Christmas party outfit, it was blowing a hooley.
That's just another thing to add to a long list of problems that a blogger faces when trying to take photos in winter. When it comes to outfit shots, I'm very much an of the moment blogger. I take them as I'm heading out of the door. However in the winter, it would be pitch black and you'd be unable to see anything without a strong flash.
This means that any evening outfits, need to be taken earlier in the day so as to be able to capture the outfit in natural lighting. However if the weather fails you then you end up with a result like this:
All I can say is that its a good job that I had some of my favourite Simply Be leggings on underneath otherwise my neighbours may have been able to see the next days washing.
My dress is this pink swing prom dress (available at 50% off right now!) which I love the shape of. The bright pink colour is a great option for girlie girls who want something a little different than the usual sequins and jewel tones for their Christmas party outfit.
It nips in under the bust which is covered in a gorgeous black floral lace overlay and has a ultra feminine sweetheart neckline. The skirt of the dress has this gorgeous swing shape with a great underskirt that has a structured mesh trim.
While the netting does give the dress an incredible floaty and flirty shape, it does make it kick out further. If you have a large tummy like I do or any other part of your body that tends to pull things upwards, then you may find that the dress comes up higher than you would perhaps like.
For me, I was able to combat this by wearing leggings and sizing up in the dress. Not everyone will have this problem but I do find that these kinds of dresses, while pretty, just aren't made long enough for me to wear comfortably without leggings (or tights which I hate the feeling of!) for fear of showing my cheeks to the world and I know many of you feel the same so keep that in mind when ordering and picking your size.
For accessories, I kept it simple with my Lulu Guinness lips clutch and some black platform heels (VERY similar on sale here).
So there we have it, a complete and utter outfit photo taking fail but a pretty plus size Christmas party dress nonetheless.
Normal blog photo taking will resume when the wind dies down!
