How To Clear Spots on a Budget with Witch Skincare

How To Clear Spots on a Budget with Witch Skincare

Over the last couple of weeks, I've been suffering with something that I've never had to put up with in my whole life and that's SPOTS.  Don't get me wrong, I get the odd blemish here and there and I do have clogged pores but I've never been someone you could call spotty or say suffered with spots.  Not even when I was a teenager.

So I'm sure you can imagine how intrigued and gutted I was in equal measures to find these whopping big spots all along my jawline and on my cheeks.

I was wracking my brains trying to think of what it could be; I'd been away for a night and had a couple of glasses of prosecco, so could it be the alcohol?  I had porridge the next day, could it have been the dairy milk?  I couldn't put my finger on it and then one day it clicked; my skincare.

For months I'd been using the Merumaya Gentle Exfoliating Toner and loving the results.  However when it ran out, I picked up a bottle of the Pixi Glow Tonic to try after cleansing as I was passing the stand in a shop and had always wanted to give it a go.  This was the only change I'd made to my skincare routine, makeup, lifestyle, health and so it has to be that that's broken me out.  I started using it the week I got the spots and given that nothing else has changed and my skin is actually really resilient, there's not doubt in my mind that it is that that's caused the spots.

I tweeted Pixi, they gave me some advice on how to use differently for my skin and so far, I think its working better for me but more on that for a future post when I give it my final review as for the time being, I want to share with you three products that helped me to turn my skin around.

How To Clear Spots on a Budget with Witch Skincare

Whenever my skin is feeling too clogged or if I get the odd blemish, I always turn to Witch naturally clear skincare to help me.  I've been using Witch skincare for years and years, longer than I've been blogging, and I've bought and tried so many different products from them over the years.  The great thing about them is that they're really affordable but high performing at the same time.

I'm a big believer in investing in my skincare yet with these, I can save my pounds and get a better result than I ever have done with a higher end blemish treatment.  Like I said, I'm someone who rarely gets a spot so I'm not a seasoned pro at getting rid of them or trying to cover them which is the great thing about these products as they are straight forward and to all of the work for you.

The first product that I use is the Witch Micellar Water which comes in a 200ml bottle from Boots for £3.29; placing a big tick in the affordable box.  I like to use this as my first cleanse when my skin is feeling clogged up or if I've got a spot.  I apply a small amount of the liquid onto a cotton pad and sweep it over my face.  If its the morning, I'll use it once, if its the evening, I'll use it as my first cleanse along with my Clarins Instant Eye Makeup Remover then double up with a cream cleanser over the sink (you know the drill by now I'm sure).

It feels light weight and doesn't sting or irritate my skin at all, in fact it leaves my skin feeling smooth and helps to reduce the appearance of my pores, especially the enlarged ones on my cheeks around my nose.  Best of all, it doesn't dry my skin out or leave it feeling tight, which I must admit, I thought it would do given that it is from a spot fighting brand but no, it doesn't!

The next skincare product that I swear by is the Witch Overnight Clearing Serum.  I'll not talk too much about this product as I've raved on and on about it in many posts but you can read the dedicated review here.  In short, it dramatically reduces the appearance of the odd blemishes that I get while leaving my skin looking and feeling so hydrated its unreal.  When these spots started popping up recently, this was the first product that I turned to, to defend against them and I really think it made a big difference to my skin and how it recovered after the breakout.

For the longest time, I had actually been using this serum during the day too as I loved the hydrating effect so much.  That was until the Witch Daily 2 in 1 Primer and Clearing Serum was released earlier this year.  This is a fantastic product as it basically does the same as the overnight serum but with the added benefit of it priming the skin too. It has an oil free formula and if you apply a very light layer then it sits well under makeup too.  It smooths and soothes the skin thanks to the Witch Hazel and B Vitamins that it contains while preventing future breakouts and holding makeup in place.  What a clever little product!

If you're in need of some spot fighting products then I'd highly recommend the Witch Skincare range.  They're budget friendly and can be used daily or kept for when you need a spot fighting secret weapon!
