Getting My Daily Dose of Vitamin D in Stanhope!

When the sun is shining, theres nothing I like more than getting out in the sunshine.  My hubby and I recently jumped in the car and headed off to a little village called Stanhope in Weardale to soak up the sun and enjoy a spot of lunch.

I'm much more of a countryside girl than a beach girl so Stanhope suits me perfectly and holds so many happy memories for me.  Being out in the sunshine in general makes me so happy and I really think it is great for my mental and physical health; its a shame that we don't get as much sun as I would like here in the UK.

I read this BBC health article recently which is all about how the UK Government have recommended that people in the UK take Vitamin D supplements as they generally don't get enough Vitamin D from their diets or sun exposure.

This vitamin is important for healthy bones and muscles but I've also read more into it and found that it can affect your energy levels too.

While muscle and joint health is important to me, it is hidden to some extent but my energy levels are glaringly obvious to me.  I am someone who works very long hours, gets less sleep than they should and suffers with anxiety which is exhausting in itself but in the spring and summer months, when I wake up with the sunshine and get out and about more, I do seem to have more of a zest for life and more energy.

It definitely got me thinking that taking a Vitamin D supplement would be beneficial to me to see what positive impact it could have on my body and energy levels.

Little changes like taking my laptop outside to work when its sunny could also be good for me, rather than staying in the house working.

As well as that, getting out into the sunshine for proper breaks is definitely something that I need to do more of.  Days like this one in the Stanhope countryside are good for the soul.

Having a wardrobe full of pieces that mix and match is so handy because I can wake up with the sunshine, throw on an outfit and head out of the door with very little thought or faffing on.

The floral printed trousers that I'm wearing here are from Yours Clothing (similar linked below).  You might remember them from some of my outfit posts last year as they were certainly a good buy for me.

My top is also from Yours but it is a new piece that I picked up a few weeks ago.  I'm loving these off the shoulder styles at the moment and this one is no exception.  Light weight, comfortable and oh so cute with the little pom poms along the frill; its the perfect piece that you can just throw on with some trousers or jeans and you're good to go.

For accessories, I'm wearing my Polaroid sunnies from Sunglasses Shop (these ones are so similar to mine and are only £45!) that I reviewed in this post which are my go-to huge sunglasses all year round.  They look chic and cover up my tired eyes when I haven't had enough sleep!

My bag is the Michael Kors Saffiano Satchel in Mandarin that I featured in my Michael Kors Haul and my sandals are Michael Kors too.  I picked them up in the sale at House of Fraser last summer.  While they do look beautiful, they're so uncomfortable its not even funny!  They really hurt my feet and rub like a biatch so even if you can find some on sale, I wouldn't recommend buying them.  I've found some alternatives below that look as though they'd be far more comfortable.

To complete my outfit, I added some gorgeous jewellery pieces from StudioB.  They have the most gorgeous selection of bangles around and these are the ones that I bought most recently.  They're £5 each and look so luxe without breaking the bank.  They're also available to order via their Facebook page too!

I'm heading off to bed now as I've taken Saturday as a well deserved day off and I can't wait to get out into the sunshine once again... that's if the iPhone weather app is to be believed!

  1. I need that handbag it is gorgeous. My Daughter has recently been put on Vitamin D supplements as her levels were low, which we assumed due to her not getting enough time outside
