The festive season is here and its time to party! For me that means pretty dresses, plenty of sequins and a red lip to match an excited Christmas smile!
The photo below shows the festive makeup look that I wore in my Christmas Gift Guide video. On the day that I filmed it, I’d been trying out some makeup from the Joan Collins Timeless Beauty makeup line and I’ve been wearing different bits from it everyday since.
The collection is classic, timeless and very elegant. Joan Collins herself is the epitome of glamour so I shouldn’t have expected anything less from her makeup line, even right down to the packaging which is incredibly similar to that of Charlotte Tilbury.
In this post, I wanted to share with you the pieces that I have been trying out from the Joan Collins Timeless Beauty line and how they work together in a festive makeup look thats perfect for all of your Christmas parties and for New Years Eve.
Joan Collins Timeless Beauty Glorious Gloss in Pearl (Shimmer)*
Starting with the Glorious Gloss which is nothing short of stunning. I have it in the shade Pearl which is an iridescent shimmer that makes the lips look so plump and perfected. It really catches the light so well that it enhances the shape and appearance of the lips.
This glossy glides onto the lips and feels smooth and comfortable to wear. It looks fabulous alone which is actually how I prefer to wear it but it can also be layered over any other lipstick or gloss for a little added glamour. In the photo above, I have pressed it onto the centre of my lips to add a little extra shine and dimension. This helps to give the appearance of a fuller, plumper pout which I love the look of.
While this product definitely has a very high gloss shine to it, it doesn’t feel too sticky or tacky on the lips and the product itself is very much the perfect consistency. It isn’t too thick and you don’t get loads on the wand so it doesn’t apply heavily on the lips and end up smearing across your face. It simply stays put where you apply it and lasts for ages, making it the perfect gloss to wear for an evening out.
Joan Collins Timeless Beauty Divine Lips lipstick in Amanda*
The second product that I have been trying out from Joan Collins Timeless Beauty is the Divine Lips lipstick in the shade Amanda. This is very much an autumnal shade and different to any other red that I have in my collection. The colour is very much a warm, brick red with rusty, russet tones in it. Its a very vintage, classic colour that I think would work well on the more mature lady.
The formula of this lipstick is stunning. It feels very rich and luxurious and glides onto the lips smoothly during application. I love that it is highly pigmented, making it opaque in one coat and the shape of the bullet makes application really easy, especially when defining the cupids bow.
The lipstick feels very hydrating and a little slippy on the lips, yet I didn’t find it to bleed and it lasted for hours on my lips. During this time, it didn’t dry my lips out at all and the colour remained powerful.
What I love about the lipsticks in this line is that they have created a nail polish in the same colour to match which you will see later in this post. I think that this is a really nice touch and enables the wearer to look instantly put together with very minimal effort. This is perfect if you’re someone who doesn’t have a lot of time on their hands or is rushing from the office to get to a Christmas party after work!
Joan Collins Timeless Beauty Impeccable Finish Loose Powder*
The third piece that I have been using is the Joan Collins Timeless Beauty Impeccable Finish Loose Powder. This is a translucent powder that is designed to be used to set makeup. It comes in a big pot with a flip up lid with a mirror on the underside and a little powder puff inside.
The packaging is a little annoying as although it looks beautifully sleek, once you’ve removed the sticker that sits over the holes in the packaging that separates the powder from the lid, the powder goes everywhere. Whenever you move the pot, lots of powder ends up in the lid, far more than you would usually need which can get a little messy. In hindsight, I should have done what I used to do with my Bare Minerals powder in the past, until the changed their packaging, which was to get a pin and poke holes in the plastic sticker that covered the holes in the packaging. This makes the space for the powder to come through smaller, so it lets far less powder through and you can control it much more easily.
The powder itself is very light weight and doesn’t feel heavy or cakey on the skin in the slightest which makes it a great option for those with dry and very dry skin who may have found other powders too mattifying. It has a very natural, enhancing finish on the skin and it is actually designed to have a ‘chameleon effect’ which mimics surrounding tones. This is supposed to make it suitable for all skin types which I can agree with to a certain extent, although I did found that this powder seemed to leave a light dusting of colour on my fair skin so I’m not sure how it would fare on far darker skin tones.
I love the perfected look that this powder gives my skin when I first apply it and it does a good job at setting my makeup in place. However since it doesn’t keep my skin matte, I do need to combine it with other products to stop my skin from becoming shiny throughout the day. I do have incredibly oily skin so I don’t think that this would be the case for the vast majority of people.

Joan Collins Timeless Beauty Nail Lacquer in Amanda*
The fourth and final product in this makeup line that I have been trying out is the Nail Lacquer in Amanda which is the shade to match the lipstick above.
This colour is absolutely perfect for autumn and while I do think that it is a little too mature looking for my own tastes, I cannot fault the formula. This nail polish is easily the best formula I have tried all year and that’s say something as I’ve used A LOT of nail polish this year!
In the photo above, you’re looking at ONE COAT alone of this nail polish. ONE COAT. I’ve never seen a nail polish apply as perfectly with only one coat in my life. It has a self levelling formula that ensures your application is even and smooth. The nail polish itself is incredibly opaque so you can leave it to one coat and not have to worry about streaks, missing a bit or uneven areas of the nail. It dries quickly and has a shiny finish so if you’re pushed for time and don’t want to apply a top coat, you needn’t. Plus, it lasts for days without chipping.
While I don’t think that this colour is for me, I would absolutely love to try out other colours from the range as the pinks and coral look so beautiful and I already know that this is a formula that I love now!
Kiss Looks So Natural Lashes in Shy*
To complete my festive look, I added a pair of the Kiss Looks So Natural Lashes in Shy. If you’re someone who is new to wearing false lashes or if you want something that is incredibly natural looking then these are the lashes for you.
Shy are very natural, subtle lashes. They’re the kind of falsies that will enhance your own lashes rather than adding any dramatic length or volume. They’re very easy to apply and have a fine and flexible clear band that blends effortlessly with your own lash line so that the lashes are undetectable against your own eyelashes.
The Kiss Looks So Natural range of lashes feature their revolutionary tapered end technology which means that the lashes get finer towards the tips. This helps them to blend seamlessly with your own lashes and give you an incredibly natural look.
They’re so light weight, you can easily forget that you’re wearing them which I love because it means that I can wear these during the day as well as at night without feeling conscious of having them on. They’re a little too subtle for me for when I’m looking to put together a very glamorous makeup look but for when I want something thats a little more natural looking to enhance my own lashes, these are perfect. Plus, I like to put a little mascara on them at the base of my lashes to further blend them together and to add a little thickness to the look. The fact that these are so natural makes them the ideal pair of lashes to wear if you’re going to a festive drinks part after work as these would definitely be suitable for the office.
I hope you like my festive makeup look and have lots of fun at all of your festive events this Christmas season! Do check out the Joan Collins Timeless Beauty collection. I’m really impressed with everything I’ve tried and I think that its great that Joan is showing that you can be elegant and glamorous at any age.
