Feast your eyes on this beauty.
When this eyeshadow trio arrived my jaw hit the floor and I felt like all of my Christmases had come at once.
Eye of Horus, you have got it SO right!
This is the Isis Sun Goddess Palette from Eye of Horus and understandably, I think that its beautiful. These three shades are so pigmented and beautiful that they really rival some of my favourite palettes in my collection.
It is from their new range of ‘Baked Goddess Eyeshadow Palettes’ that have been released this autumn, just in time for all of those Christmas parties you’re sure to be enjoying. There are four palettes, all with three shades in each and there’s definitely a colour way to suit everyone; from warm bronzy hues to cool and icy shades, these shadows are the epitome of autumn and winter eyeshadow looks.
The palette that I picked out from the range is the Eye of Horus Isis Sun Goddess Palette and its clear to see why. The shades are absolutely STUNNING.
The shade on the far left is ‘Enigma Mist’ which is a golden pink that rose gold lovers like myself will love, the middle shade is ‘Chalice Bronze’ which is a stunning bronze shade with plenty of gold running through it and the shade on the right is ‘Sacred Husk’ which is a light brown with gold undertones that has a very warm, slightly orange tone to it. All of these shades are so pigmented its unreal, they catch the light incredibly well and have a gorgeous shimmery finish to them.
These shadows were created based on ancient Egyptian formulas and ingredients including Moringa Oil so while you’re ensured a gorgeous finish, you’re also ensured that they’ll care for the skin too. The shadows are really easy to apply and blend as they feel so soft on the skin and they don’t dry out the skin on the eyelids or make you really drag your brush across them. They can also be used as bronzers and highlighters if you so wish which is a look that I’m going to reserve for trying out when I do on holiday this winter; I’m literally counting down the days until I can get some more sun!
Another thing that I am yet to try with these eyeshadows is using them wet. They can be used wet or dry to create a variety of different looks but since I’ve been so impressed with using them when dry, I have totally neglected to use them wet! I think they’ll look incredible when used wet, just like liquid metal! I actually think that they’d be great to use as eyeliners too, to create a thick winged look that would be far more subtle than black or brown but very shimmery and light reflecting.
These shadows look absolutely beautiful at this time of the year but they would also look stunning during the summer months too. I used to keep bronze shades for more summertime looks but this palette being released for the autumn/winter has really inspired me to wear these shades throughout the year and not just when the sun is out.
I’ve been wearing these eyeshadows so often since I received the palette and one thing that I must note is how long lasting they are. Even without any eyeshadow primer, they stay in place all day and still look as strong and full of colour when I come to remove my makeup at the end of the day as they did when I first applied them. That being said, they do remove effortlessly with some micellar water on a cotton pad. You’re getting the best of both worlds, I guess you could say!
I don’t think that this is a palette that you could use alone, although I do really like the look that I’ve created in the photos above but I do think that you need a matte cream shade to use as a brow highlight and perhaps a matte brown for crease or as a transition shade. To me, the eyeshadows in this palette are very much the stand out shades that you would use on your lids and up into the crease but I do think that you need a couple of none shimmers for some extra definition.
Since the palette is very slim and travel friendly, it is a great option to pop in your makeup bag alongside another palette that has some of the transitional shades that I’ve mentioned above, or with single eyeshadows as the shimmery shades in this palette are very versatile and can be used to create quite a few different looks.
It also comes with a double ended brush. Admittedly, I wont use it but its handy for those who might.
