Charles Worthington All Over Gloss Spray Review

Charles Worthington Shine Booster All Over Gloss Spray Review Shiny Healthy Hair

Over the party season, I have been testing out the Shine Booster All Over Gloss Spray from the Salon At Home hair care line by Charles Worthington.

When I think of gloss sprays, I automatically think of adding more grease to my already oily hair so this product had a lot of obstacles to overcome with me before it could impress me.  However I am really pleased that I didn’t let my misconceptions get the better of me and after trying this product now for the last month, I’ve got to say, I’m impressed.  So if you’re an oily haired girl reading this post, don’t stop here, keep on reading with the dry haired girls out there…

The Charles Worthington Shine Booster All Over Gloss Spray is a finishing spray that you would use as the last step in your haircare routine to give your hair a healthy gloss and shine, after you’ve washed, styled and set your hair in place.

Simply mist from a distance all over your hair.  I say mist because I find that to be the best way to apply it rather than to liberally spray.  If your hair is particularly long, then I’d suggest either spritzing some into the air and quickly walking backwards through it or get someone to stand behind you and spritz through the lengths of your hair as you turn your head slightly.  I find that this enables the product to land naturally on the hair and creates a beautiful, natural shine as your hair catches the light.  Of course, it is easy to apply yourself, I just find that those two tips are quite handy for when you’re getting ready for a special night out (I always have Mr WLL on hand to help me with things like this, zips, cutting out labels and such!).

Wearing my S Locks by Sinead Hair Extensions- fitted at Refine in Whitburn

The All Over Gloss Spray doesn’t make the hair feel dry or crispy in the slightest and as long as you don’t overload your hair with it, particularly at the root, it makes the hair feel soft and nourished, not oily at all.  It uses a unique Luminoil Complex that penetrates deep inside the hair cuticle to nourish it from within.  It also helps to smooth the surface of the hair which helps to give it a gorgeous healthy shine.  This is particularly useful if you have added a lot of texture to your hair, perhaps with back combing which can really make the hair appear drier, particularly if you have colour treated blonde hair.

I found that after using the All Over Gloss Spray, like in the photo above, my hair looked healthy, shiny and glossy.  It had that movie star look about it and captured the light really well which made the different tones in my hair stand out as being multidimensional.  I’ve used this on both my natural hair, my AMAZING S Locks Extensions (review coming soon) and on my Foxy Locks clip in extensions and it had the same gorgeous effect on them all.

I also found the spray to work particularly well on smoothing the ends of my hair which can be quite dry.  For a more precise application, I’d spray the product into my fingers, rub it slightly between my finger tips and then run them through the ends of my hair.  This helped to smooth fly aways, particularly when wearing my hair straight and to make my hair look really sleek.

While I didn’t find the spray to make my hair more oily, I did find that it lasted in my hair and actually made it more manageable.  If I freshly washed my hair for a night out and sprayed this through my hair, I would wake up the next day with my hair as oily as it usually is on the second day after washing it (i.e. in need of a quick spritz of dry shampoo) but it was easy to brush through, even after having hair spray on the night before and the glossy effect on my hair was still there which really impressed me as I don’t like to have to overload my hair with more and more product every day.

I also really liked the smell of this spray as it is fresh and clean smelling, very fruity and floral which is a nice touch and means that I don’t need to wear my favourite hair perfume when I have this on my hair.

Another thing is that this product claims to be safe for colour treated hair and I would definitely agree with that insofar as I have been using it a lot and haven’t noticed my colour fading quicker.  I had the top of my hair died darker in September in sort of an outgrown style and while my lighter roots have come through, I don’t think that this product lightened or adversely affected the coloured parts of my hair at all.

The Charles Worthington All Over Gloss Spray is available here and is currently on offer for only £3.99 reduced from £5.99 which is a fabulous deal, especially as you will use the product so sparingly, it will last you for ages!

What is your favourite Charles Worthington product?  What should I try out next?
