Get a Flawless False Tan with Xen-Tan and bodyblender

Xen Tan Moroccan Tan, Xen Tan Face Tanner Luxe and bodyblender review for a flawless tan

I've been home from Mauritius for a month and a half now and while my tan is still hanging around, thanks to this wonder product, it isn't as dark as I would like it to be.  Over the last week, I've had some events to go to for work as well as a couple of social occasions that I've wanted to look bronzed for and so I've turned to the bottle to get a flawless false tan.

Whenever I want to get a flawless false tan, I always turn to my favourite, fail safe brands, once of which is Xen-Tan.  I've been using their products for years and years and they've never disappointed me.

The one that I have used most recently is the Xen-Tan Moroccan Tan which I first tried when it was launched a few years ago.  Its a lightweight lotion that actually has premium Argan Oil within the formula which enables you to get a deep tan without it drying out your skin.  Some false tans can be quite drying while they develop whereas this one doesn't show any signs of tight, flaky dry skin at all and I do think that that must be down to the Argan Oil in the lotion.

What I love the most about this tan, is the coconut scent.  It reminds me of the tropical scent that sun lotion often has and while the typical false tan scent does start to creep in slightly after you've been wearing the guide colour for over 8 hours, it stays away for the vast majority of the time that I have it on my skin.

While I've used this tan in the past, this time, I applied it using a method that I haven't tried out before and thats with the bodyblender.  I'm sure you'll have all heard or the beautyblender by now, well as the name would suggest, the bodyblender is a new version, suitable for larger areas of the body.  Its ideal for applying body cosmetics and bronzers, which is great if you're a makeup artist working on a shoot for example.  However as I discovered last week, its also great for applying false tan to the body too.

To apply the Xen-Tan Moroccan Tan, I exfoliated my whole body and moisturised for a few days before application as I always do.  Then, when it came to applying the tan, I popped on some latex gloves and used the bodyblender's wet, squeeze, bounce method.  I simply soaked the bodyblender under water, where I saw it double in size and could feel it becoming softer and more pliable.  Then I squeezed out the excess water, before using a bouncing motion to apply the tan to my whole body.

The bodyblender is ergonomically designed so that its contours allow it to sit perfectly in your hand, making it easy to hold and apply the tan with great control.  I must admit that the bouncing action was a little strange to get used to at first as I'm more rehearsed in using a tanning mitt to apply my tan, but I quickly got used to it.  The bodyblender is actually quite large once it has been soaked in the water so while it does take a little longer to use that a tanning mitt, it doesn't take much longer, plus the results are well worth it!

The Xen-Tan Moroccan Tan has quite a dark guide colour which certainly helps during application but with the bodyblender too, I found that my tan applied flawlessly.  The combination of a fantastic tanning product together with a great way to apply it, ensured that my tan looked streak free and even, even before washing it off so when I needed to pop out to the post office during the day, I didn't feel silly at all.  I just looked VERY tanned.

Xen Tan Moroccan Tan, Xen Tan Face Tanner Luxe and bodyblender review for a flawless tan

The Moroccan Tan is a medium strength tanner, or so the packaging says.  I would say that it is definitely more of a dark tan as it is far darker than any other medium tan that I have tried before.  With that in mind, I would say that it is ideally suited to those looking to have a deep, dark tan, perhaps for an evening out.  If you're someone who prefers a lighter, more natural tan then I'd perhaps suggest trying one of Xen-Tans other products.  The colour that the Moroccan Tan gives is still very natural but it is a dark colour rather than a sun-kissed two weeks in Barbados colour.

The great thing about the Xen-Tan Moroccan Tan is that it dries really quickly so you're not having to stand around in awkward positions waiting for it to dry.

While it can be used over the whole body, I do like to use a separate face tanner, where possible as I tend to find that these are better for the skin on the face.  Especially mine as my pores get clogged up so easily!

The Xen-Tan Face Tanner Luxe is the best face tanner I've tried over the years.  It is suitable for all skin types and like the Moroccan Tan, it is paraben free.    The formula contains a balance of the active tanning ingredient DHA, as well we moisturising Vitamin E, Ginkgo Biloba, Shea Butter and anti-oxidants, all of which come together to create a smooth texture that feels gentle and hydrating on the skin.

