When it comes to shopping for drugstore makeup, Collection is quite possibly my favourite brand. Their products are affordable but fabulous quality especially for their price.
I have been trying out the Collection Lasting Perfection Ultimate Wear Foundation and today I wanted to let you know what I think of it. My skin is very oily usually so I need a foundation that is going to last a long time on my skin. This is something that I find difficult to find from drugstore foundations but I have been very pleasantly surprised by this one from Collection; once again, they haven’t let me down.
The Lasting Perfection foundation is a unique 6 in 1 product that is designed to prime, conceal, cover, smooth, protect and mattify the skin. It aims to provide a flawless coverage that is long lasting with up to 16 hour wear and while I haven’t worn it for a full 16 hours, I have really put it through its paces and while it doesn’t compare to some of my high end foundations, I would definitely say that it is the most long lasting drugstore foundation I have ever used as they never usually last 5 minutes on me!
Theres around six different shades available in this foundation of which I have the lightest, 1 Porcelain which is only really suitable for me when I am at my palest… such as now when I am freezing in this awful snowy weather! The shade selection is ok for those with fair skin tones but it is very limited for those with medium tones and none existant, as far as I can see, for darker skins.
The packaging of this foundation is great in that it has a pump and it comes in a glass bottle that looks lovely on my dressing table and not to mention the fact that it looks more expensive than it actually is. While glass bottles aren’t great for travel, the pump makes it easy to dispense a small amount into a little pot to take with me when I go away.
This foundation has SPF20 which is great if you’re going to be wearing it during the daytime but just be careful if you’re putting it on your skin at night. SPF in foundation reflects light so if you’re having photographs taken, its likely you’ll get that dreaded flashback face where your face is a stark white contrast compared to the rest of your body.
It applies smoothly and evenly regardless of whether I’m using a brush or my fingers to apply it. This is a foundation that you need to work quickly with to apply as it does start to dry relatively quickly but you still have plenty of time to blend it into your skin to leave a flawless finish. The coverage sits between medium and high and what I like about the formula is that you can lightly build it in areas that you may need more coverage without creating a cakey finish on the skin. I have found that it does a great job at evening out my skin tone and I don’t actually need to wear concealer with it at all.
The foundation has an oil free formula which is ideal if you’re an oily skinned gal like me. I don’t wear it with a primer as I find that one isn’t needed however I do set the foundation with a powder, usually the Collection Lasting Perfection Powder, and find that it lasts a good 5 hours before I find that I really need to powder. I never get this long out of a drugstore foundation so to find one that would last while I pop out to the shops, go for lunch and run errands is fine with me as I don’t always want to be wearing my more expensive products if I’m not going to be out for very long.
The Collection Lasting Perfection Foundation very loosely reminds me of the Estee Lauder Double Wear Light Foundation in both its consistency, application and finish. I have found that with quite a few collection products and think that the really make a fabulous cheaper alternative to the higher end Estee Lauder products. For example their Lasting Perfection Concealer is very similar to the Estee Lauder Double Wear Concealer but for a fraction of the price.
If you’re on a budget and looking for a new foundation to try then I would certainly recommend this one.
The Collection Lasting Perfection Foundation is available here for a purse friendly £5.99 (at the time of writing, there’s a deal on this foundation where you can pick it up for a super small £3.99 so grab it while you can!).
What do you think of this foundation? Can you recommend any other good drugstore foundations for oily skin?
