When it gets to the end of the working week and one of the girls jumps into the group Whatsapp suggesting a catch up over drinks, it sounds like music to your ears; am I right girls?  Whether you love a glass of wine or two, or prefer a cocktail, beer or a soft drink, its great to put the world to rights with your besties, especially if you’ve had a tough week at work or if something exciting has happened that you can’t wait to tell them about.

Having a selection of clothes in your wardrobe that can take you from the office to a wine bar is ideal if you’re someone like me who is passionately working on her career but has an even greater zest for life outside of work, living and loving the experiences it brings.  Now, when I say wine bar, that could very well be a swanky establishment in town or it could be in the comfort of your home or your friends place.  Many people have an at home bar like mine that I’ve posted about on my blog here or even a wine rack filled with their favourite tipple and some of the lucky few even have their own wine cellar!

Ever fancied creating your own?  Whether you’re wanting to create the perfect area for cocktails and mocktails in your home or you’re looking to furnish your own wine cellar with different accessories, this area is all about entertaining, relaxing and switching off from work, sensibly of course.  If you wine is your drink of choice, take a look at WineandBarrels who offer some stunning products to help you to start to create your own wine haven with their range.  They sell luxury wine racks, barrels, accessories, and lighting so you can get fully equipped!

Location sorted, that leaves the outfit.  The PrettyLittleThing Plus Waterfall Coat is an absolute beauty and a style staple I’d suggest to anyone on a budget that loves the sleek Kardashian vibe.  I have it in both black and camel and what I love the most about it is how effortlessly chic it looks.  This is the ideal coat to wear over the top of your workwear when you’re heading to the office or a meeting but its also perfect for popping over a dress or skirt and blouse combo for an evening out.  It doesn’t have a lot of bulk to it so it’s not a coat to wear on the coldest of days but its thick enough to keep you warm, without compromising on style, when there’s a chill in the air.

Similarly, the River Island Plus Black Button Front Bar Back Blouse (what a tongue twister that is to say!) is another fantastic choice for desk to drinks attire.  I bought this in the sale and have worn it so many times since it arrived.  It pairs really well with jeans, smart trousers and skirts.  For the office, I’d opt for the trousers or a pencil skirt but if I knew that I was going to be heading out for drinks after work, I’d pop a shorter skirt like the matte leather look khaki skirt  in my bag to switch up my look.

All that’s left to do is to switch out your work shoes for some heels or better still, go for a really comfortable heeled pair of boots like I have from River Island, that you can wear for both scenarios, and swap your big bag for a smaller, fashion one or a clutch.  Just don’t forget to change over your essentials like powder, perfume and lippy, card holder, keys and phone into your smaller bag.

I like to keep my makeup neutral when I know that I’m going out after I have meetings through the day but I’ll still top up my fragrance and lippy to freshen up my appearence.  I have so many perfume favourites and I’ve reviewed plenty of them but one that I’m still reaching for so often is Annick Goutal’s Nuit Et Confidences.  Check out my post if you love beautiful, stand out scents that aren’t what you’d smell on everyone else!

Taking your look from the office to wine with friends, at home or in a bar, is easy when you have staple items in your wardrobe that coordinate well with one another!