Xen Tan Moroccan Tan, Xen Tan Face Tanner Luxe and bodyblender review for a flawless tan

I would usually apply it with a tanning mitt but again, I gave the bodyblender a go and it worked wonders.  The Face Tanner Luxe applied smoothly and effortlessly onto my skin and didn't sink into any fine lines or around my nose.  It doesn't dry out my skin and it leaves an even, streak free finish.  What I love the most about this tan is that it blends effortlessly with the false tan that I wear on my body; I've tried it with lots of different ones and it really is seamless.  I just blend it down my neck and sort of mix the two together and I'm good to go!

I buy my Xen-Tan products here and you can purchase the bodyblender here.

FASHION | Adia Wrap from Navabi

Adia Wrap from Navabi

There is one thing that I like about the cold weather, yes only one, and that's being able to wrap up in my more snuggly clothes.  If truth be known, I'd much rather be in the sunshine or enjoying a mild weather day but if I'm going to have to put up with the bitter cold then I like to wrap up warm in my snuggly but gorgeous clothes.

One such piece is my Adia wrap that I got from Navabi who are an online plus size fashion retailer that are pretty new to me.  They've made a big impression on me.  You might remember this post and this more recent one where I share with you the MAT leather look jacket that instantly became my favourite piece of 2016.

Adia Wrap from Navabi

This cape combines black with grey and an off white colour, making it a neutral piece that you can wear dressed down during the day with a grey jumper and black jeggings like I have here or you can wear it at night over a black dress.

I love the faux fur collar as not only does it look great but it keeps my neck warm too which I definitely need when its so cold outside like it is now!

TRAVEL | Summer Swimwear Inspiration & Wish List

Ambre Beach Resort Mauritius

While I don't want to speak too soon, for fear of jinxing anything, I think Spring may be on its way.  For the last two days, I've woken up with the sunshine and I've genuinely felt more of a spring in my step; the daylight always makes me feel more productive.

That glimmer of sunshine has got me all excited for the warmer months and the prospect of a summer holiday.  I'm sure you all know by now just how much I love to travel.

I live for my holidays; they're what I work for.  Seeing the world is so important to me, experiencing new cultures and completely relaxing away from my hectic home life.

If truth be known, I like to look and feel my best when I travel as I find that I have more time available to me to get ready.  I love buying my holiday clothes and putting together my outfits before I go, almost as much as I love going on holiday itself, and I'm always scouring the internet looking for pieces to inspire me and my outfit choices.  Sometimes its a particular shape, colour or a style and then I find something to fit and suit me.

Mauritius Holiday

As you'll know if you follow me on Twitter, I like to go on holiday throughout the year so a store that stocks holiday swimwear and accessories all year round is a godsend to me.  One such store is House of Fraser and I find that I can always find beautiful pieces in there that I can buy or draw inspiration from.

Their new spring/summer beach and swimwear is absolutely to die for.  They have so many different cuts, colour combinations and styles available; something to suit everyones taste.

I'm always drawn to coral, orange and pink colours, especially for summer holiday wear as they're my favourite summer colours.  This Seafolly swimsuit is a really great example of how orange can look incredible with a bit of a tan and the colour really does POP!  Plus the shape, bow and ruching on this swimsuit is nothing short of incredible!

I absolutely adore the Freya Bondi UW Bandeau Longline Bikini Top.  I love everything about it from the incredible colour palette to the longline shape.  This is something that I'd actually wear out at night with a sheerer top over the top and some high waisted, wide legged, light weight trousers.

If you're a girl who likes to pack super light when you travel and combine day/swimwear with evening wear then House of Fraser have a plenty of options for you.  The Jewels & Grace Lumo Top would look absolutely amazing on the beach but you could also wear it out at night with a pencil skirt or some high waisted denim shorts, if you love the crop top look.  Similarly, the Seafolly H20 Maxi Coverup would be ideal over any swimwear during the day but you could easily wear it out at night with some jewelled flats and a clutch bag.

I really love flirty styles and the Freya Pier bikini top and latino bottoms tick all the right boxes.  The black with the white polka dots is a total classic and the frill detailing is so sweet and a great option if you're not too confident with the tops of your legs as they're not skimpy like some styles I've seen.

For me, swimwear is all about picking styles that make you feel the most comfortable and confident and if that means concealing or flattering something and enhancing something else then I'm all for that.  Whatever makes you happy!

