One of my favourite things about blogging is discovering makeup brands that are new to me. I like it even more when those products become some of my everyday staples and that’s exactly what happened which I recently tried out three products from Artdeco.
Artdeco are Germany’s No.1 makeup brand and have been around since 1985 so they really know their stuff. I hadn’t heard of them before now but I guess that’s ok as they’re still quite new to the UK. They’ve already proven to be really popular with makeup artists and celebrities and I can see them gaining more and more popularity over here as time goes on.
They have such a wide range of makeup products to choose from whether you love creamy lipsticks or lip glosses, eyeshadows, eyeliners and mascaras, foundations, concealers and camouflages as well as glossy finish nail polishes. What I love about the Artdeco line is that it seems to be very much about elegance and glamour which is right up my street.
The three products that I have been trying out are all from the Artdeco Celebration Iconic Collection and I’m wearing them all in the photo above.
This collection was created to mark their 30th birthday and it brings together ten holy grail products within the extensive Artdeco product line. Carry on reading to find out how you can get these gorgeous products at a 30% off discount!
|Artdeco High Precision Liquid Liner*|
Out of the three products, my favourite is most definitely the Artdeco High Precision Liquid Liner in 01. This is the black shade and they also have the same eyeliner available in brown. When I say black, I mean black; it contains carbon black pigments for an intensely pigmented look. This liquid liner is super darker and with only one stroke, you get this incredibly intense, black colour that you needed go over at all as it gets the colour so right from the first application.
Felt tip liners are my favourite kind of liquid liner as I usually find them to be so easy to apply and far less fuss than using a gel liner with a pot or one of the other methods of applying eyeliner onto the upper lid. However the tip of this liquid liner is far longer and thinner than any liquid liner that I have used before. The pen like brush is made up of the finest fibres that come together to form a very fine tip that has quite a degree of flexibility to it. The tip enables you to be able to draw an incredibly precise and fine line with a high degree of control which I usually find to be difficult with liquid liners that have a flexible tip but not with this one! From the first use, I was able to make the line, particularly from the inner corner and across my lid, very thin which made the perfect non-dramatic, daytime look that was more of a beauty enhancer than a bold statement.
However using something this fine and precise took a couple of applications to get used to as I’m used to using liquid liners that have tips that are far chunkier in comparison and I had to adjust my method of application to suit the different brush. This was only a good thing however because the precision that can be achieved with this liquid liner is unrivalled. If you’re someone who often applies too much eyeliner then this is the one that you need as it is so fine that it would be hard to do that. Also if you tend to struggle to apply liquid liner in the first place then this one is also good for you because you can literally just place
At first I was confused as to how to create the wing for my liner as usually the liners I use seem to do it for me and they end up how they end up whereas with this liner, you’re able to draw the wing exactly as you want it and then simply fill it in with the pen.
This liner would also be good for if you were doing any intricate looks, perhaps for halloween as the hair like, fine strokes would be effortless to create with this makeup product.
Like I remarked earlier, the lines that you draw with this liquid liner are super black and they stay that way all day until you remove your makeup. The liner has a gentle, fragrance free formula that doesn’t sting, tug or dry the eyes and it is suitable for those with sensitive eyes and for contact lens wearers. Out of everything that I have tried, this is the one product that I would say is a MUST TRY.
|Artdeco Glossy Lip Volumizer*|
The product that I was the most excited to try was the Glossy Lip Volumizer as I’m all about the lips in my makeup routine at the moment which is strange for me as I usually like to focus on my eyes.
I expected the Glossy Lip Volumizer to be one of those glosses that you apply to your lips and feel a ridiculously strong tingling sensation that makes you want to pull your face off. I’ve used glosses like that in the past and all they’ve done is make me go very red and blotchy. This lip gloss is nothing like that. I could feel something ever so slightly and I’m not sure whether it was a slight tingling sensation, perhaps from the mint in it or whether I was just imagining it but if there was a tingle there, it didn’t make much difference to the volume in my lips.
This gluten free gloss applies so smoothly from the doe foot applicator and literally glides onto the lips with a beautiful light scent of fresh mint. While it might look like it would be pink from the way the gloss looks in the packaging, it isn’t. It is very much a clear gloss with an ever so slight hint of pink. I think it is the colour and super glossy finish combined with the ingredients in the gloss that enable it to make the lips look fuller.
The Artdeco Glossy Lip Volumizer has a rich blend of hyaluronic acid and wild mango butter that nourishes the lips so well while giving them a gorgeously glossy, non sticky finish. My lips feel so soft while I’m wearing this gloss and when I remove it. The gloss is buildable so I find that I can wear one coat alone on my lips or over the top of my lip liner and lipstick, and I can build it up with another layer if I wish. I find that the glossy look is what gives my lips this gorgeous fulness when I wear this gloss and I really love the effect that it gives. It makes my lips look plump, juicy and kissable and I’m so pleased that I got to try it because this gloss has become a staple in my bag. It can be layered over anything to give me the glossy, full look that i love which is what makes it such a staple for me!
The third and final product that I have been using from Artdeco is the Skin Perfecting Make-up Base which is unlike any other priming product I’ve used before.
It has a very light, almost gel texture that actually feels quite slippy and fluid like a serum when you apply it and start smoothing it onto the skin. It is effortless to apply and almost feels like a second skin. It has this effect that is hydrating yet lightly mattifying on the skin which I do think helps my makeup to stay on longer which is quite an achievement given that my skin is so oily! It doesn’t dry out my skin at all thanks to the nourishing Vitamin E and mineral complex that it contains and leaves it feeling soft and smooth which is the perfect base for applying makeup. I’ve tried it with a few different foundations over the top (Laura Mercier, Too Faced and Makeup Atelier Paris) and I’ve had no complications with the application of any of them.
I love the way this base feels on my skin and it actually makes my skin look better on its own too as it enhances its appearance by smoothing over my enlarged pores and fine lines on my forehead and underneath my eyes. It is safe to use all over the skin as it is fragrance, silicon and paraben free and suitable for even those with sensitive skin.
If you’re looking for something to smooth out your skin before applying makeup, then this is a good primer to go for!
