CVS American Drugstore Holiday Haul

On my recent holiday to Florida, I hit up CVS which is an American drugstore, similar to Boots and Superdrug in the UK.  I’d never been there before but I’d heard a lot about it online in recent months.

I must admit, I’m generally a high end beauty girl as I am not someone who has a tonne of make up so when I do buy something I like to splurge a little.  However I am ALWAYS on the look out for some good drugstore finds to rival my higher end products.  I was really interested in trying some products from the American drugstore as some of their brands aren’t available in the UK.  I think it is good try these kinds of products because then its harder to be swayed by thinking ‘oh that’s X high end brand so it must be great’ and vice versa, so you’re buying what you actually think looks like it will be right for you, if that makes any sense!

With not knowing too much about UK drugstore brands, I wasn’t really looking for products from brands that you can buy in the UK like L’Oreal or Rimmel, etc.  I know that there are different shades of certain products and some items that you can get in America but not in the UK but I wasn’t sure what these products were and wasn’t really interested in finding out.  Instead, I wanted to try some products from lines that I had never tried before and can’t get easily in the UK.  I didn’t want to go too crazy as there was no samples or testers out to try the products for pigmentation, etc.

Milani Baked Blush in 02 Rose D’Oro and 10 Delizioso Pink

The first two products that I bought were from Milani.  I haven’t really heard much about the other products in the brand, aside from the blushers so I made a beeline for them.

I picked up two different shades of the Milani Baked Blush- number 02 Rose D’Oro which is beautifully shimmery and number 10 Delizioso Pink which, according to the packaging is a new matte shade.  These were both $8.49 each.

Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips Shadow and Liner Palettes

Next, I moved onto Physicians Formula which is another brand that is very hard to get a hold of in the UK.  Two products that stood out to me immediately were the Simmer Strips Custom Eye Enhancing Shadow and Liner Palettes.  These were available in shades to suit any eye colour which were the ones I bought or for specific eye colours to enhance them.  I picked up the Classic Nude Eyes palette and the Natural Nude Eyes palette, the latter of which reminds me of the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette (however since using both palettes, I can say that while some overall tones are reminiscent in either palette, they are actually nothing like each other when you use them!).  These palettes are made up of nine shades, designed to create three different looks- natural playful and dramatic.  The stripes of shadow have one highlighter shade, one base shade and then one thinner strip designed to be an eyeliner shade.  These are all powders and can be worn in any combination you like but I do think that it is cool that they’re laid out as different eye looks, plus the shadows can be worn dry or wet for a more intense look.  These were $12.79 each.

Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips Eyeliner Trio

The last Physicians Formula product that I purchased was the Shimmer Strips Custom Eye Enhancing Eyeliner Trip which, like the eyeshadows above, are available in different shades to compliment different eye colours.  I bought the Enhance and Define for Brown Eyes which consists of three eyeliners- one brown, one purple and one black, each with a sharpener built into the lid.  I cant wait to start trying these out.  The set was $11.99.

Essie Nail Polishes in Set in Stones, Bikini So Teeny and Go Ginza

I also picked up three Essie nail polishes.  These are available in the UK however they are cheaper in America than they are in the UK and since I have so many nail polishes already, I needed my holiday as an excuse to buy more lol.

The colours that I picked are Bikini So Teeny which I have lusted after for so long after seeing it on so many girls nails online, Go Ginza which I saw on Ally’s blog recently and I HAD to have it and Set In Stones which is a luxe effect nail polish top coat that I’ve seen countless times on the Newly Polished Instagram page.  I can’t wait to wear this as a tip on top of a nude polish, it will look amazing.  Each of these polishes was $8.50.

Crest 3D White Luxe Glamorous White Toothpaste

I then headed to the dental hygiene aisle where I picked up a value pack of the Crest 3D White Luxe Glamorous White Toothpaste for $8.99 which claims to remove 90% of surface stains in only 5 days.  America generally has a much better selection of whitening products than we have in the UK so I had to pick up some of their toothpaste.

My partner and I used up one tube while on our holiday and we’re working our way through the other now that we’re home and I have to say that I do think it works.  Don’t get me wrong, I’m not sitting here with that super bright white Hollywood smile but my teeth do look whiter and brighter than before I started using it.  It cleans my teeth really well and makes my breath smell fresh and minty so it gets the thumbs up from me!

Hello Seriously Friendly Mouthwash in Pink Grapefruit Mint

Another teeth related purchase was the Hello Seriously Friendly Mouthwash in the Pink Grapefruit Mint variety.  I had no idea whether I would like this or not but I had heard Nikki Phillippi talk about it on her YouTube Channel and she loves it so I thought I would give it a go.  It was $6.49 and having used it up on honeymoon, I have to say I wish I’d bought more… well if they’d have fit in my suitcase.  I’m not usually someone who likes the taste of grapefruit but I loved this as it was refreshing and very good at cleansing the palette.  I SO wish this brand would come to the UK!

So that’s it for my CVS American drugstore haul, I hope you liked it.  I’ll be reviewing the products in due course but as always, if there are any products you’d like to see reviewed sooner than others then do let me know.

So funny to see you do an "American drugstore" haul. I'm sure I'd be just as excited trying new brands from another country. I use the Physician's Formula eye palettes regularly. For a while, I was having freaking allergic reactions to just about everything, and I scaled back my make-up to just Physician's Formula as it's a hypo-allergenic brand. It's a definite favorite, even though I've started adding back in other brands. I also prefer Essie over several other nail products here. It dries super fast and doesn't get gloopy. I'm horrible at doing my nails, so these are essential features for me! I hope you have fun with your new products!<3

I'd go wild in CVS! I do often see Milani & Physicians Formula products in my local TK Maxx store, might be worth a check.