House of Fraser stock plenty of accessories for the beach too.  I particularly like the Seafolly Indian Summer Beach Tote as so much of my existing beachwear is coral so this beautiful bag would fit in perfectly.

I love being all matchy matchy as it looks really put together.  Its so easy to do and requires very minimal effort if you want to achieve this type of look.

I always say, simply purchase your swimwear in complimentry colours (for example red swimming costume, navy tankini and a white bikini) then buy accessories in those colours (e.g. red beach bag, white floppy hat, navy flip flops).  That way, you'll always look like you're matching and put together when really, you were buying your swimwear and accessories anyway, you just chose carefully to pick out ones that suited one another rather than buying the first things you saw.

FASHION | The Best Plus Size Leggings... EVER!

Plus size fashion street style blogger the best plus size leggings

The last couple of weeks have been a bit of a whirlwind.  I've been spending my time in London for events, meetings and catching up with friends.  Its been tiring, motivating and inspiring in equal measures, not to mention fun!

While in the capital, I was able to hang out with my friend Hanna from HannaWears blog.  I met her yonks ago at an event but didn't get to know her properly until I started working with Scarlett and Jo as a Brand Ambassador.  She works for them as well as writing her blog and personal styling.

Plus size fashion street style blogger the best plus size leggings

Every so often you meet someone who really brings out the best in you and that's definitely Hanna.  She's become a friend who really helps me to feel confident and she pushes me to step outside of my comfort zone.  When she asked if I'd like to spend the day at hers taking some street style photos and changing up my style, I was all for it!

I'd actually put together a look specifically for taking down to London with me that was different to anything else I'd worn in my wardrobe before and that's the first look from the day that I want to share with you all.

It centres around the best leggings I've ever worn; the ASOS Curve Legging in PU and Ponte.

Plus size fashion street style blogger the best plus size leggings

They're made of a ponte material thats soft to the touch and stretchy yet these leggings have this sucky in effect that really holds you in place.  They have a wide, stretchy waistband which makes them really comfortable and easy to wear.  I bought these in a size 24 and they fit perfectly, very true to size.  I love how great these make me feel when I'm wearing them, very put together and confident.  The PU, leather look panelling on the front is a totally different look for me.  I feel as though its really stylish and a bit more of a grown up to what I usually wear.

Girls, you need to try these!  They're such high quality and they feel like great fitting trousers (which I can NEVER find because to fit my tummy, they're usually HUGE on my legs).  I love them that much that I've literally just placed an order for my second pair as I've already worn them so much since I got them and want to have another pair in my size ready incase these ones wear out or are in the wash when I want to wear them.

Plus size fashion street style blogger the best plus size leggings

I paired these leggings with a plus size black cami and this black swing t shirt from River Island.  You might have spotted it in my winter fashion haul on youtube as I've had it for a good couple of months now.  I love slogan tops that have statements on them that I really believe in.  This one reads 'Do What You Love' on the side and this is something that I really like to live by.  You only get one life and you really should live it doing what you love.

Plus size fashion street style blogger the best plus size leggings

This top is from the standard section in River Island, I believe its a size 18 and I usually take a 22-24 so if you spot something that you like from their range but you're plus sized and worried it might not fit, give it a go anyway as it may well do.  I have heard on the grapevine that River Island have created a very good plus size line which is due to drop at the beginning of March on their website so keep a check here for more details.

My earrings are also from River Island, they're still available here and are really friendly on your purse!

To coincide with the rose gold lettering on the top, I wore one of my favourite necklaces in my collection, the Pandora rose gold anchor chain and feather necklace.  My shoes are my staple Michael Kors flats which are the most comfortable shoes that I own.  I've worn these none stop for over a year now and they're going to need replacing soon.  While I don't want to have to part with the cash, I certainly will do as they're THAT comfy!

Lastly, the jacket that I paired with this outfit is my Mat Leather Look Waterfall Jacket from Navabi which you may recall seeing in this post.  I've worn it none stop since I got it and can definitely say that it was my best fashion piece of 2015.  I love the leather look material and think that it compliments the PU of the ponte leggings so well.

