Tonight, I felt the first chill of autumn and I must admit, I'm really excited for changing up my wardrobe with the new season. I've spoken a lot about my change in style over the last year and I really feel as though I'm at a point in my life now where I really know who I am, what I like and what I don't and that's something that stretches far beyond my wardrobe. Perhaps I'll talk more about that in another post but lets just say, its a great feeling.
This year, I've been so excited about fashion and what I'm going to wear that I've been picking up autumnal pieces before the season even started.
Now that the cooler weather is here, I really feel as though I've been able to hit the ground running by incorporating some basics that I had from the beginning of the year with the new autumn trends in my wardrobe.
The bomber trend has been ALL OVER the shops this year and there's been some beautiful ones available. I love the look of them and have a couple myself but I've felt that some of the heavier material ones with tighter hems haven't suited my shape as well as they could have done because they make me look even more rounder than I already am.
When I saw the Pink Clove Plus Rita Longline Bomber online, I thought that this piece would be the perfect solution to my clothing dilemma. It ticks the bomber trend perfectly with the ribbed cuffs and collar and stretch knitted fabric but it is a longline shape which is far more flattering on my body shape because it doesn't have the ribbed hem that can give the rounded bubble shape.
Beige is a colour that I don't wear all too often as I'd assumed it would be a bit too similar to my pale skintone but I think that it looks great against an all black outfit. The material is perfect for the autumn time as it is thick enough to keep you warm yet it is lightweight enough to keep you from over heating if the sun gets out in the afternoon.
As the days get colder, I think this will make a great layering piece with a jumper and cami underneath too as there's plenty of room. I found the sizing to be pretty generous, especially since the fabric itself is stretchy.
You can find this bomber direct on the Pink Clove website or via ASOS Curve. It is incredibly good value for money and a fantastic way to update your autumn wardrobe
While you could pair this bomber easily with khaki, white, navy or burgundy, I love the look of it with an all black outfit underneath.
A staple black tee like this one for only £6 is ideal (plenty of alternatives are linked below too) because its so light weight, great fitting and a classic shape that won't detract from the bomber or add extra bulk underneath it.
Equally suited to this look are the black leather and ponte leggings that I chose to wear on the bottom. These were a great find at the beginning of the year but these ones are very similar and I've linked lots below so that you have plenty of options to get the look!
For shoes, I added my gorgeous tan studded trainers from Kurt Geiger. These were and absolute bargain as I picked them up for something silly like £14 in the sale last year. The only trouble is that they rip my heels to shreds so blister plasters are absolutely essential! These shoes aren't available anymore but again, I've linked some alternatives below.
I'm all about mixing the new with the old in my wardrobe and a piece like this longline bomber jacket is a great example of how you can affordably update your wardrobe for the new season ahead without having to splash out on too many new items!
