Whenever I travel I always swear blind that I will not indulge in any duty free shopping but of course, as soon as I get to the airport, this idea goes out of the window. Back in August when we went to Turkey, I found several fantastic buys including some repurchases of my favourite perfumes Deep Night by Ghost and Deep Red by Hugo Boss which had a massive 40% off the already duty free price for the 100ml bottles. Bargains. This time though, I was being much more careful with my money. With Christmas coming up, it would have been a great idea to buy a lot of presents in Duty Free but since this trip was a last minute trip, I had actually bought all of my Christmas gifts already, so I wasn’t looking to buy anything in the airport. Until I spotted this gorgeous lipstick in the YSL section and I just had to buy it!
YSL Rouge Volupte in no. 19 Frivolous Pink
The packaging of this lippy is gorgeous, i am in lipstick heaven. Ive read a few blogs who have said that the packaging looks tacky but I think its amazing. So classy and expensive looking, which I suppose it is anyway. I bought this for £17.50 in the duty free section at Newcaslte Airport but I they retail in UK stores for £21.00.
This cool toned pink has a silky smooth texture that is a joy to apply. It glides on effortlessly with fantastic colour pay off. This is just the perfect colour me. Its a creamy light pink that is so girlie. I’m really pleased that I swatched this lippy as at first glance, it looks quite dusky in the packaging but when swatched its a gorgeous, what I call, baby Barbie pink. For a lippy that is so moisturising, it lasts forever. When I first applied it, I was worried that it was going to just slide straight off but it lasts for a surprisingly long time.
I’m really impressed with the Rouge Volupte range at YSL and cant wait to try some more shades. They are highly pigmented and have a lovely thick consistency that, despite being a little put off at first, I now love.
Although this is probably targeted towards being a summer lippy, I would wear it all year round. I’m going out tonight and intend to wear it with light cheeks and a dark smokey eye.
Can you recommend any other shades in the YSL Rouge Volupte lipstick range?
I agree with you on the packaging, its beautiful! I want one of those lipstick just because they look so pretty but sadly they are out of my price range 🙁
Wow, what an amazing shade of pink!
Ahh I already have no.1 but I want frivolous pink so badddd!looks gorge 🙂 xo
this colour looks so pretty! reminds me of pink friday but a bit paler xx
such a nice shade! i have no2 which is a nude but a nice wearable one cos its quite beige-y. you need to see it in person to appreciate how nice it is 🙂
Simply fabulous! I really love the color it suits in your complexion and I'm looking forward to have one too along with mineral lipstick.
@Rossaaay I know what you mean hun, they are pretty pricey, although somethings are worth saving up for. Personally I would rather spend more money on a good foundation than buy all lipsticks at £20 each. Especially when theres so many fantastic cheaper ones out ther. Theres loads of lippys in boots superdrug that have lovely packaging, i love 17 lipsticks and maybelline.Laura xoxo
@G A B Y – Its pretty special! SO wearable@beckiangel44 – Ooh may have to add it to your collection! Im gonna google shade 1… *googles* Nude Beige, NICE. Thats stunning.@*Starsglittermagic* – It does show up similar to the Pink Friday swatches ive seen but ive not tried this lippy out so i dunno what comparrisons could be drawn between the two in real life.@Emma – Shade 2 was another I saw in duty free, may have to get it next time. I love wearable nudes, none of this concealer lip business!@mineral lipstick – Thank you. I hope you enjoy it too.Laura xoxo