Plus size fashion street style blogger the best plus size leggings

I absolutely love this look.  Its definitely different for me but it felt great to pick out this outfit and style myself a little differently for my trip to London.  I've really noticed a change in my personal style since the summer and I'm feeling more confident with it by the day!

Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb Review

If you're in the market for a beautifully feminine fragrance, then might I suggest the Viktor and Rolf Flowerbomb perfume.

I'm sure this is a scent you will have heard a lot abut and no doubt smelt before now because its so many peoples favourites.  Its easy to smell why.

Flowerbomb is a really distinctive scent that combines contrasting fragrance notes to create a perfume thats really unique.  It has top notes of Mandarin, Bergamot, Pink Pepper and Saffron, heart notes of roses, jasmine and olives and base notes of amber, vanilla, patchouli and oud which gives it depth and warmth.

This is a perfume that smells incredible from when you first spritz it and throughout its wear.  It lasts for a long time on the skin without needing to top it up which I love as I hate to have to take a big bottle of perfume out with me.  When I was in America, I did buy this roller ball version of Flowerbomb to keep with me in my handbag which I do take out and about, mostly for nights out, but usually I just spritz my perfume on at home and a little on my scarf and I find that it hangs around all day.

I love the Flowerbomb bottle equally as much as I love the scent of the perfume itself.  I would never have thought that you could make a bomb shape look remotely pretty or girlie but Viktor and Rolf achieve this effortlessly.  The soft pink colour is beautiful and I love that they also bring out limited edition versions of the fragrance with slight variations and change up the look of the bottle.  These are particularly special if you're buying Flowerbomb as a gift for someone.

Look out for their gift sets too as you receive complimentry products that help you to layer the scent to make it last even longer and the packaging is absolutely beautiful too.

Flowerbomb is available in a 30ml, 50ml (this is the size that I bought) and 100ml sized bottle.  You can purchase your own here.

Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Matte in 45 L'Adoree Review

Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Matte in 45 L'Adoree Review

Have you ever bought a lipstick, got it home and thought, 'what was I thinking?!'

Well that's exactly the way I felt about the Chanel Rouge Allure Matte Velvet lipstick in 45 L'Adoree.

Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Matte in 45 L'Adoree Review

To be fair, it was entirely my own fault.  I happened upon the counter and asked for a deep berry lip that would stay in place and I wouldn't have to worry about it migrating across my face throughout the day.

Essentially, thats what I got.

The Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Matte lipsticks are long wearing and apply beautifully without dragging the lips a lot.  When I apply L'Adoree, it hangs around on my lips looking pretty flawless for hours and it doesn't bleed or transfer easily which I love.  It is definitely a lipstick that I' would be confident wearing out, especially for drinks, because it doesn't move around easily.

However herein the problem lies; I don't wear it out.

Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Matte in 45 L'Adoree Review

Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Matte in 45 L'Adoree Review

I've tried wearing this lipstick with a few different makeup, hair and clothing looks but have resigned myself to the face that L'Adoree just doesn't suit me.

In the bullet, this lipstick is the most beautiful semi matte, mauve shade with plenty of blue and grey undertones.  On me, it doesn't look the way that it does in the bullet or in the swatch, it shows up looking far too grey toned, a little gothic but more verging on dead.  It's such a shame as when I bought it, I was hoping that it would be the shade that I had been looking for for so long but unfortunately not.

Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Matte in 45 L'Adoree Review

The saving grace for this lipstick is that the formula is fantastic and the packaging, as you would expect from Chanel, is stunning.  It comes in the black casing with the click up gold lipstick bullet holder.  So beautiful!

At £26, this certainly wasn't a cheap lipstick and I'm gutted that the colour doesn't suit me.  If you know of any websites or groups where I could sell on this gently used makeup item, then do let me know.  Its all sanitised and ready to go to a new home where someone could love it more than I do!

What are your favourite lipstick colours?  Can you recommend somewhere to sell on gently used makeup?

What to Buy a Woman For Her Birthday or Anniversary

Birthday Gifts Anniversary Gifts For Women

Last week, I sat down ready to write my annual Valentines Day Gift Guide post when something held me back.

I've been writing those kinds of seasonal posts for years and years but it dawned on me that I never write for occasions that we don't all celebrate at the same time, such as Birthdays and Anniversaries.  Its always Christmas or Valentines that I write about, when the shelves are stocked full of gift ideas already.  With that in mind, I have decided to put together a gift guide of things to buy a woman for her birthday, anniversary or any other special occasion.

