This has been the summer of lips for me. I’ve really been enjoying applying different lip colours and making a feature of my lips.
There have been four stand out lipsticks that I have found have really seen me through these summer months. I’ve enjoyed using these on my holidays in Morocco and Turkey this summer and also back home in the UK.
If you’re looking for a glossy nude, then the Soap and Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss Stick 3d Volume Lip Shine in Nudist is a great option. This is a very natural looking beige nude with a little bit of a pink tone to it, which looks great whether you’re doing a barely there makeup look or a full on smokey eye. It feels so hydrating on the lips and really moisturises them while leaving them with a gorgeous colour and shine. The shine helps to make the lips look volumised but theres also an ingredient within the formula that helps to make the lips look fuller without making them tingle to achieve that plump.
I love the twist up crayon that this comes in and it has a delicious vanilla scent. I bought this towards the end of last year on the recommendation of my friend Gemma. They’ve since had a bit of a redesign to shape the tip into more of a point which I think is a nice touch for an even easier application.
If you’re looking for a bright lippy with great staying power then the Bourjois Rouge Edition Lipstick in 11 Fraise Remix is a fantastic option. Fraise Remix is a pop of pink colour for the lips with a hint of coral; my perfect bright shade. The colour is so powerful, it really imparts a block of colour onto the lips that is so pigmented that it brightens the complexion. I can’t help but smile when I wear this shade!
The formula is great too. It contains orchid blossom extract that claims to help to hydrate the lips for 10 hours and while I can’t say for certain that the effect does last for a full 10 hours, it certainly does feel hydrating and moisturising on the lips. This lippy leaves my lips with a bright pop of colour, a hint of shine and a long lasting formula that doesn’t bleed. I love it!
A lipstick that has not only been worn a lot this summer but for most of the year is the L’Oreal Colour Riche Lipstick in 370 Crazy Fuchsia. This is the perfect pop of a muted bright pink colour for the lips. You can check out my full review of it in this post.
Bourjois are really ticking all of the right boxes for me with their lip products and although I won’t be making lots more purchases anytime soon, purely because I’m trying to use up the lip products that I already have in my collection, if I were to buy some more drugstore lippies, they would definitely be from Bourjois.
The Bourjois Colour Boost Lip Crayon in Peach On The Beach has been a favourite in my collection for the last couple of years now. I bought it when it very first came out as I was going on a girls holiday and didn’t want to take my expensive, high end lippies away with me as it was going to be a bit of a wild trip and I worried that I might lose them or that they might melt.I found a bit of a gem in Peach On The Beach. Its a light, bright and creamy peachy coral shade that feels so moisturising and hydrating on the lips. This is the kind of shade that you need to keep topped up though as it isn’t too long lasting and I find that when it wears off, it leaves the lips with a pink stain which is strange given that the lippy is a peach!
All of these lipsticks are pretty affordable at well under £10 a piece and if you like the shades, I’d really recommend them because the formulas are great.
They’re all available here.
