Have you ever considered a wedding in Cape Town?

Some couples are quite content to tie the knot in their local area, however others like to push the boundaries and take their nuptials to foreign shores. One such place which serves as the ultimate marriage paradise is Cape Town, South Africa. Very few places in the world offer the amount of variety for couples taking the plunge, as an abundance of different settings offers the perfect mix of romance and beauty. There literally isn’t a style of wedding you cannot have in the peninsula city, and with the lovely warm weather and royal blue skies any vows will assist in making your day the wedding only dreams are made of.

Being a city surrounded by beaches there is always the option of a white sand, turquoise water wedding. Beaches such as Llunduno and Camps Bay have the quintessential setting for such a wedding, and have the added bonus of a mountain backdrop on the opposite side to the water. The beaches also have many classy, catering efficient restaurants either a stone’s throw away or in close walking distance to act as the reception area. One such venue that comes to mind is Suikerbossie Restaurant and Function Venue, a beautiful establishment located on the back slope of Table Mountain and overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Another beach that has a dream setting is Hout Bay. With the mountainous surroundings and breathe taking bay, it is also accommodated by a host of classy restaurants right on the beach road. The Mediterranean climate plays perfectly into your hands if you’re looking to walk down the aisle on one of Cape Town’s blue flag beaches.

Perhaps the most popular venues in the area lie just outside the city in the Cape Winelands. Along with the beauty of a vineyard setting all the wine farms are set up for weddings, and supply all the catering and staff to make your wedding the most hassle free it can be. The wine you serve at the wedding will also come at a favourable discount due to using the services of the wine farm. Some farms have small chapels on the grounds, or service areas where the ceremony can take place. Another reason for wine farms being so popular is the photography of the bride and groom. The colours of the vines and mountainous backgrounds will make the wedding look like a scene out of a French movie. Because everything comes in one location, and the vast amount of wines farms means competition for business is strong, the prices are quite affordable in the Winelands. Accommodation for the bride and groom can also be found on many farms to save the couple having to drive a fair distance to their lodgings for the night. Nothing quite matches the romance that this area can elicit.

Being a city there are also plenty of urban themed wedding venues for couples to choose from. Rooftop venues have started spouting up and a swift rate in the city centre, and if you have ever visited Cape Town you’ll know how exquisite the panoramic views are from a high vantage point. In a 360 degree view you have the fabulous sight of Table Mountain in all its splendour, its flanking mountains of Devil’s Peak and Lions Head, as well as Table Bay and the flatlands that stretch out to the Winlands. Of course this is all under the bluest African skies you can image. It is more of a cosmopolitan city than an industrial one which means it is mostly smog free, and therefore the view will not be ruined by haze.

Many people like to use some of the activities in the city as a base for their location. Some couples opt for the V&A Waterfront with its boat tours around the harbour for the service and reception, as well as its selection of grand hotels and restaurants. GrandWest Casino also acts as a fine venue for couples wanting to try an African attempt at a Vegas wedding. All the necessities are there with restaurants, a ceremony area, a hotel and entertainment for guests wanting to let loose. Online gaming sites such as AGamingClub.co.uk aren’t popular in South Africa, so the amount of people frequenting GrandWest really gives it a festive atmosphere. For couples wanting to get real proof of an ‘African’ wedding there is also a cheetah sanctuary where weddings are conducted. The staff arrange for the majestic cats to be in the photos prior to or after the ceremony which makes for an unbelievable album to take through the years.

Forest venues can also be found in Cape Town, as the slopes of Table Mountain have many forested areas. These venues can make your special day seem like a scene out of Twilight, as the clearings are set up for unbelievably pretty ceremonies. Many properties with forests also cater for the receptions and ensure that the party keeps with the forest theme. Nature is very prominent in Cape Town, and therefore there are various ways of incorporating it into your wedding. Some people even opt to have their service atop Table Mountain.

With its mountains, seas, beautiful landscape and elegance, Cape Town really is the ideal city to say ‘I Do’. There is a little something for everyone, and at the affordable prices the South African currency offers it is available to every couple visiting the beautiful Mother City to get hitched in style.