Many of these things could be bought as gifts for a friend or female relative but they're ideally suited to those buying for their girlfriend or wife.

My first suggestion would be lingerie.  If you're buying something for you wife and know her size (Hint: don't guess.  Check in her underwear drawer) then lingerie is a fabulous option because its something that you really need to take care in picking out for her and she'll know that.

Choose a style that is similar to pieces she already owns but perhaps in a different colour that you know she'll love and always choose a matching set.  Don't go too daring.  If the woman you're buying for is quite conservative, don't risk her feeling awkward in something too daring or risqué.

This set here is the Misty style by Sculptress who are a D+ specialist and plus size brand that is new to the Panache Lingerie umbrella.  The Misty set features a full cup bra that's designed to enhance the wearers shape as well as offering great support and being comfortable to wear, and a coordinating full brief.  The brief is a bit of a change for me as I usually prefer more of a thong style but its really comfortable to wear and the gorgeous design still feels flirty and pretty.

The design of the Misty is so beautifully feminine and unlike anything else in my collection.  The broderie anglaise lace detailing looks gorgeous against the light wash denim print and I love the flirty pink bow on the centre of the bra and briefs.

This is a great daytime set and makes me feel feminine, confident and put together.  As I'm getting older, I'm starting to appreciate the difference that good underwear makes and how I feel when I wear it.  I think a lot of women feel the same way and many hit a certain point in their life when they choose to invest in quality pieces that will look great and last.  Sculptress and Panache are definitely the go to brands for achieving that.

For stockist information, see here.

Burberry Cashmere Check and Hearts Scarf with Monogram

If buying clothes or under garments frightens you because of sizing but you'd still like to get the lady in your life something to wear, then a great option is a scarf.

My favourite designer for scarves has to be Burberry.  Their quintessentially British designs are made from the finest cashmere and you can have them monogrammed with up to 3 letters of your choosing (currently offered complimentry!).  I received the Burberry Check and Hearts Scarf for Christmas just gone and have worn it countless times since.  This style goes with practically everything and is ageless which makes it a great option for a gift because everyone can enjoy wearing it.

Tom Ford Lips and Boys coral shade lipstick House of Fraser

If you don't want to spend too much money, but still would like to purchase a luxury gift, then a great option would be something from Tom Ford Beauty.  The Lips and Boys collection in particular is a fantastic choice if you're a man buying the gift as each lipstick's shade name is a boys name so you may just strike lucky and find a lipstick with your name on it in a gorgeous colour.  If not, opt for one of their regular sized lipsticks in a colour that you think she'd love as its pointless buying a shade that wont suit her just because it has your first name on it!

YSL Black Opium Perfume Fragrance Direct

Lastly, I wholeheartedly believe that you cannot go wrong with a bottle of her favourite perfume for her birthday or an anniversary.  Every woman I know loves her fragrances so whether she's loyal to her signature scent or likes to try out different perfumes from time to time, a perfume gift is bound to be a hit.  However there are so many out there to choose from so do go back and revisit my tips from this post to help you to pick out the best fragrance for her.

My favourite place to shop for fragrances online has to be Fragrance Direct.  They have the best selection around with all of the complimentry products, different sized bottles and gift sets in one place so their website really does take the hassle out of shopping.  I have written more about the online shopping experience at Fragrance Direct in this post.

The perfume that I have been wearing most recently from them is the YSL Black Opium which is still a relatively new fragrance.  It was sprayed on me while I was having my makeup done at a counter last year (check out the post here) and ever since, I have been coveting it.

Black Opium is a stunning fragrance with a deep and mysterious air to it.  I find that it is distinctive and unusual and since it is still quite new, not everyone has smelled it before so it does attract compliments and people asking what perfume it is!  I love my sexy fragrances for both day and night wear but this really is one that is suitable for both times of day because it still has a lightness to it so it isn't too heavy for the daytime.  This scent has top notes of coffee, accords of pink pepper, a heart of vanilla which gives it a little warmth, jasmine and orange blossom and base notes of cedar and patchouli.

You can shop the YSL Black Opium line at Fragrance Direct here and the rest of their stunning perfumes for women here.

