I honestly cannot believe that the last time I published an empties post was back in October. I have used so many products up since then but I’ve been focusing on getting rid of all of my travel sized products and samples which I don’t include in these posts as I don’t feel as though I get to try them for long enough to be able to make my mind up on them and to form a well rounded opinion. That being said, I have still built up plenty of full sized products to share with you along the way… and they’re starting to take over a corner of my office so I thought it was about time I finally wrote up this post!
Just looking at these products now, I think they have to be the most varied bunch of empties I’ve featured on WhatLauraLoves- there’s a bit of everything in there; hair, body, skincare, make up and fragrance.
John Frieda Frizz-Ease Miraculous Recovery Intensive Masque
Starting with hair and a product I have absolutely LOVED which is the John Frieda Frizz-Ease Miraculous Recovery Intensive Masque. When my hair was really frizzy and breaking at the beginning of last year, I started using this and it INSTANTLY helped to soothe and soften my hair and I’ve used it religiously ever since. I honestly cannot recommend it enough if you have dry, damaged or frizzy hair. Even if you have oily hair at the roots like I do then you can still use this- I found that it didn’t add any extra grease to my hair at all. You can buy this mask from Feel Unique, Superdrug and Boots for around £5.89. I actually bought mine from Asda where it was on offer, 3 for £10 which I would HIGHLY recommend looking out for because once you’ve tried this mask, you never want to be without it.
Lush American Cream Hair Conditioner
By contrast, another product that I have used up is the American Cream Hair Conditioner from Lush which is £8.95 for a 250ml bottle. This conditioner contains fresh strawberries which are intended to strengthen and cleanse the hair which I didn’t find happened with this conditioner. It also contains a little orange juice which is supposed to make your hair glossy and reflect more light, which it doesnt, at least not on my hair. It also contains lanolin which is there to coat the hair follicles and to help to protect the hair from damage from heat styling, while the honey in it is supposed to help the hair to stay hydrated. Clary Sage is also listed within the ingredients to soothe the scalp and also lavender which is supposed to be very calming on troubled scalps. I’m guessing that by now you have realised that I am not a fan of this product. It felt like I was putting cotton wool soaked in water through my hair, it smelt awful (very artificial which is unusual for Lush) and it actually dried my hair out. Has anyone else had this problem with this hair conditioner? I didn’t notice any improvement in the condition of my hair after using this and I wouldn’t recommend it at all, nor would I repurchase it. Sorry Lush, I love you but not this product!
Moving onto shower products and three scrubs that I have been absolutely loving and one not quite so much.
Soap and Glory Sugar Crush Body Scrub
The first is Soap and Glory’s Sugar Crush Body Scrub which is available here and my full review is available to read here. This is one of my favourite scrubs of all time and it is my absolute favourite scent that Soap and Glory do. Sugar Crush contains smashed brown sugar, sweet lime, almond oil and macadamia grains which work together to create a really abrasive scrub that sloughs away all of the dead skin cells but leaves you feeling super soft and moisturised afterwards. It smells just like key lime pie which is absolutely delicious! I’ve already repurchased this to use on my honeymoon so I’m sure you’ll be seeing that in another empties post in the not too distant future!
Victoria’s Secret Sparking Citrus Lemon Escape
The other scrub that I have been using up is also a warm, zesty scent but this time it is by Victorias Secret. The Sparkling Citrus Lemon Escape body scrub is to die for. It is made up of lemon, sugar and coconut and it smells gorgeous. It is very abrasive and leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth after I’ve used it. I love the scent and the way that the scrub performs so I would repurchase it but I am going to wait until I go to America as they are much cheaper than they are over here. This one set me back £9.00 for a 200g bottle and I seemed to use it up incredibly quickly, whereas the Soap and Glory Sugar Crush seems to last loads longer and is £8.00 for 300ml.
Victoria’s Secret Such A Flirt Smoothing Body Scrub
I have also used up the Such A Flirt Smoothing Body Scrub from Victoria’s Secret which is exactly the same as the Lemon Escape body scrub that I’ve talked about above except that it is scented with starfruit and white orchid. I absolutely LOVE the scent of this and will be looking to pick up another as well as a perfume version when I go to the states.
Next Just Pink Perfumed Body Scrub
Another body scrub that I used up was the Just Pink Perfumed Body Scrub from Next. This is too strongly floral scented for my nose and the scrub wasn’t very abrasive at all so it didn’t really do anything to my skin.
Burt’s Bees Peach and Willow Bark Deep Pore Scrub
From body scrubs to face scrubs and the one I have used up most recently is the Burt’s Bees Peach and Willow Bark Deep Pore Scrub which you can read my full review of here and buy here. I wouldn’t repurchase this scrub because it isn’t abrasive enough for my needs- I prefer more of a microdermabrasion scrub however I do like that it is 100% natural and the exfoliating particles are in a creamy solution.
