Cara Delevingne Inspired Make Up: Shimmering Smokey Eye

In today’s post, I’m going to recreate the make up look that Cara Delevingne wore to the Elle Style Awards 2014 (check out her look here).

Cara wore quite a summery look considering the awards were earlier in the year and she sported a gorgeous shimmering smokey eye.

For my base, I applied the Collection Lasting Perfection Ultimate Wear Foundation (buy here) in Porcelain 1 all over my face and blended it down onto my neck.

Collection Lasting Perfection Foundation in Porcelain 1*

This foundation is perfect for this look because it gives a flawless look and for oily skinned girls like me, it keeps shine at bay.  Cara’s skin looked super healthy and flawless so to achieve this look you’re looking for a foundation that is going to minimise the appearance of imperfections and make your skin look its natural best.

Collection Illuminating Touch Brightening Concealer*

For some extra brightening power, I used the Collection Illuminating Touch Brightening Concealer (buy here) in Natural 2 under my eyes in a triangle shape to really brighten and lift that area of my face.  This product is great because it is a high power concealer, like the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer that I’ve been repurchasing for years but it has this insane brightening power like the YSL Touche ร‰clat.

Too Faced The Bronzed and The Beautiful Palette

After applying my base, I then added a natural glow and a contour to my face using the Pink Leopard Bronzer by Too Faced.  Mine was out of ‘The Bronzed and The Beautiful’ bronzing powder palette but it is the old style one and I’m not sure if it is still available however Pink Leopard is available on its own here.  I’ve had this palette for years and I love it.

Pink Leopard is a bronzer that gives an illuminating, tropical tan look and it does have some shimmer to it.  I wouldn’t usually use a shimmer to contour with however I didn’t do my contour very defined, rather I swept this under my cheek bones in quite a wide strip, using the super soft kabuki style brush that comes in the set.  I also applied some around the outside of my face, down the sides of my nose and on my forehead.

Collection and Urban Decay Eyeshadows

For my eyes, I swept the Collection Work The Colour Solo Eyeshadow in Rosy Gold (buy hereall over my lid, up to and including my brow bone.  I then took a MAC 217 and swept the Urban Decay eyeshadow in Jones (buy here) across my lid and blended quite high in the crease, up to my brow bone.  Then I used the Collection Work The Colour Solo Eyeshadow in Baked Bronze (buy hereon the outer third of my lid to add a little depth to the look.  I then took then Urban Decay Jones shadow under my lower lash line, taking the shadow quite low and then again, I added some of the Baked Bronze shadow to deepen it up a little.

Next, I lined my eyes using the Collection Extreme 24 Hour Felt Tip Liner (buy herein black which is my favourite liquid liner.  The felt tip makes it so easy to apply and it lasts all day without fail.  Cara has a winged eyeliner look here that follows her lash line before flicking out and thats the look that I created using this liner.

I then applied lashings of mascara to the upper and lower lashes using the Clinique Lash Power Mascara (buy herein 01 Black Onyx.  This is an amazing mascara that creates length and volume in an instant.  This is my favourite mascara at the moment.

Cara Delevingne’s signature feature is her eyebrows; they’re bold, dark and strong.  To recreate her bold brows, I used the Collection Work The Colour Eyebrow Kit (buy here).  This is a fabulous eyebrow kit that is super affordable but excellent quality.  You get three generously sized brow powders, a small brush and a clear brow mascara.  I’ll have a full review of this product up soon as I’ve thoroughly enjoyed trying it out.

Collection Work The Colour Eyebrow Kit*

To create a Cara Delevingne inspired look, I took the middle brown shadow on the little angled brush from the kit to fill in my brows, to create the strong, dark look.  I then set my brows in place using the little clear brow mascara in the kit.

Collection Deluxe Lipstick in 03 Charleston*

To complete the look, I applied the Collection Deluxe Lipstick (buy here) in 03 Charleston which is a gorgeous brown nude.  This lipstick applies like a dream and feels super creamy on the lips.

At the Elle Style Awards, Cara wore loose waves in her hair with a strong side fringe.  She pulled one side of her hair back into a braid and pulled her hair over the shoulder on the side where her fringe lay.  Whilst I have short hair right now, I recreated this look by putting some loose curls in my hair using my straighteners and then I pinned the left side of my hair back with a kirby grip, pulled my hair around and then curled my fringe under.

I hope you like the look I’ve created; it feels very strange having such full brows!

What are your favourite Cara Delevinge make up looks?  Which stars make up look would you like me to recreate next?

Check out my previous celebrity inspired make up look here.  It is Emma Watson’s English Rose look.