No matter what gift you buy for her for her birthday or anniversary this year, I'd suggest a well worded card and pretty gift wrapping as both go a long way to putting a smile on her face, mine anyway!

GIVEAWAY | Valentines Day Outfit with Scarlett and Jo

Scarlett and Jo Floral 2 in 1 Dress Valentines Day Plus Size Outfit Inspiration

If there's one night of the year that I want to dress up in a cute outfit and really make an effort, its Valentines Day.

I know so many people think that its just an excuse for the card shops to make money but I'm a bit of an old romantic at heart and quite honestly, I love any excuse to dress up for a date night.

I really enjoy the getting ready process; taking my time doing my hair and makeup and pulling on a beautiful dress like this one while listening to my latest iTunes playlist.  It makes me feel great and gives me an inner confidence that shines out of me.

When it came to choosing my outfit for this Valentines Day, there was one dress that immediately sprang to mind from one of my faves, Scarlett and Jo and today, I wanted to share a sneak peek with you of what I'll be wearing on date night this year.  Perhaps it'll give you some outfit inspiration.

Now taking the photos for this post wasn't easy.

Let me set the scene for you.

I had a vision.

An idea of creating a Valentines Day inspired outfit post, complete with cute heart shaped balloons and the most beautiful dress fit for the perfect date night.

I got the dress down to a T, hair and makeup on point and the balloons were filled and ready to go.

What I didn't bank on was the weather changing from a mild February day, to blowin' a hooley as we say up here in the North East.  What a carry on!

This was the best result:

Needless to say, heels, balloons and gail force winds don't mix so i'll not be doing that again.  However the saving grace was that I really put the Scarlett and Jo Floral 2 in 1 Dress through its paces.

I've worn this dress on one other occasion which was New Years Eve.  I'm not sure if it had even gone on sale at that point but the amount of compliments that I received when wearing it had me grinning from ear to ear.  Its just one of those dresses that looks so pretty and the floral design on the skirt is stunning.

I love the colour palette as it is very grown up girlie.  The dress really speaks for itself so I decided to pair simple black accessories with it; my most comfortable black peeptoe heels (similar on sale here) and my Lulu Guinness Lips Clutch.

It has a black jersey top that fits like a dream, with 3/4 length sleeves and a beautiful sweetheart neckline, a black elasticated waistband and a floral skirt attached.

The great thing about this dress is that, like their others, Scarlett and Jo have really thought about the fit and how the dress should move with the body when they designed it.  Theres more than enough material there so that if you're a bigger girl like I am, when you sit down, it doesn't ride up and leaving you battling to keep it from showing too much thigh at the dinner table, tomorrows washing or your bottom when standing up.

The skirt is lined and has a net fitted to it which not only adds flattering volume to the skirt but I also found it helped to keep the dress from blowing up too much in the wind.  The last thing you want on Valentines Day is for a gust of wind to come along and reveal everything to world and after wearing this dress on this particularly windy day, I'm confident that while it'll blow and move it the wind, you're not going to have any embarrassing mishaps!

What I love the most about this dress however, is the way that it makes me feel.  Like every other piece that I've worn from Scarlett and Jo, it makes me feel feminine and confident and I can't help but smile when I'm wearing it.  That's the difference with #curvyfashion from Scarlett and Jo and the reason why I want to give one of you the chance to win the item of your choice from there.

All you have to do to enter the giveaway is to:

You can visit the Scarlett and Jo website here.  Their clothing sizes range from a 14 to 32 and are a fantastic fit for so many women.  If the sizing isn't for you, you could still enter the giveaway to win the gift for a friend or loved one; what a lovely treat!

More ways to enter are in the Rafflecopter form below.

Giveaway ends at 12:00AM on 24.02.2016.  Winner will be notified on this post and via one of the contact methods left on the Rafflecopter form.

3 Fun Fashion Party Ideas

One of my favourite things about writing this blog is coming up with different ideas for what to wear for different occasions.

Whilst my recent post about outfits for a long haulflight was more focused on issues of comfort, this post will be based on some fun ideas for fashion parties that takes inspiration from the glamour of roulette tables, to the latest S/S styles.

Getting glam for spring

Seeing as we’re still in the dark months of winter, planning a fashion party offers the perfect antidote to beat the winter blues. Some of the outlandish creations at the recent Paris Fashion Week should provide a good amount of inspiration for your outfit, as a fashion party is all about wearing some seriously extravagant looks!

