Get a Flawless False Tan with Xen-Tan and bodyblender

Xen Tan Moroccan Tan, Xen Tan Face Tanner Luxe and bodyblender review for a flawless tan

I've been home from Mauritius for a month and a half now and while my tan is still hanging around, thanks to this wonder product, it isn't as dark as I would like it to be.  Over the last week, I've had some events to go to for work as well as a couple of social occasions that I've wanted to look bronzed for and so I've turned to the bottle to get a flawless false tan.

Whenever I want to get a flawless false tan, I always turn to my favourite, fail safe brands, once of which is Xen-Tan.  I've been using their products for years and years and they've never disappointed me.

The one that I have used most recently is the Xen-Tan Moroccan Tan which I first tried when it was launched a few years ago.  Its a lightweight lotion that actually has premium Argan Oil within the formula which enables you to get a deep tan without it drying out your skin.  Some false tans can be quite drying while they develop whereas this one doesn't show any signs of tight, flaky dry skin at all and I do think that that must be down to the Argan Oil in the lotion.

What I love the most about this tan, is the coconut scent.  It reminds me of the tropical scent that sun lotion often has and while the typical false tan scent does start to creep in slightly after you've been wearing the guide colour for over 8 hours, it stays away for the vast majority of the time that I have it on my skin.

While I've used this tan in the past, this time, I applied it using a method that I haven't tried out before and thats with the bodyblender.  I'm sure you'll have all heard or the beautyblender by now, well as the name would suggest, the bodyblender is a new version, suitable for larger areas of the body.  Its ideal for applying body cosmetics and bronzers, which is great if you're a makeup artist working on a shoot for example.  However as I discovered last week, its also great for applying false tan to the body too.

To apply the Xen-Tan Moroccan Tan, I exfoliated my whole body and moisturised for a few days before application as I always do.  Then, when it came to applying the tan, I popped on some latex gloves and used the bodyblender's wet, squeeze, bounce method.  I simply soaked the bodyblender under water, where I saw it double in size and could feel it becoming softer and more pliable.  Then I squeezed out the excess water, before using a bouncing motion to apply the tan to my whole body.

The bodyblender is ergonomically designed so that its contours allow it to sit perfectly in your hand, making it easy to hold and apply the tan with great control.  I must admit that the bouncing action was a little strange to get used to at first as I'm more rehearsed in using a tanning mitt to apply my tan, but I quickly got used to it.  The bodyblender is actually quite large once it has been soaked in the water so while it does take a little longer to use that a tanning mitt, it doesn't take much longer, plus the results are well worth it!

The Xen-Tan Moroccan Tan has quite a dark guide colour which certainly helps during application but with the bodyblender too, I found that my tan applied flawlessly.  The combination of a fantastic tanning product together with a great way to apply it, ensured that my tan looked streak free and even, even before washing it off so when I needed to pop out to the post office during the day, I didn't feel silly at all.  I just looked VERY tanned.

The Moroccan Tan is a medium strength tanner, or so the packaging says.  I would say that it is definitely more of a dark tan as it is far darker than any other medium tan that I have tried before.  With that in mind, I would say that it is ideally suited to those looking to have a deep, dark tan, perhaps for an evening out.  If you're someone who prefers a lighter, more natural tan then I'd perhaps suggest trying one of Xen-Tans other products.  The colour that the Moroccan Tan gives is still very natural but it is a dark colour rather than a sun-kissed two weeks in Barbados colour.

The great thing about the Xen-Tan Moroccan Tan is that it dries really quickly so you're not having to stand around in awkward positions waiting for it to dry.

While it can be used over the whole body, I do like to use a separate face tanner, where possible as I tend to find that these are better for the skin on the face.  Especially mine as my pores get clogged up so easily!

The Xen-Tan Face Tanner Luxe is the best face tanner I've tried over the years.  It is suitable for all skin types and like the Moroccan Tan, it is paraben free.    The formula contains a balance of the active tanning ingredient DHA, as well we moisturising Vitamin E, Ginkgo Biloba, Shea Butter and anti-oxidants, all of which come together to create a smooth texture that feels gentle and hydrating on the skin.

I would usually apply it with a tanning mitt but again, I gave the bodyblender a go and it worked wonders.  The Face Tanner Luxe applied smoothly and effortlessly onto my skin and didn't sink into any fine lines or around my nose.  It doesn't dry out my skin and it leaves an even, streak free finish.  What I love the most about this tan is that it blends effortlessly with the false tan that I wear on my body; I've tried it with lots of different ones and it really is seamless.  I just blend it down my neck and sort of mix the two together and I'm good to go!

I buy my Xen-Tan products here and you can purchase the bodyblender here.

  6. Wow that is an amazing amount of time for your tan to have lasted and this sounds like a fantastic way to top it up when it starts to fade as well.

  7. Even though I don't need to fake tan I love the ideal of the body blender. It would be also good to use it whilst applying body shimmer. Which I normally use on my legs on a night out

  9. Oh my God, Laura. I think I'm sleep deprived! I read the title as "how to get steak free"! I thought "that's not her normal thing!" LOL.

Anyway, this sounds like a good product. Far too often my fake tan effects end up orange and streaky.

  15. Looks like a much safer option than roasting slowly in the sun. As a natural ginger with very pale skin I've never tried any tanning products though as I fear I'd turn orange!
