My Favourite Sofa Memory with DFS Sofas

On a Sunday afternoon, there’s nothing better than curling up on the sofa to watch a feel good movie.  Whether I’m hungover, feeling under the weather or just tired after a busy week at work, the rest does me the world of good.

Naturally, it has to be the right sofa for me to get cosy on and ours is perfect for movie watching; a squishy leather 3 seater that just gets better with age.  Thanks to its high back, wide arms and deep filled cushions, it is perfect for lounging on regardless of which position you’re in.

Comfort is key when you’re movie watching so if you’re a film buff like I am then you’ll need to be looking out for a sofa that is ideal for relaxing on for hours on end.  With DFS Sofas new in-store campaign, Sofa Match Makers, they’ll help you to find just that; the sofa thats perfect for you.

One of my most favourite sofa memories is from the day that we watched a very real fairytale movie; our own wedding DVD.

I remember vividly the postman knocking at the door with the parcel to sign for but I recall the yearning to watch it straight away even more strongly.  Mr WLL was away with work and I’d promised to wait until he was home before watching it.

The following weekend we came back from the supermarket loaded with goodies and headed straight into the kitchen to prepare our feast; lamb wellington with all of the trimmings, followed by strawberry and white chocolate crumble to recreate part of our wedding breakfast.

Snuggled up on the sofa, we pressed play and relived our wedding again for the first time.

It’s a magical feeling watching your wedding DVD back because you’re able to get an insight into what the other person was doing on the morning of the wedding before you get to see them.  For me, that meant seeing Mr WLL add the finishing touches to his suit with the help of my dad and his best man.  The care and attention in creating a smart appearance didn’t go unnoticed, nor did the nerves he was desperately trying to hide!

Our wedding day was one of the best days of our lives and so many of our friends have said that it was certainly one of the most enjoyable of theirs.  Watching the footage back from the comfort of our home meant that we could see the happiness on their faces and experience moments that were captured without us knowing.  On your wedding day, you’re so wrapped up in the beauty and whirlwind of the day that its easy to miss or forget about small aspects which is why its so lovely to be able to watch it again from another perspective.

I especially loved to see our friends and family enjoying the fireworks display at the end of the night as we had our back to them as we looked out to take in the beautiful sight too!

We’ll certainly treasure our DVD, shot by top North East wedding videographers One Digital Image, forever and the memories we made on the day as well as watching it back and I think it will become even more dear to us as our friends and family get older.  You never know what will happen in life so having your loved ones living and breathing on film on such a happy occasion is really something to value.

Whenever my friends get engaged now, I always urge them to have their wedding recorded because it is such a precious day to capture and with a DVD, you’re able to relive those memories time and time again.  We have so many fond memories from the day itself but also from having friends and family around after the wedding to watch it back.

There’s nothing quite like cozying up on the sofa to watch the footage like we did with our own tasty recreation of our wedding breakfast!  The ultimate fairytale movie…

What would your perfect sofa look and feel like?  What is one of your favourite sofa memories?

We bought a new sofa last summer and it's my favorite ever. It's super deep, with lots and lots of pillows. Perfect for weekend naps with one (or both) of our dogs

I have to admit, there really is nothing better than curling up on a Sunday to watch a film. And I love the idea of filming your wedding so you can re-watch it again and again x

I like big comfortable sofas, one of my favourite memories is when my Daughter was about a month old and I was lying on the sofa with my knees up and she was lying on me facing me, and I was chatting away to her and making noises. Her face looked like she understood everything and it was all just so perfect something I will remember for ever x

Aw, what a lovely romantic story! I think my favourite sofa memories would be snuggling up with the boys to watch films together when they were little. You can't beat a squishy snuggly duvet day!

I'm such a big fan of comfortable, leather sofas with sharp, modern shapes and metal feet. Paired with another, "funkier" sofa, I really do think they can make a room feel both chic and homely. Too bad I don't have such a goor romance to watch on DVD though… Ha!

What a lovely memory. We've recently got a new sofa. It's an ex m&s a lovely blue colour.we got 2 actually both 2 seater but one is much bigger than the other (really a 3 seater) it's so big they couldn't get it in the house. Luckily the delivery guys driver it over to store in my grans garage till my dad contacted the window company to take the front window out to get it in. I guess it's not an on the sofa memory but always make a me laugh x

We bought our sofa from DFS about 3-4 years ago. I love it. My favourite memory would have to be when my partner and I pulled out the sofa bed and set it up super comfy and had a film night. We had lots of crappy food spread out. It was so comfy 🙂

Awwh what a lovely memory. We got a new sofa recently and it has made such a difference, as it's the place we spend most of our time.

I like wide big sofas that are cosy to sit on rather than leather ones.

It's so lovely to preserve the memories of your special day like that! When I get married I'll get someone to do the same so that we can watch it back again and again 🙂