My favourite has to be the sequinned gowns that were worn at the Sonia Rykiel store. These would look particularly great if you decided to add a casino twist to the evening, with Betway offering an easy to use mobile gaming interface so that you can learn from playing online roulette whilst glamming it up to the max in the comfort of your own home.

Wild styles

The great thing about fashion parties is that they can really allow you to entertain your wildest fashion dreams. After all, part of the appeal about long-awaited movies such as Zoolander 2 is that they can show how fashion is really just an excuse to play dress up.

A bit of research shows that as long as you really go for it with your look, you can’t really lose. Even Stella McCartney’s fashion party featured a wide range of styles from sleek black dresses to Katy Perry’s floral dress and turban combo - unfortunately most of us will have to make do without Johnny Depp making a surprise appearance!

Iconic inspiration

Being a bit of fashion fan, I always find it’s a good idea to check the style blogs for a big of inspiration. And Kate Moss always seems to provide some great ideas of looks for every occasion. I particularly like her take on vintage chic, and she manages to prove the golden rule that says to wear black at pretty much every opportunity!

So whether you’re taking inspiration from the roulette tables, or even just the online adventures of the latest supermodel, there’s no end to the fun that you can have at your next fashion party!

Whether you're planning on treating yourself or someone special in your life to a gorgeous piece of jewellery, taking a moment to go through shopping tips before making the big purchase could help you save big on high quality pieces! Even though jewellery made with precious metals such as gold or silver and stones tends to be on the pricey side, there are several ways that you can be sure you're getting the absolute best price on your purchase, whether it's a stunning engagement ring or an elegant necklace.

You all know how much I love my jewellery; it was only a couple of months ago that I was gushing over my beautiful diamond ring in this post and my Lucky Eyes London bracelet has hardly been off my wrist since I got it.  I guess you could say that I'm a bit of a magpie when it comes to jewellery and if something catches my eye, I instantly get all heart eyed emoji.  However as theres usually such a high mark up on jewellery, I think its really important to get the best deal you can, especially if you're buying jewellery on a budget so in todays post, I wanted to share with you my 5 top tips for doing just that!

1. Look Out For The Discounts

When it comes to jewellery, getting the most affordable option doesn't mean compromising on the quality of your purchase.  Perhaps the most effective (and least time consuming) way to get discounts on top quality jewellery is by checking out which stores offer the possibility to save with coupons. Comparing the discounts offered at each store will help you determine where you could save the most on your shopping. It's also super easy to shop online, just go to Discountrue and look for the best offers. Sometimes it's good to check at non-jewellery stores, too, such as Neiman Marcus – sometimes you can find great pieces where you wouldn't normally expect to.

2. Choose The perfect Timing

Many jewellery stores hold regular sales, deals and promotions throughout the year; the trick to catching the best deals is being aware of when the best times to shop are. While many stores offer promotions during the holiday months to compete with other stores, others offer competitive prices during slower months when most of their inventory is picked over and they're trying to sell as much as they can in order to make space for new items. Select your favourite stores and become acquainted with the routine they tend to follow, so you can shop at the most opportune time.

3. Buy Jewellery Online

The internet can give you way more options than going to a couple of jewellery stores in your area.  When shopping online, check out the benefits of subscribing to newsletters and/or joining a store's mailing list – many outlets offer exclusive deals to their subscribers and let them know about sales and discounts before anyone else. Be sure to check that the store has a good reputation and that you're aware of the shipping and returns policy before making any online purchases!

4. Know Your Metals

A solid gold, silver or platinum piece of jewellery will cost more than a piece that is coated in a precious metal and has a core made up of a “base metal” (zinc, copper). A gold or silver plated ring can look just as fabulous as one that is coated, at a significantly lower price. However, you should be aware that the plating can deteriorate and wear off with time.

5. Flexibility Is Key

Finally, if you're not absolutely fixated on one specific design and look, you'll probably have way more options to work with. Talk to your jeweller about the options available within a certain price range – you may be surprised at how many great pieces of jewellery may be within your budget!

Saving can be a lot easier than you may think - follow some of the above tips and you're bound to save a bundle on your next jewellery purchase!
