That'so SPF and Aftersun | Sun Protection You NEED To Try

Lets face it; we all know by now just how much I love to go on holiday to hot locations!

I love getting the sun on my back, more or less guaranteed sunny mornings and late sunny nights.

There's just something about getting away from it all that really elevates my mood and if truth be told, I feel like I completely different person when I look in the mirror and see a beautiful sun kissed glow smiling back at me.

Getting a tan is important to me but so is protecting my skin.  Skin cancer is real.  It affects more people than I care to imagine every single year and the effects can be devastating.  While we never know whats around the corner, I'm a big believer in prevention over cure.

Not only can the suns harmful UV rays cause skin cancer but it can also cause premature ageing of the skin and there's no way I want to end up with a face like leather by the time I'm 35 either.

With that in mind, I'm always on the hunt for the best SPF and aftersun products to protect and soothe my skin.

I've just got back from Icmeler in Turkey and one of the SPFs that I took away with me was from a brand that's completely new to me; That'so.

This is the That'so All In One SPF from their Pure Sun line and it is an absolutely genius product because it works as an SPF20, SPF30 or SPF50 so you can adapt it to suit the level of SPF protection that you need.  For example, if you're away in Spain and its only 20 degrees, you might want and SPF20, if you're in Greece and its 25 degrees, you might want an SPF30, etc.

Using this product is easy, simply spray onto the body direct from the aerosol can and you'll see a light layer of the protective dry oil hit your skin which gives you UVA and UVB protection in a matter of seconds.  The spray can is so easy to use and the flow of the dry oil is continuous, not matter what angle you use it from so even if you turn the can to spray the back of your thighs then the sun protection still comes out.  This makes it really easy to do your own back too as I found that the dry oil leaves a light coating that you don't need to rub in, you just have to make sure that you catch all of the areas of skin that you need to protect.

To increase the level of sun protection from SPF20 to 30 and 50, you simply wait a few seconds after the first application and apply another layer and repeat again.  It really is so simple, quick and easy to use and I love that the formula is a dry oil because it doesn't leave you feeling greasy, sticky or tacky after you've applied it.  This is great for if you're going on a day trip on holiday because you can apply it and then get dressed straight away without worrying about staining your clothes.

Personally, if I have a high factor sun product available to me then I'll always pick that one over a lower one.  Sometimes when I'm away I'll use an SPF 50 thoroughly all over and then I'll top up a couple of times with a lower factor oil (15/20/25 depending on where I am) and then I'll go back in with the SPF 50.  There's a huge misconception that if you apply a high factor SPF then you wont tan; this is completely false.  It simply gives your skin greater protection so you can stay out in the sun for longer without burning.  Reapplying regularly is always an essential regardless of what SPF you use.  For me, I'd rather stay protected and get a gorgeous golden tan than end up looking like a lobster, shuddering in pain and damaging my skin!

The great thing about this SPF is that it has MELANUP+ in the formula which helps to stimulate the melanin production in the skin to enable you to get a natural tan without exposure to UV rays.  It also has TYR-EXCEL in it which is a tanning activator.  The combination of these ingredients helps to accelerate the tan that you get without compromising on the SPF protection.

This product can be used all over the body, although its probably worthwhile noting that I didn't use it on my face as I was trying out another product which I'll come to very soon in a post!

I also took the That'so All In One After Sun away with me to apply to my skin after I had got back to the room and had a shower.

This is a very fine emulsion that again, comes in an aerosol spray can.  I kept this in the fridge which made the can even cooler.  When the product is dispensed, it feels so cooling and soothing on the skin.  It is very light weight and quick and easy to rub in.

My friend who was with me did get a little bit too pink on a couple of occasions through not applying her suncream throughly and when I sprayed this aftersun on her, we were both amazed at home much it had taken the redness out of her skin.  We'd also tried using Piz Buin but it didn't have as good an effect as this aftersun did.

Not only is this aftersun great for cooling and soothing the skin but it also helps to protect and defend the skin against free radicals, as well as repairing the skin and hydrating it.  It doesn't have as intense a moisturising effect as a body butter would but it does lightly hydrate the skin and stop it from feeling tight and dry.  Neither of us peeled while we were away so it must have had a hydrating effect on our skin!

This aftersun also contains MELANUP+ too to further stimulate melanin production.

Just like the SPF, the aerosol on the aftersun is very easy to spray but because it is a light, white emulsion, you do need someone to help you to rub it into the skin if you're not able to reach certain areas (the middle of my back is always a hard to reach place for me!) otherwise it'll sit on the surface of the skin as a light liquid.

Now I'm not one to brag but I have come back from my holidays with a pretty fabulous suntan and it wasn't even THAT hot.  I'm saying that but it was about 26-28 degrees Celsius which is by no means cool but given that I've been in Turkey when its been well into the 50s, it was warm by comparison!  Lots of you have been commenting on my social media about my freckles and little tanned face which is really sweet.

I LOVE having a tan and I'm so happy that I've found two products that have enabled me to achieve a golden glow on my body without compromising on protecting my skin.

Although That'so are a brand I haven't heard much about, I'm so impressed with my experience of these two products that I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

  14. we're a spf 50 no matter what the conditions, especially where my girls are concerned. I'm always worried with spray products that the coverage might not be very good but there seem to be more and more spare sunscreens on the market so they must work xxx

  16. Protecting your skin is definitely important. I've had several dysplastic moles on my torso removed because I did not use sunscreen when I was younger.

  19. I need them , especially when Manchester's weather is going two ways every day. I prefer a small bottle though which I can carry with myself in my handbag. Those are quite helpful.

  20. Never heard of this brand but even the packaging looks temptating so I would go for it. And I like that it's dry oil so it absorbs easily. I always choose ashigh SPF as possible, usually 50 but also so called total block is what I use when ever available.

  24. From what I've been told it's important to use spf products even when you're indoors. Things like your computer and TV can still emit harmful rays. These look fun and the colors alone would get me using them.

  25. Interesting products, haven't heard of a product that you can use at different levels of SPF...worth a try :)

  26. Although the summer season here in the Philippines is closing to an end, it`s still quite hot in the mornings and afternoons. I often just use my umbrella to shield my skin from the harmful UV Rays.
