If you strongly believe that you have too much stuff, then you will know how frustrating this can be. You may find it hard to let go of certain items, and you may even find it difficult to make space in your home as well. I read Marie Kondo’s book, The Life Changing Magic of Tidying and it really helped me when clearing out my own home both at my dads house and now at my apartment.

The BEDROOM WARDROBE
It’s very easy for you to get rid of clothes that you don’t think you’ll ever wear again. The problem is getting rid of clothes that you love, but don’t fit anymore. Sure, you might think that you’ll fit into them someday, and that you will eventually be able to wear that top from your teenage years too, but this is probably not going to happen. Push yourself to donate them to charity, or even throw them in the trash. After a week, you probably won’t even notice that they are gone! If you have bags upon bags of clothes that wouldn’t be suitable for charity, then why not look into a rubbish disposal service to see if they can help you out?
The next place that you need to start is your bathroom. It helps to discard any medication, make-up or even skincare products that you no longer use. Your cabinet drawers should also be cleared out. Anything that is left over can then be put back on the shelf, or in the cupboard. Of course, it helps to keep any items that you do use at eye-level if possible because when you do this, you can find whatever you need instantly.
Look around, do you have tons of shoes, old high heels or odd trainers lying around? Maybe you have a shoe rack that you haven’t paid attention to for quite some time. Either way, it helps to go through everything and then throw out anything that you no longer need. Sure, you might think that it helps to have a pair of wellies by the door in case you go out on a long muddy walk, but how often do you really do that? Probably no more than a couple of times a year, so put them in storage and free up that space. If you have a key rack that is full of old keys, then it helps to go through that and dispose of anything that you no longer need.
The coffee table really can be full of junk. This can make it hard for you to actually use it for its purpose. If you want to get around this then you need to throw away any magazines that you don’t need anymore. If you have a pile of coasters, try and cut down on them a bit. You really only need two or three coasters on the table at any one time, so having stacks of them is just adding more clutter to the space. Anything that is not suited to the purpose of the coffee table should also be removed, such as piles of papers or even bank statements.
The kitchen is the most notorious room when it comes to clutter. You may find that you have tonnes of pots and pans that you just don’t use anymore, and if this is the case then you need to try and get rid of them. Think about it, if you were to cook a huge family dinner right now, what would you use? These are the items that you need to keep. Then work out what you’d use to make meals on a daily basis. Anything left over, can be put into storage. A lot of households make the mistake of not throwing out their old dishes and bowls when they buy new ones, and this can lead to a serious amount of clutter over time. To avoid this, throw out any pottery that has chips, or that doesn’t match in with the majority of what you have. This will make it so much easier for you to stay on top of your kitchen clutter and it will make it way easier for you to keep everything in order too.
