5 Summer Holiday Beauty Products

Summer Holiday Beauty Products Loreal Professionnel Kerastase Senspa Dirty Works Sainsburys Waitrose

If you follow me on Snapchat (WLLofficial) then you'll know that I've just got back from Icmeler in Turkey where I spent a week relaxing by the pool with one of my friends.

Whenever I travel, I always like to take high quality toiletries away with me to keep my hair and body in great condition while I'm away.  I'm not someone that will take just any ol' rubbish away with me as being able to take my time getting ready when on holiday is a luxury that I enjoy.

In todays post, I am going to share with you 5 of the summer holiday beauty products that I took away with me on my latest trip and what I think of them after using them for the week.

The first products are haircare essentials for me.

Starting with the Kerastase Bain Après Soleil which is a shampoo that you can use daily when your hair is exposed to the sun.  Of course, our hair is exposed to the sun everyday but up here in the North East of England, the sunshine isn't that strong so I don't find this shampoo to be necessary for everyday use here however when I travel and go to hot countries, it is an absolute essential for me.

This shampoo has UV filters for colour treated hair to protect, repair and beautify it when it has been in the sun.  It is designed to leave the hair feeling soft, detangled and nourished, as well as resistant and protected against sun damage.  I definitely notice how soft it makes my hair feel after I have used it, even on my hair extensions, which is very welcome when I'm away in a hot country.  After I've been in the sun all day, I really just want to get in and get my hair washed and styled with ease and this shampoo definitely aids my hair in being more manageable.

I've also found that my colour doesn't fade as fast when using this shampoo.  The sun has a habit of bleaching my hair which can ruin the time I've spent in the salon getting my hair done and it doesn't do its condition any good at all either.  I get a root stretch at my favourite hair salon, Frances Marshall in Sunderland, which is where they apply a darker colour to the roots of my hair for a natural, slightly grown out look, and then I have  a mixture of hair contouring and their #FrancesMarshall Signature Balayage through the mid lengths and ends of my hair which is a hand painted technique that gives a sun kissed effect to the hair.

Before I started going to this salon, my hair colour would often bleach right up in the sun and my hair would become very dry however since I have been having my hair done by Amelia Hall and taking her advice regarding products, my hair has coped far better with being away in hot, strong sunshine.

Everyday while I was away, I used the Kerastase shampoo that I bought in a travel size from Frances Marshall and then every other evening, I popped on some of the L'Oreal Professionnel Absolut Repair Lipidium mask through the mid lengths and ends of my hair.

This is an instant reconstructing masque for very damaged hair that works to restore the lipids in the hair that can be lost through sun exposure, heat styling, chemical treatments, salt water, etc.  I have found it to work perfectly on my hair when it has been in the sun all day long and I've been in and out of the pool.  It is a very intensive, highly moisturising and exceptionally deep conditioning mask that works in a matter of minutes.  My hair felt as though it was in incredible condition after using it and I cannot recommend it enough!  Again, it is available in a handy travel size from Frances Marshall hair salon.

Another product that I took away with me on my holidays was the Kerastase CC Créme which I bought last year on recommendation from a hair stylist at another salon.  This product is designed to be used as a leave-in treatment to protect the hair condition and colour from sun exposure.  I first tried it out last year and this year I took it away with me again to see if I could convince myself, and my hair, to like it but so far, I really don't think that its for me.  While I don't think that it does anything detrimental to my hair, I don't think that it benefits it either.  After application, it leaves my hair feeling horribly dry and crispy while it is in my hair which isn't a feeling I enjoy.  I tried applying it while I was away this time, to my hair when it was a lot more wet and I do think that it didn't set as dry in my hair so perhaps on my next trip away, I'll try it again on completely wet hair to see if it makes a difference.

Once it is used up fully, I'll not be repurchasing.  Instead, I'll be trying out the spray that is from this range.

Holidays are also a great time for me to fully test out new products too and on this trip, I took away with me a body wash and a scrub that I had just received to review.  Since I was only going away for one week, I used both of these products at home for a couple of showers before packing them as I knew my friend and I wouldn't get through each full bottle on a weeks holiday.

The shower gel is the Dirty Works Coconut Body Wash* and let me tell you; this smells like a holiday in a bottle.  It contains coconut oil, passionfruit extract and allantoin which are all known for their hydrating and moisturising properties.  It comes out as a thick gel that instantly feels soft and luxurious to the touch.

The body wash lathers well, washes away with ease and leaves a light fragrance on the skin that lasts long enough for you to inhale the scent of holidays one last time.  For only a couple of quid from Sainsbury's, I'd say that its a great option for your next shower gel whether you're at home or going away!

Another supermarket find is the Senspa Detox Body Scrub* that you can pick up with your shopping in Waitrose.  It is packed full of essential oils and scrubbing particles to buff away dead skin cells and leave your skin looking and feeling refined.  I think that this is the ideal scrub to use daily to keep your tan looking healthy and the dead skin cells at bay as it isn't too harsh on the skin but it is abrasive enough to smooth the skin and keep peeling under control.  It has a gorgeous scent that reminds me of spa days and total relaxation which is exactly the feeling that I want when I'm away on holiday.

When I'm on holiday, I exfoliate my whole body every single night and then I moisturise after I have dried off from the shower.  I'll usually use a body oil or butter; this time I used Bio Oil and found that the combination of this scrub with the oil meant that my skin was looking and feeling smooth, supple and soft throughout my whole holiday.  Plus I came home with a cracking good tan, even if I do say so myself!

So there we have it; 5 summer holiday beauty products that I took away with me on my most recent trip abroad.

  5. I love coconut so the body wash has got me tempted. I always take plenty of moisturiser when I go away and a beeswax balm because you can use it for everything from dry skin to scrapes and chapped lips.
