Towards the latter part of 2016, I was captivated by Paul & Joe Beaute and my love affair with the brand is hurtling full speed into 2017 too.
Paul & Joe began as a fashion house making mens clothing before moving into womenswear and beyond, including into the realms of beauty in the early noughties. Originally created by Sophie Mechaly, Paul and Joe Beaute produce high quality and high performing skincare and beauty products that make the wearer feel and look naturally beautiful everyday, all while demonstrating the brands philosophy of fun-loving sophistication. The retro-modern packaging is not only superbly functional but beautifully designed too, running alongside the seasonal trends produced by the fashion house.
The aesthetic of Paul & Joe Beaute together with the beautiful skin and makeup results makes their products highly covetable, even more so because the majority of pieces are released as limited edition collections. In a nutshell, if you see something that you love, then you better grab it quickly because it will DEFINITELY sell out.
Such will be the case with this beauty that I’m pulling from my Lulu Guinness Black Lips Clutch on a recent festive evening out with friends…
The Paul and Joe Christmas Lipgloss in Mulberry Spice has to have been my most worn lipgloss in my whole collection over the last couple of months. I just can’t get enough of it!
I first introduced you to the Paul and Joe Marché de Noël Holiday Collection in my Stocking Filler Gift Guide and subsequent ‘Top Affordable Christmas Beauty Gifts‘ post so I do hope that you were able to pop one of the five gorgeous shades on your Christmas Wishlist in time for Santa coming. However if Santa wasn’t feeling the beauty vibes this year or if you have some Christmas money to spend, then I’d highly recommend picking one up now because they’ve gone into the sale and will sell out.
Take this as a great big flashing red LIMITED EDITION beacon; you have been warned!
But why the hype you might ask?
Well, the Paul and Joe lip glosses in general are absolutely gorgeous but the shade Mulberry Spice is especially beautiful. It is an incredibly wearable, will-suit-everyone, berry shimmer that looks flawless on the lips; there’s no uneven colour or chunky glitter, just a subtle light berry tint and a shimmer that reflects the light incredibly well, giving you the appearance of full, juicy lips. Think of it as enhancing your lips to make them look even more beautiful.
I’ve been wearing this gloss alone and over some of my other lipsticks and lip liners to give them a gorgeous hint of Paul & Joe sparkle.
While the colour and the way that it looks on my lips is what has made this my favourite lip gloss to wear over the last couple of months (and now into the third, hello January!), it is also the feel of it, the application and the wear time that have had me hooked too.
I hate really sticky glosses and this is far from that. It feels softening and hydrating and has enough stick to it that it’ll stay put on your own lips but not enough that your lips will stick to each other and leave those horrible blobs as you open an close your mouth!
It applies smoothly and evenly using the brush wand applicator from the fuss free and beautifully designed, retro packaging. After gliding on, the gloss lasts for hours, even through eating and drinking and it wears away evenly without any staining or leaving unsightly rings around the lips. It doesn’t bleed, it doesn’t transfer easily and you’ll not be stood picking your hair out of your lip gloss should a particularly enthusiastic gust of wind go by!
If a glossy, lip enhancing, beautiful pout is the look you’re going for in a formula that is comfortable to wear and long lasting then this is absolutely the gloss for you!
The Paul & Joe Christmas Lipgloss in Mulberry Spice is available on sale here but be quick as it is guaranteed to be a sell out. There’s a couple of other shades from the collection available on sale here too.
