Exciting New Releases From Kiko: Boulevard Rock Collection

One thing, amongst many, that I love about being a blogger is that I sometimes get to try out new products, just as they launch.  I love doing this because I think it is so helpful to those who read my blog as I’m able to show you what is available, what is worth buying and what doesn’t get my seal of approval.

For the last couple of weeks, I’ve been trying out three of the new products from the Spring Collection from Kiko Make Up Milano.  The collection is called Boulevard Rock and it is a limited edition collection that has been ‘inspired by the glamour of rock music, the vibe of the London gig scene and the intense colours that bring it to life.’  This is urban beauty at its best as the collection centres around creating skin with a glow and make up that is radiant, bright and colourful.

Before I get onto the products, I must comment on the gorgeous packaging; it is super colourful and designed to give a nod to denim from the texture of the fabric to the zipper, often with embossing on the product itself.  Super cool… although it makes me not want to use the product as I don’t want to spoil it!

Kiko Body Skin Glow Review

Kiko Body Skin Glow*

The first product that I’ve been trying out is the Kiko Body Skin Glow moisturising cream with golden pearls which aims to help you to rediscover bright and radiant skin.  This is a body moisturiser that contains golden pearls that have a brightening and highlighting effect on the skin when you rub it in.  This makes your skin look very healthy and radiant and gives them a perfected look.  Remember my post all about how to get perfect looking legs?  Well this is definitely a product that you can use to make your legs look amazing as it s shimmery appearance reflects the light so well when you’ve rubbed it into your skin.

The cream is a very effective moisturiser and really hydrates the skin, making it suitable for daily use all over the body- simply rub in in circular motions and wait a short while for it to sink in.  However I actually prefer to save this for days when I know I’m going to be having more flesh on show, making it perfect for summer when I live in short dresses, skater skirts and vest tops.  I think this makes the price point of £15.90 for 200ml justified too as you wont use it up as quickly.

I’ve tried Kiko body creams in the past, such as the Kiko Firming Iridescent Cream that I reviewed here, and I have found them to be of superb quality; packed full of good ingredients that work effectively too.  The Body Skin Glow moisturising crew is enriched with plant active Allantoin which moisturises and softens the skin, Citrus extracts that soothe and promote radiance and mineral enriched water from the Polynesian Sea which is used to hydrate the skin instantly to eradicate the tight, uncomfortable feeling of dry skin.
There is also a facial product that is new to Kiko from this range called the Kiko Face Skin Glow Light Effect Day Cream which retails for £13.90 for 40ml.

For me, the stand out products from the line have to be the make up items and I have two to share with you.

Kiko Rock Attraction Bronzer Review

Kiko Rock Attraction Bronzer in 01 Steady Honey*

The first is the Kiko Rock Attraction Bronzer which is available for £15.90.  This limited edition bronzing pressed power is available in two different shades, these being 01 Steady Honey and 02 Loud Tan.  I have the shade 01 Steady Honey which looks so pretty in the pan thanks to the embossed denim and zipper on the powder that is almost too cute to spoil.  This shade is what I would describe as a sun kissed, golden tan colour and it is matte as it doesn’t have any shimmer in it.  However it is more orange toned than muddy so I wouldn’t suggest using it as a contour.  Instead, I’d recommend applying your foundation and powder, then looking in the mirror and applying this bronzing powder to the areas of your face where the sun would naturally hit your face.  This really warms up your complexion and gives your skin a natural, sun kissed bronzed look that I really love, especially in the summer and for during the day when I don’t feel it necessary to dramatically sculpt my face with contouring.  Using the Rock Attraction Bronzer in this way creates a natural contour on the face and makes the skin look really healthy.

I haven’t tried the 02 Loud Tan shade however looking at swatches online, I would say that this one looks darker and a little more muddy so if you’re looking for a contour shade then this could be one to try.

The bronzing powder is very finely milled, creating a natural finish and soft focus look on the skin, especially when applied using a fluffy powder brush.  Kiko actually recommend using the Kiko Boulevard Rock Face Brush (£16.90) which is also new to the line and is a brush packed with thick, synthetic bristles that buff and blend backed, compact and loose powders into the skin.

The other face products that are available from the Boulevard Rock Collection are the Kiko Rock Attraction Blush (£12.90) which is available in 6 different shades and the Kiko Glow Touch Lips and Cheeks (£6.90) which is a multi use cream blush and lip gloss, available in 6 different shades.

Also for the lips, there is the Kiko Rock Idol Lipstick (£7.90) which looks a lot like the Bourjois Lip Crayons and the Revlon Colourburst Lacquer Balm.  There are six different shades available of this lipstick too.

For the eyes, they have released the Kiko Street Fashion Eyeshadow Palette (£14.90) available in four different colour ways, there is also the double ended Kiko Boulevard Rock Eyes Brush (£12.90) and the Kiko Skinny Fit Kajal (£6.90) which comes in six different shades.

Kiko Colour Shock Long Lasting Eyeshadow Review

Also for the eyes is the Kiko Colour Shock Long Lasting Eyeshadow (£7.90), of which there are ten different shades that can all be used either as an eyeshadow base, on their own or as eyeliner.  If you’re into wearing a bright pop of colour on your lids then you will really love this cream eyeshadow.

Kiko Colour Shock Long Lasting Eyeshadow in 105 Adrenaline Lime

I have the shade 105 Adrenaline Lime which is an intense white shade with a lime green hint to it.  It feels incredibly smooth and creamy, applies effortlessly and lasts all day thanks to its waterproof formula.  For such a long lasting product, I found it very easy to blend which I thought was unusual as I’ve found other long lasting, cream products to be a little on the fast drying- too dry side.  Another huge plus point of this cream eyeshadow is that it doesn’t settle into fine lines on my eyes and it doesn’t crease.  Since it has such an amazingly long lasting formula, it takes some getting off so I would recommend using either an oil based cleanser or a dedicated eye make up remover like the one I use and reviewed here, by Klorane.

I think that this eyeshadow has to be my favourite product from the line that I’ve tried out because it just looks so beautiful and is a great pop of brightness to my lids.  I have been really enjoying wearing it as an inner corner highlight and to line the first half of my upper lash line, as per the photo below.
The final products in the Kiko Boulevard Rock line are the Kiko Denim Nail Lacquer nail polishes (£5.90) which are available in eight shades.

Wearing the Rock Attraction Bronzer and Adrenaline Lime Eyeshadow as a liner and inner corner highlight

Having tried a few products from the line, I am definitely impressed with the latest Kiko collection.  You can shop the collection in store and here where delivery is £5.90 or free if you spend over £49.  If you would like to, you can follow Kiko on Twitter here as well liking their Facebook page here.

What are your thoughts on the line?  Which ones are you most excited to try out?

I (live in Italy) and just bought the shadow in Snappy Brass and I'm LOVING the formula. I really want to go back a get Adrenaline Lime. In the store (it was of course a little dried out) it didnt seem to have any green in it so I was thinking why is it named this and even considering using it as a highlighter. BUT it does seem to have a hint of lime in all the pictures I'm finding – do you think it would be ok as a highlighter?

OOh Snappy Brass sounds great, I imagine it to be a gorgeous colour with brown eyes so I'll definitely have to have a look out for it. I think Adrenaline Lime would only be good as an inner corner highlight as it does have a hint of light lime running through it which might be too full on for the brow bone xxx