Kiko Firming Iridescent Cream
After my showers, I’ve been applying the Kiko Firming Iridescent Body Cream. I’ll not say too much about this as it was limited edition but you can read my full review here. However I must say that whilst I did love this cream, I did stop using it for a couple of months while I tried out some other products for my blog and when I went back to using it the cream felt a hell of a lot thicker than it previously did and was so incredibly difficult to squeeze out. So strange as the consistency went a bit like chewing gum!
Good Things Five Minute Facial Face Mask
Onto skincare and there are two masks that I’ve used up since my last empties post. The first is the Good Things Five Minute Facial Mask which I reviewed in full here and you can buy here. My thoughts on this mask remain the same- I think that it is a great all rounder, perfect for younger skin and for using in between more intensive treatments. I would certainly repurchase for weeks where I’m wanting to maintain good skin and don’t have many problem areas to tackle. When I do, I crack out this guy…
GlamGlow Youth Mud
The original GlamGlow Youth Mud mask in the black pot. This is hands down the best mask I have ever used. It gives instant results unlike any other mask I’ve ever tried and I cannot see the day when I won’t repurchase this. I won’t rave about it any more as I don’t have any other words to say how great this face mask is but you can read my full review here and it goes without saying that I’ve already repurchased this.
Good Things Deep Pore Anti Blemish Lotion
Another skincare item I have used up is the Good Things Deep Pore Anti Blemish Lotion which I reviewed in this post. I absolutely love this cleanser. I pore a little onto a cotton pad and take my make up off with a few sweeps. It is refreshing and effectively cleanses my skin. I absolutely love it and would repurchase it again and again. I’d recommend it to anyone, particularly younger girls as it is full of goodness and no nasties.
St Moriz Instant Leg Tanning Spray*
For a couple of nights out, I have used the St Moriz Instant Leg Tanning Spray (buy here for £4.99) which has quite honestly baffled me. It is designed to give a spray on tights, airbrush effect to the legs. It was so easy to use, very fast drying, transfer resistant and easy to wash off, however I had one slight problem and thats that the first time I used it, I loved it. It made my legs look perfected, the colour was very natural and it gave me confidence when I was wearing a short dress and I was so over the moon with it. However the next time I wore it, no colour whatsoever was transferred onto my legs- at all. Mr WLL even sprayed it onto his arm and no colour came out whatsoever. I literally wrote the product off and thought I’ll just chuck it, until I came to writing this post and I sprayed a little on my arm again and out came the colour. It is now 11pm at night and I’m sat here with perfect pins and no where to go. All I can deduce is that I must have a dodgy can as it certainly isn’t normal for a product to work perfectly one minute and not the next… and yes, I did shake the can! For those reasons, I couldn’t recommend the product but when it worked, I did really like it and it is much more natural looking than the Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs.
Intimately Beckham for Her
The only perfume I’ve used up recently is the Victoria Beckham fragrance called Intimately Beckham For Her. This is a gorgeous floral scent layered with musk which is my favourite note to have in a fragrance. I wouldn’t repurchase this as I have so many other perfumes to use up first but I would definitely recommend it, particularly if you’re looking for a more budget fragrance or one to wear during the day. You can buy your own here.
Finally onto the make up that I have used up and each product is actually a mascara.
NYX Doll Eye Mascara
The first one is the NYX Doll Eye Mascara which I absolutely love as it create gorgeous looking lashes. It has a uniquely shaped wand and a fabulously build able formula that creates a fluttery, wide open eye look. Read my full review here and buy it here if you like the sound of it. I would definitely repurchase this mascara when I’ve ran out of my other mascaras and I would recommend this mascara to anyone, its brilliant.
Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara
Another mascara that I absolutely loved was the Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara. This took a little bit getting used to but once I did I fell in love with it. I have lost count of the amount of these that I’ve repurchased. It makes such a difference to your eye make up and really defines your eyes, making your eyes look wide open. I have reviewed it in full with pictures here and you can buy it here.
The next mascara that I have used up is the Maybelline The Colossal Volum’ Express Mascara in 100% black. I liked this mascara but it didn’t wow me as it didn’t do anything different to my lashes than a standard mascara would. This mascara seemed to get better with age as the longer I had it and the drier it got, the better it performed. You can pick up your own here.
Collection Does It All Waterproof Mascara
The final product in my empties post is the Collection Does It All Waterproof Mascara (buy here) which I must admit has been the biggest let down I’ve experienced in a long time. I loved it when I first tried it however after a couple of months of occasional use, this mascara is dry as a bone and completely unable to be used. I’ve tried reviving it with a little eye cream but unfortunately its a no go so to the bin it goes!
So that’s all of my empties for now, what do you think of these products?
