By now, I’m sure you all know that I love my hair products and since having my hair returned to the lighter colour that I’m used to at the fabulous Hooker and Young salon, I have been searching for a toning hair care range to keep my hair looking ashy.
It seems that so many of you have been as well as when I first had my hair done, lots of you were recommending toning products to me on Twitter. I have naturally quite light blonde hair but it has gold tones in it that I don’t appreciate at all. Today I wanted to share with you a review of the toning shampoo and conditioner duo that I have been using most frequently so that if you’re looking for something to banish your hair of brassy tones then you might find this helpful whether you’re a seasoned pro at ash or white blonde hair or whether you’ve just died it like Kim Kardashian.
When Kim Kardashian West stepped out on her way to Balmain’s Paris Fashion Week show she caused such a stir with her new dramatic blonde hair and so many people have followed suit in dying their locks and getting rid of brassy, yellow tones! I’d love to know what you think of her look; do you think it is high fashion or do you think she should go back to the salon?
The toning shampoo and conditioner that I’ve been using at the moment is from Fudge which is a haircare brand that is relatively new to me but everything that I have tried from them so far, I have absolutely love.
The Fudge Clean Blonde Shampoo is a violet toning shampoo that is designed to remove yellow tones from blonde hair. The Fudge Clean Blonde Conditioner is a violet toning conditioner that compliments the shampoo and Fudge recommend using them together for the best results.
As I expected, the shampoo is a vibrant dark purple colour and it smells lovely. I can’t quite put my finger on exactly what it smells like but its really nice! I have been applying this to my hair when it is wet and have found that it works into a really nice lather. You can leave it on for up to five minutes. I’ve found that the longer you leave it on the hair the more intense the results. I prefer to leave it on for just a couple of minutes as it works really quickly to tone the hair. When I left it on for the full five minutes, I found that I did get some very silver, almost lilac tones in my hair and parts of my hair did look very ashy. You can see how this looks in my latest youtube video as I had just washed my hair before filming the video!
I love the way that the shampoo makes my hair feel really clean without drying it out. Each time I have used the shampoo, I have always followed up with the conditioner from the same line afterwards and find that the two together work really well.
The Clean Blonde Conditioner is designed to maintain the cool tones in your hair by neutralising the blonde hair while conditioning it. It is a light lilac purple shade in colour and it smells similar to the shampoo but even better because it smells stronger. It distributes through the hair very easily and is immediately softening on the hair. I find that it has a detangling effect on my hair and I can comb it through from the roots to tips with ease. My hair is left feeling soft with a healthy shine to it without feeling weighted down or unmanageably soft.
You can find out all about the full line of Fudge products on their website and you can purchase the shampoo here and the conditioner here. There are lots of different variations in size available so I’d recommend having a look here to see what will work best for you; I personally think that the duo set is a fabulous deal! The Fudge Clean Blonde range are also available here but they’re a little more expensive that the other links so I would recommend shopping on those over this one.
