I’m one of those people who absolutely LOVES the start of a new year. While technically, 1st January is just the same as any other day, I always wake up with this calming air around me, as though my mindset and body is renewed, ready for a fresh start. Its gets me motivated and excited for the year ahead and everything that I hope to achieve.
However I know that for many of us, it feels as though as soon as New Years Day is over, its back to work and full steam ahead; busy, busy, busy. While you may not have the opportunity to ease yourself back into work mode gently, its important to remember the goals that you’ve set yourself for the year ahead and take some ‘me’ time so that you’re refreshed and prepared.
Personally, I like feeling put together and as though I’m looking my best. It isn’t for vanity reasons or anything like that but when my hair is in good condition, my skin is glowing and my nails are freshly painted, I feel like I can conquer the world. That little confidence pick me up is great for the first few days back at work where I’ve got meetings back to back and emails coming out of my eyeballs.
I’m going to share with you some of the ways that I get myself feeling put together and looking my best, at anytime of the year really and it all starts with a manicure.
If I don’t have the time for a spa mani, then I head for a Nails Inc Express Manicure at House of Fraser in the Metrocentre. This is a fast, speedy service where existing polish is removed, the nails are filed into shape and buffed and the cuticles are pushed back to get the nails looking neat and tidy. Since Nails Inc use a different emery board on each client, you can take yours home with you which I would recommend as they’re actually VERY good!
After filing, buffing and cuticle work, moisturiser is then applied to the hands to soften and nourish the skin which is particularly important when it is feeling weather beaten in the cold!
The fantastic Nails Inc NailKale Superfood Base Coat is then applied to encourage stronger, healthier nails and then a couple of coats your chosen nail polish shade is applied.
I picked the Nails Inc Coconut Bright Nail Polish in the shade Charlotte Villas which is a beautiful sunset coral colour. This is a gel effect nail polish enriched with coconut water which acts as a conditioning agent to help to hydrate the nails. I love the formula of these nail polishes because they have the Nails Inc plumping gel formula which really does give the nails the glossy, perfected look that you’d expect from having gel nails.
To complete the express nail transformation, the Nails Inc 45 second Kensington Caviar Top Coat is applied to seal in the colour and extend the wear of your manicure.
And how long does this all take, I hear you ask? 15 minutes!
You’re in and out of the nail bar in 15 minutes flat, ready to go about your day feeling that little bit more fabulous.
This manicure is perfect for women who are on the go. It has your nails looking presentable, perfected and polished in a short amount of time and since Nails Inc counters are in department stores all over the country, they tend to be open for longer hours than a lot of local beauty salons and you’re usually never too far away from one if you live in or near a city.
I have a few meetings in the Metrocentre, plus I do the majority of my shopping there, so its easy for me to book in for a quick nail pick me up before my work commitments.
The Express Manicure service is even great for if you need your nails doing before a date night, last minute holiday booking or night out with the girls where you’re frantically dashing about the shopping centre looking for that killer outfit with only a few hours to spare before you go out!
I went to see Katie Perry lookalike, Gemma, at House of Fraser and I’d highly recommend booking in at that particular Nails Inc counter, if you’re in the area. They’re located in the Green Mall, as it meets with the Platinum and Red Malls and theres a car park right outside too if you’re lucky enough to get a space.
This is possibly my favourite store to shop in as the staff are so friendly and knowledgable. Gemma did a fantastic job with my nails in such a short amount of time and she was friendly and chatty throughout the treatment which certainly made my day a little brighter.
While walk in appointments are often available, I’d suggest booking in advance to avoid disappointment. You can give this particular store a call on 0191 493 2424, or you can check out the Nails Inc website for further stockists, services and stores with Nails Inc nail bars.
For a quick nail fix on the go this New Year, the Nails Inc Express Manicure is definitely the treatment for you!
