Before I start this post, I must say that I’m so pleased that I thought to take a photo of this gorgeous Charles Farris candle before I started burning it. I’ve been that addicted, not an evening has gone by where I haven’t lit the wick and enjoyed the incredible scent and flickering light!
Charles Farris are one of Britain’s oldest chandlers having been founded in London in 1845 and still to this day, their candles are still handmade by a small team in Wiltshire using traditional methods and the finest ingredients. They’re not only famous for being holders of the Royal Warrant but also for supplying a vast number of churches and cathedrals with candles and other church supplies such as advent frames, lecterns and vestments.
Relatively recently, they launched their line of scented candles and diffusers to really bring Charles Farris products into the home. While of course, their pillar candles can and have been used in homes for years, scented candle are very synonymous with home fragrance.
There are two types of scented candles; one that comes in a tin and another than comes in a glass. The latter are known as the Signature Candle range and I have ‘Rubus,’ a blackberry and bay scent.
The Charles Farris Signature Candle in Rubus smells absolutely incredible and fills my huge living room with its scent. The Blackberry and Bay fragrance combines sharp, tangy blackberry notes with more herbal, aromatic notes. Theres a definite air of the outdoors with this candle; it has a summer in the countryside vibe to it which is really addictive and makes me feel happy when I smell it. This is unusual in itself as its actually a scent that I wouldn’t usually go for had I just read the name and not actually smelt it.
The burn time on Charles Farris Signature Candles is around 40 hours and I’m about half way through burning this one. I’m really impressed with how evenly it has burned. There isn’t lots of soot around the rim of the glass like I’ve found with some candles and above all, this is a very high quality candle.
The scent is so pure, realistic and natural. It is powerful without being overbearing which is just the right amount of fragrance for me. It is very much a scent that is suited to any room in the home but especially the living room or bathroom.
This is my first Charles Farris candle and it certainly wont be my last. Everything from the packaging down to the candle itself is nothing short of classic and elegant.
Those who know of my latest obsession with the colour navy will guess that I’m very much loving the navy, textured glass that this candle comes in! The wax is hand poured into the glasses to ensure a slow and even burn.
I’d highly recommend treating yourself to one of these candles or gifting one to a friend or family member for their birthday. It’ll certainly not disappoint.
