|Estee Lauder Double Wear Light, £26.50|
My favourite foundation by far is Estee Lauder Double Wear Light. I’ve been wearing it for the last year now and haven’t found anything that comes close to it in terms of application, finish and longevity. It ticks all the right boxes for me. Other than in posts where I’m going on a night out, this is the foundation I’m always wearing.
Great no fuss packaging that is travel friendly, easy to get the product out and it dispenses just the right amount. I also like how once it starts running out, you can get the majority of the foundation out and then cut open the tube so that you’re not wasting any.

I apply Double Wear Light using a Sigma F80 flat top kabuki brush and buff it into my skin. I find that it leaves a natural matte finish. It can also be applied with a flat foundation brush or with your fingers however I find that a kabuki brush gives a more flawless application. I always look for foundations that work in harmony with my other makeup products and I find that this works perfectly well after applying my morning moisturiser which is currently the Manuka Doctor Apinourish Repairing Skin Cream and Clarins Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch primer. After application, I dust a light coating of Collection 2000’s Lasting Perfection Powder and then apply the rest of my makeup.
|Before and After applying Estee Lauder Double Wear Light|
This is a sheer-medium coverage foundation that covers all redness, open pores, uneven skintone and blemishes without the heavy feeling and blanket colour of a full coverage foundation.
The formulation is very buildable and can be layered without looking cakey. It lasts a good 14 hours while I’m out without oxidising or making my skin look shiny and sliding off. It helps the other makeup products that I use to stay in place for longer as well and I find that it doesn’t transfer easily onto my clothes.
I have really oily skin and I find that this foundation soaks up the oil on my face and acts as a barrier to stop further oil coming through throughout the day. Although this foundation does contain a good amount of powder, I do think that it would be suitable for those with dry skin as it doesn’t really cling to dry areas, but I wouldn’t advise it for those with very dry skin.
Double Wear Light contains SPF 10 which is great to help protect your skin on sunny days and I find that it still photographs very well without a great deal of flash back.
Estee Lauder Double Wear Light retails at £26.50 for 30ml and can be bought direct from their website, from John Lewis, Selfridges, Feel Unique, Look Fantastic and Boots. Their shade variations are categorised into intensities designed to suit a few similar skin tones, which I find handy as I can wear the same shade intensity whether or not I’m wearing false tan, as long as it’s not too dark.
